Open thread: my kid, who had used up the batteries in her hearing aids during the Irish Rebellion/Easter Rising set performance of ‘Taming of the Shrew’ at the Globe, missed the train her aunt and grandmother caught…and guided her 13yo cousin to the next correct train so they were able to pop back out of the Tube at the right place. Before my sister had time to panic.
Most of the things I worry about never happen, and the ones that do I never thought to worry about. So maybe I’ll just stop worrying.

Ms. Zoumer tried to enlist colleagues to file what she hoped would be a class-action lawsuit to fight for overtime pay. But the company had instituted a policy that could force employees to ultimately resolve disputes through arbitration instead of the courts, which essentially shut down Ms. Zoumer’s lawsuit, since arbitration bars individuals from joining in a class action.
When Ms. Zoumer refused to sign the new policy, she was fired.
I think we’ll be seeing more and more of this kind of thing.
@Adam L Silverman: The Bradenton’s (FL) visitor’s bureau issued an apology after it received backlash for buying rally towels for Pittsburgh Penguins fans who attended the first game of the Eastern Conference Final Friday night.

@Adam L Silverman: Years ago, I went with a friend to watch a Steeler playoff game at a Yinzer bar in Largo. It was the game the heavily favored Steelers lost to the Chargers, with Pittsburg’s last pass attempt into the endzone harmlessly falling to the turf.

@Prufrock: No worries, was just curious. The three big sports bars that I recall in Largo are AJ’s, which is a standalone, and Kerr’s Winghouse and Mugs n’ Jugs. The latter two are both Hooters knockoffs.
Bradenton, home to the Pittsburgh Pirates spring training, came out with a promotional yellow towel thingee to root for the Pens just as the series went underway. This is like having a nearby suburb of Pittsburgh like Harrisburg setting up Tesla coils at City Hall cheering on the Lightning.

@PaulWartenberg2016: I understand the concept. As for Harrisburg, I lived 20 minutes west of it for four years in Carlisle. Harrisburg is closer to Philadelphia than it is to Pittsburgh. I can make it to the western portions of Montgomery County in about 90 minutes if I’m really pushing it and all the way into Philadelphia in about 2 hours. I can make it to Pittsburgh in 3 to 3 and 1/2 hours.

@Prufrock: My sensei’s dojo is in the corner of that strip mall on the corner of Ulmerton and 66th. Since I’ve not been in the area much for a long time, I wasn’t aware of Mugs name change. We used to go to AJ’s a lot after class until, and I have no idea why, my sensei decided he wasn’t going there any more. Then it was the Winghouse, but the one down in Pinellas Park. Then he dropped that place too. I have no idea where, if anywhere, they are going now. I haven’t been in the area much since I went to work for the Army in 2007, so I have no idea what’s where, nor where they’re going to socialize.
I have to say, for a second-string goalie, that Russian kid playing for Tampa Bay gave a great account of himself.

@PaulWartenberg2016: Remember the Finals last year, when the Lightning tried to keep Blackhawks fans out of their arena by refusing to sell tickets to credit cards with Chicago zip codes, and all they did was increase opportunities for scalpers?
It seems like the Lightning have a little success-to-attendance ratio problem.
