Like I think I mentioned the other day, they do rounds every night from 6:30 to 8 pm, so I always wait until 8:05 pm to call so I don’t sound too needy. I just got off the phone with the nurse who is in charge of Lily, and it is the same young woman who watched her last night. She’s eating, drinking, took her meds with no problem, went for a walk, and is generally being a good girl.
That’s all I got, but I will take it. Right now, that is a win.

That’s so good to hear, John! Whatever tomorrow brings, at least Lily is happy and doing well tonight.
Hope you get some sleep. You could probably use more than you’ve been getting these past few days.

Hope she continues to improve and comes home to West Virginia by Dog.

What a difference a day can make. That, and a few extra red blood cells, and whatever else they’re giving Lily.
Peaceful slumbers, John.

Just make sure you visit her tomorrow (/snark).
Happy for the both of you!

John, hoping Lily’s doing even better tomorrow so she can come home and be snuggled with you and get to sleep in the crook of your arm. ❤️

So happy to have read the latest updates and am sending tons of good vibes down your way for both you and Lily. I had posted the other day (under my real name – yikes! Lesson learned – don’t post from work), and while still a lurker at heart, I just wanted you to know that I did the Dance of Joy after reading about Lily’s turn-around. I also did a little Jig of Joy for you. Sending you best wishes and a little donation (payday prancing!) in hopes that every little bit helps.
rikyrah
That is a win.
Thanks for the update, Cole.
Sending positive thoughts for Lily ?

Wishing for continued improvement for Lily. And some R&R for you, Mr. Cole.

Good news. Hope it continues.
This is becoming something of canine medical mystery tour. I hope something unexpectedly positive turns up. Maybe a misdiagnosis.
These mammal bodies, very tricky things to figure out sometimes.

This made me smile:
Oh, John, you are priceless. Never change.
Much love and many healing thoughts to the lovely Lily. I do hope the news continues to be good.

Hooray! May she be even better tomorrow!
Mnemosyne
Whoo-hoo! I remember that when our kitty Natasha was sick, the vet put a lot of emphasis on the Big Four: eating, drinking, peeing, and pooping. When she’s doing all four of those, she’s still fighting. Hopefully the news will be even better tomorrow.
Mnemosyne
Also, several commenters in the other thread were saying you should remind the doctors to check for tick-borne diseases like Lyme disease and others that may not be very common in the Big City.
debit
Still crying happy tears, John. @Mnemosyne: is right. If Lily is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping then she’s doing good. I have massive amounts of errands to run tomorrow, but I’ll be checking in for updates on my phone. Love to both of you.

☺️ Will print out the pic of Lily and put it in Ganesh’s hands so “the remover of obstacles” is super clear on the healing intentions being offered tonight. Thank you for keeping us posted, John.

Huge win! Please take good care of yourself while the doctors and staff are taking such excellent care of Lily. This level of stress is no joke.

G-dammit, John! I am away from home, teaching in Virginia, and have only been able to check in sporadically. I was sobbing when Lily was diagnosed, then I was dreading to read today’s news and when I read she has done better, I cried again! It IS a rollercoaster.
Still keeping fingers crossed and hoping you can have a chance to catch your breath. As always, you are doing everything to keep her well. I hope she makes progress and you have her for as long as possible.

Great to hear John; hugs and love for you and ur fur tribe. Go Lily!

they say that having a beloved is like learning to walk around with your heart outside your body all the time — that fragile and fraught.
what they don’t say is that it’s kind of the only thing worth doing.

Good dog is good. May you remain on the fun part of the rollercoaster for a good long while!
Many thanks for the update.

Aw, yay! I got a chuckle out of the vet’s comment you relayed earlier of “grumble she’s acting like a cat!“

Translation I found online,

Thanks for the update and so glad she’s continuing to do well. Lily is the best doggie. Sending all good thoughts your direction for Lily, you and your other critters. Lily is such a good girl. Yes she is!

Excellent news! Take the win for as long as it lasts… and try to get some sleep.
Will you be able to spend some quality time with Lily at the hospital this weekend?
Lizzy L
Thanks for sharing the good news with us. I’m hoping that it continues.

Gosh. This whole dreadful situation has had me thinking back to the beginning. When you adopted Lily from the pound. A tiny shivering ball of hurt. And she blossomed into a such a sweetie with her doe eyes. Hugs to you both…
hilzoy
This is wonderful.
Also: I will bet a non-negligible amount of Bitcoin Gold (ha ha ha, but I keep getting messages saying I have to do something with it) that the staff at the hospital know that you’re needy, but are absolutely fine with it. :)

How sweet it is to have some good news. Pulling for you both.

The first is “Brava, Lily” and the second is “dog bless you” in Morse code. I make a bracelet with semiprecious stones spelling out “dog bless you” for each person who adopts a Royal Bahamian potcake or is an especially enthusiastic dog person. I’d make one for JC if I thought he’d wear it.
Michael Demmons
Glad to hear this. Fingers crossed.
I don’t follow here as much as the rest of the crowd. I’ve seen lots of pictures of Lily, but I’m not sure I’ve seen her in someone’s arms before.
She’s a lot bigger than I thought – or maybe that’s a bit of an illusion.
Hopefully things keep looking up!
