Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

Let there be snark.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

How stupid are these people?

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

The words do not have to be perfect.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Second rate reporter says what?

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Petty moves from a petty man.

“They all knew.”

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

In the 1950s Hungary had one of the all-time great national sides. On the other hand, Belgium has some really talented players, and Marouane Fellaini has the best ‘fro in football since Carlos Valderrama retired.

On paper Belgium have way more than enough to win this one. If they don’t, they should immediately fire Mark Willmots for simply not having a clue on how to form a functioning team.

Forecast: second patriarchal cross team going out today.

Apparently, the teams now really have been given permission to score early goals.

The embarrassment of riches Wilmots has on his side is shining through. De Bruyne is simply magnificent and his injury cost Man City dearly this past season.

I hadn’t paid attention before but the Magyars have a beautiful anthem.

What exactly is the color of the Belgian shirts and shorts? They have a distinctly greenish hue on my screen and make me wonder whether I need to calibrate the screen colors. But then the Hungarian shorts clearly are white.

Martin Keown had a nice Premier League career but he’s the worst fucking color man on the planet. His color is worse than his in-game and post-game analysis, my cat has more to offer in detail and accuracy.

Well, the game speaks for itself, the Belgians are all class and Hungary is determined to get forward and find an equalizer and this is non-stop fun

Saw a funny comment to the Germany vs Slovakia game in The Guardian:

In the next round Germany will play the final vs. Spain, then the semi-final vs. France and finally the quarter-final vs. Belgium.

Just heard bad news mixed with one of the best Freudian slips ever.
    5 wounded in Sacramento stabbing.
CNN had the pio for the fire department. He said there was a right wing excrement before correcting to extremist.

I used to think that adding extra assistants behind the goallines would be a great help to referees, but that has turned out to be an epic failure. I don’t know what those guys are looking at, but it’s certainly not the match.

I’ll Hazard a guess and say that was the single best performance of the tourney so far. Magisterial performance from Hazard.

And four. Hungary actually played really well in this second half. But Belgium is beginning to look like the team everyone has been waiting for them to be.

@BillCinSD: I remember years ago reading one of the Spenser mysteries, all told in the first person, he described it thusly:

“She kicked me in the balls; groin just doesn’t do it justice.”
