I chatted with the MARC folks, and boy have they been busy. I’ll post a big update tomorrow.
You all were asking for Tunch pics, so I found one of my favorites:
I loved him so much and still do. Makes me laugh every time I think about him.

Good Kitty.
Violet
Awww…Tunchie. Love those little orange spots on top of his head and that crazy aftermarket tail.
Corner Stone
Just seems like this would be the point where Cassidy would normally come in and call Cole a cat lady.
NotMax
Just curious – is Shawn still ensconced chez Cole?
Omnes Omnibus
@Corner Stone: Did he get banned or just decide that we were all effete assholes and walk away?
Violet
Since this is a pet thread, might as well re-post the request to vote for Karen in GA’s Iggy in the pet photo contest. You don’t have to sign up or give an email–just click Vote.
Poor Iggy tested positive for heartworms and the treatment is long. He also has to stay quiet and calm–not so easy for a little dog. They could use a pick me up if he wins. The winner gets a $750 gift card to Publix, which would be nice to offset the costs of the heartworm treatment.
You can vote from more than one device and it still counts. Vote early and often!
Patricia Kayden
Cute fat kitty. What’s not to love?
Omnes Omnibus
@Violet: Voted.
ETA: I did even though Iggy isn’t an English Cocker Spaniel. ECSs are the ne plus ultra of dogs.
Corner Stone
@Omnes Omnibus: Personally I think he’s in the clink for domestic violence charges. That’s IMO.
I just pray that if his kids were actually real he didn’t harm them on his downward spiral.
JCJ
@Violet:
Vote 532!
Patricia Kayden
@Violet: Voted. Cute doggie.
Violet
@Omnes Omnibus: Yay! Also:
Your vote is also for a good cause in addition to helping out Karen in GA.
Vote for Iggy.
Emma
Le Tuncho! God, I fell in love with the magnificent fat bastard.
Omnes Omnibus
Why is the FL Governor on ESPN? Okay, maybe a lookalike…
Omnes Omnibus
@Violet: Did vote 538 using my phone.
Violet
@JCJ: @Patricia Kayden: Yay! Thanks! Karen in GA and Iggy thank you too.
I’d forgotten how much I enjoy poll pimping. Anyone around here remember the Little Bitsy poll spamming we did here? That was for the Charlie’s Angel’s animal rescue. That was fun!
cbear
Vote 536…
The Tunchster was a gem of a cat. RIP.
Howard Beale IV
This cat looks my Ozzie.
Corner Stone
@cbear: The Tunchster was a cat in need of a gym.
Violet
@Omnes Omnibus: I was 300-something today. I can’t remember exactly. So Iggy has received a lot of votes today. Good!
Violet
@Corner Stone: I thought he had a cat tree and refused to use it. No unnecessary exertion for Tunch.
Corner Stone
Trent Dilfer needs to lose a few pounds if he wants to button that suit jacket.
TaMara (BHF)
My favorite stories about Tunch were how, despite his tough looking photographs, he was really just a marshmallow who loved to wrap himself around company and get rubbed all over.
TaMara (BHF)
@Corner Stone: Is Cassidy our Florida firefighter? Or am I thinking of someone else?
SWMBO
@Violet: You can only vote once a day. Keep reminding me. I was vote 563 just now.
El Caganer
@Omnes Omnibus: He found out the NSA was spying on him via BJ.
Omnes Omnibus
@TaMara (BHF): Yes, he is, but he went a bit “mental” following Cole’s anti-pitbull posts after Tunch’s death. In the end, he launched misogynistic attacks at Betty Cracker anytime she posted anything. Bit of a nutter if you ask me.
RobertDSC-iPhone 4
Team Tunch for life. RIP, O great One whose Paw we live under.
Mike J
Holy shit, That Sinking Feeling, a movie about Glaswegian youth that steal sinks is on TV now.
Violet
@SWMBO: I’ll remind you but tomorrow is the last day. So if you are east coast and you voted after midnight then you might have already got that vote in.
Corner Stone
@TaMara (BHF): I think you’re thinking of the same guy. Really angry all the time. Called Betty the C-word a few different threads.
I always thought he was a small wire spring away from snapping the mouse trap on his own neck. My guess is he’s in jail for domestic violence, but that’s just a probable outcome for someone who hated himself as much as he did.
sharl
@Violet: I voted via three different browsers, and didn’t get cyber-scolded, so I assume they all counted. [Can’t remember the vote count I saw after my last vote though…]
PurpleGirl
@Violet: Yes, he did have a cat tree; because Tunch didn’t use it Cole gave it to the people he gave that fluffy cat to.
burnspbesq
Laettner showed up on our front porch five years ago tomorrow. That was a damn good day.
kc
Aww, Tunchie. I know you miss him.
kc
@Violet:
Vote no. 590 here! Iggy is a cutie.
kdaug
@NotMax:
That’s an important question – not for reasons you think.
So, John, is Shawn still around?
TaMara (BHF)
@Omnes Omnibus:
@Corner Stone:
I am sorry to hear that. He and I had some good conversations, but that was years ago before things got so busy that I haven’t been around as much or on a regular basis. I must have missed the breakdown.
Anyone who picks on Betty is not welcome IMO.
Yatsuno
Proper authoritahs alerted.
Oh and TUNCHKITTEH!!!
Violet
@TaMara (BHF): It got bad. Be glad you missed it.
Mike J
@Yatsuno: When is the last time we saw the proper authoritahs around here?
And when are you going to be back on the proper side of the mountains? We should do another meet up.
ruemara
T-minus 12.17 hours til interview. I’m packing now. Maybe this bottle of champers I’ve had since the house and never got to open? I mean, getting them drunk should result in an offer, yes?
trollhattan
Now that’s the boy who put the Floo into Floofy!
Amazed he ever got out from under there.
Yatsuno
@Mike J: 1) I get her back for the Steve threads every now & again. Gamergate has her pretty fed up with humanity at the moment.
2)Uncertain. They keep sending me to California for stuff so planning things like the next big chop has been a fecking nightmare. I’ve barely had time to flat hunt! But hopefully some time in December I’ll take a couple days & we can do stuff & stuff.
grishaxxx
Man, he was such a SLAB of Kitteh…miss him here, too.
ulee
Did Shawn ever get a job?
Mike J
@Yatsuno:
Just try to give us a week or two advance notice to round up the usual suspects.
kdaug
Let me rephrase that – I ain’t got no “important questions” about Cole. It’s none of my goddamned business. Share what you want, John.
kdaug +/- n
Yatsuno
@Mike J: You’ll have at least 2 weeks since it takes me about that long to arrange appointments & such. Plus my last evaluation came in & I’m waiting for the time off award to hit my leave bank. This MIGHT run into January, but you’ll have more notice than the Dallas trip, which is Thursday. Fortunately I don’t have much of a schedule in Texas.
Violet
@Yatsuno: You’re going to Dallas? Are they quarantining you?
Omnes Omnibus
@Violet: Cole would, if he were in charge. Scared bunnies do what they need to do.
SWMBO
@sharl: I voted again in a different browser. 603!
jl
Thank you for Tunch pic, JGC!
Mnemosyne
@ruemara:
Packing, eh? Just how far away is this interview? Closer to Fisherman’s Wharf or closer to K-Town?
muddy
What a fine figure of a cat.
Yatsuno
@Violet: Heh. My work just released an ebola protocol today. No I am NOT kidding. It wouldn’t shock me if I came back & had to go on a 21 day admin leave just to be sure.
suzanne
@Corner Stone: I like Cassidy. I hope he’s mentally OK. I didn’t see his apparent freakout. I hope all is well with him.
John M. Burt
When Tunch died, I took that cartoon of a man proudly putting up posters reading HAVE YOU SEEN THIS CAT? HE’S AWESOME! I pasted in Tunch’s picture and sent it to you, but not before my then-five-year-old saw it. I told him what the cartoon said, and he thought it was immensely funny.
Indeed, today he still asks me to bring up that cartoon for him.
[Oh, also: 615 votes.]
Baud
@Yatsuno:
That sucks. I’m sure you were looking forward to unprotected sex with symptomatic ebola patients. I mean, what else is there to do in Dallas?
Major Major Major Major
RIP Tunch. Slayed me when I read that lo those many whiles ago.
Chopping the wellbutrin dose in half is still biting me in the ass too, but at least no more seizures. FML
ruemara
@Yatsuno: why are you never in norcal and why am I not sleeping?
asiangrrlMN
TUNCHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Still beloved and very much missed.
@Yatsuno: Thanks, honey. I’m so happy to see Tunchie again.

My husband, who doesn’t read this blog but sees the pics over my shoulder, still yells “TEAM TUNCH” whenever there’s any animal shown here. He will accept no substitutes. That fat bastard inspired love at first sight.

@poptartacus: sorry to hear. Hugs and RIP best doggy.

663 and 664 here!
@poptartacus: I’m so sorry about your pup. Peace and love.
mr_gravity
@poptartacus: Cry as hard as you have ever cried for anything. Wash your face. Then go to the shelter. It’s the best way we can honor their memory.

I just did 758 – dunno how that stands in the whole race…
Poptarticus, sorry to hear about your puppy, the ONLY bad thing about out fuzzy companions is how short their lives are compared to ours.
In fall of 2011 I had two senior cats (Rufus and Harvey, who got that name because he was invisible the first 2 months we had him, rescued alley cat from downtown) suffer from kidney failure while Mrs J was in the hospital for 59 days. I talked about the other cats and dogs and just didn’t mention Rufus and Harvey. Shortly after she got home we lost Boomer, calendar star of the BJ world, an 85 pounds of love farm dog. He had a serious bark (hence the name) and scared sneak thieves off more than once.
I’ll try a diff browser for Iggy in a minute. I have a thing for commenting at the end of threads that have been inactive for several hours (or days) but what the hey, I got my $0.02 in at the end.
SWMBO
@JR in WV: I do that all the time. lol
phoebes-in-santa fe
Tunch was a wonderful cat, but I’ve grown quite fond of Steve. He’s a worthy successor to Tunch.
