    Twitter is, ahem, a-twitter over this ad by Dan Helmer, a Democratic candidate in VA-10:

    The ad is getting really harsh reviews, but I think it’s funny and cute. If he wanted to get attention, he seems to have succeeded.

    I don’t know anything else about him, but a guy who can laugh at himself gets brownie points right off the bat.

    Also, he’s defining support for Planned Parenthood and ObamaCare as “centrist,” much to RW dismay. That can’t be a bad thing.

    But those ads can’t possibly be generating the kind of hits needed since I’m fairly certain the regular readers here hate all of them.

    @CaseyL: Okay I just watched it. The ad is total cheeseball but it definitely will leave a mark on Comstock. It doesn’t hurt that Helmer is quite photogenic.

    I am getting only 6 ads before the comment section. (FWIW, even though I use mobile devices exclusively, I always keep BJ set to Desktop Version. Much more attractive, much easier to navigate, IMO.)

    @CaseyL: Pierce has been hit or miss for me lately. And yes the ad is a cheese fest. But there is nothing in there that will damage Helmer. And it’s getting name recognition beyond what a typical political ad would do.

    I personally think this ad will have little affect on the race 1 year from now. 2018 is our election to lose at this point, really. Trump and the GOP are so bad and opposition parties traditionally do well in midterms.

    @CaseyL: Thank you for the link, I had heard of this and wanted to see it. It is really awful but I loved it. He is going to get a lot of attention .
    if I lived in his district this ad would have me looking up who he is and what he stands for.
