Commenter WaterGirl is, as many of you are aware from her comments, puppysitting. Apparently some of you who are aware have been asking for pictures. Well here they are. I have no ideas what the puppies’ names are, that wasn’t included (apparently I don’t need to know), so pester WaterGirl in the comments for the specifics. Her dogs, Tucker and Henry are marked below their individuals pictures.

    What is that breed with the dark eyeliner and brown/white spots? My mom brought one home from a reservation rest stop as a teeny, sick little thing, and she turned out to be the smartest, funniest pup. Always thought she was just an all-American but the doggie in this photo looks exactly like her.

    @MB: That one looks like a Jack Russell to me, but I don’t know. We have a neighbor who had 4 of those beasts when we first moved here; hilariously naughty dogs and very smart. Today she was trying to walk two at once and had paused at her mailbox, and the dogs were heading in opposite directions.

    I’ve been blessed to have shared my life with three dogs but am currently single. However, I have told all my friends and my mom (who has been hinting since Xmas that she’d really like having a dog around) that we would go to the pound and get one after the D’s win back the House in November.

    Which allows me to post this lovely news that there are currently only ten, yes 10, Republican House seats that are uncontested in 2018.

    This post is from a commenter at DailyKos. I realize posts at DKos can at times be uneven qualitatively but this is worth the read. Part of the post is listing off the still uncontested seats–in case anyone here knows of someone who is geographically situated to throw their hat in the ring and wants to give them a push. And, yes, they are pretty much the reddest of the red districts.

    Democrats all across the country have been stepping up to run for Congress, and it’s finally amounted to this: only 10 GOP-held congressional seats lack Democratic challengers.

    Yes, you read that correctly. Only 10.

    Since my last update, a lot happened in the way of Democratic candidate declarations. A number of filing deadlines have passed, including a key one in Alabama—a state that previously had two seats in need of Democratic candidates. Thankfully, Democratic candidates declared in both of them before the filing deadline.

    Also too, it appears that Mueller is quite ready and able to play hardball with Manafort. I don’t know if this was reported in an earlier thread but Mueller is dropping some new charges on him(link is to politico for those that don’t want to go there):

    Special counsel Robert Mueller’s office has told a federal judge it has found evidence that Paul Manafort, the former Trump campaign chairman, committed bank fraud not addressed by the indictment last October in which he was charged with money laundering and failure to register as a foreign agent.

    As legal wrangling continues over a $10 million bail package for Manafort, prosecutors this week accused him of submitting false information to a bank in connection with one of his mortgages.

    I am currently freezing my ass off at the Happiest Place On Earth while my family rides Space Mountain. I didn’t think my bad knee was up to it. Having an ECV has made the day bearable, though — I had a little independence even though I’m still on crutches and can’t do all the walking.

    @Mnemosyne: There’s CA Adventure which was a bunch of bulldozers tearing up the old parking lot the last time I was there.

    ETA: The kid was shocked, SHOCKED I say, when I informed her that I’d never been to CA Adventure.

    I like CA Adventure. They have several top-notch rides now, and the food is much better than DL. It’s basically Pixar Land, and will be even more so once they finish re-doing the pier.

    Basically, they have a “pier” that was supposed to be reminiscent of Santa Monica’s, with a rollercoaster and other rides. They’re re-theming it to be more Pixar stuff. They also have a fake Pacific Wharf and a fake Route 66 town. And the entrance plaza is 1920s LA with a scale reproduction of the Carthay Circle movie theater (inside it’s a restaurant).

    And they still have their tiny vineyard. No idea if they actually bottle anything from it, but it’s adorable.

    Just lifted the lid and peeked at what’s been doing its thing in the slow cooker for 7&189; hours. Looks and smells good. Used around 50% more of everything than the original recipe calls for, so maybe gonna give it an extra 30 minutes beyond the 6 to 8 hours called for.

    Eyeliner dog is a lab mix. I think lab and terrier, but that’s just my guess. Stella and Skye are litter mates, but I don’t know if they had the same dad because he doesn’t look like a terrier at all.

    You guys have no idea how long it takes to get her to sit still while I do her makeup.

    @satby: One thing that always strikes me when pet photos are posted: Balloon Juicers are all excellent housekeepers. No matter who is submitting the pics, the floors are sparkling, all is neat and tidy. No big piles of clutter, everything looks in good repair.

    It makes makes me wonder if I belong here. Good thing I have no pets to photograph — no one sees the state of my house.

    @Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism: Agreed! My wife and I saw it today and we both loved it. Totally worth the extra for the Dolby theater. (My wife doesn’t like IMAX or 3D, so it’s a compromise.)

    In the first five minutes, I could tell that the bar was now raised for Marvel movies.
    Plus, I have never seen a film with such a good-looking cast!
