My FIL is doing well and is well into recovery. So fingers are still crossed because the river is not yet forded, but the most dangerous stuff appears to be behind us. Thanks to all for well wishes, etc., you’re a great bunch of jackals, and I’m proud to be one of you.
Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures!
Today, pictures from valued commenter JoeyJoeJoe.
I took a trip to Gatlinburg and the Smokies from April 6-10, 2019.

Smoke’s coming down from the top of the mountain.

When the smoke and mist disappears, the view is much better.

Clingman’s Dome
There’s a ramp up to Clingman’s Dome. On a clear day, you can see seven states from the top if you move in a circle.

Good news about the father in law. Let’s keep the good news going.
Very nice scenery there, although I don’t think that is really smoke we are seeing in the pictures.

Love the Smokey Mountains. Thanks for sharing!
Glad your FiL is recovering well Alain. Best wishes to you all!

Photos 3, 4, and 5 will not load for me. I cannot view the images; I am told they have errors. If I try to reload the image on this page, the frame disappears. I have been having this problem for some weeks now. It is frustrating.

@Amir Khalid:
The pictures I can see are breathtaking.

Beautiful photos, Joey. Thank you for sharing them.
Good to hear FIL is on the mend. May he heal up better than new.

Wonderful stuff, and one of the few Simpson’s references I would get.
Glad there is good news Alain. Positive vibe emissions will be ongoing…

Beautiful photos!
Thankful that your FIL is doing well, Alain. Hugs to your family; you guys try to get some much needed rest today.
Alain
@Amir Khalid: I’m not sure what to say. The pictures are there and work for everyone. It sounds like something wrong with he CDN. Do you use a VPN? Try without it and see if hst makes a difference.

The smokey’s are only three to four hours north of me, but I’ve never been. The pictures are beautiful and I should make an effort to visit.
Amir Khalid
@Alain:
No, just regular Internet access through an ISP.
Sab
What are the 7 states you can see from Clingman’s Dome? Definitely Tennessee and North Carolina. Probably Georgia, South Carolina and Virginia. So what are the other two? West Virginia? Kentucky? Alabama?
I was going to complain about everyone misspelling Smoky Mountains, but then I spelled Clingman’s with a K.
Alain
@Amir Khalid: bizarre. Not sure what to say or do. I’ll see if I can figure it out
Sab
@Sab: I looked it up finally. Can see Alabama, cannot see WV from Clingman’s Dome.

Alain,
Thanks for the good news from your family! Glad he is recovering well, while this is now an SOP procedure, not routine when it’s your heart!
JJJ, great pictures, so unusual to have that kind of viewing weather up that high. Thanks.
The last time we were up there, it was all fog and mist and bluster and COLD. Even tho it was June.
Steve in the ATL
First time I tried moonshine was in the Smokey Mountains!
Also the last time.
Kristine
Many thanks for the lovely photos.
May your FIL’s recovery continue apace.

When I was a kid one of our few longer distance trips featured Clingmans Dome. Been back to the Smokies many times since. Always beautiful. Thanks for these great pictures!

@Steve in the ATL:
NC moonshine is the best.
Good news on the FIL.
@J R in WV:
Truer words! Having someone poking around in your heart is interesting and just plain scary. I got to watch the screens as they were doing my angiogram. At least I knew the results right away.
JoeyJoeJoe
Thanks, glad I got up there, even though I’m afraid of heights. I just assumed that it was smoke coming down. I definitely had a lot of moonshine, though not from my own well. Also not when I was driving down the mountain, or I probably would have driven over the edge of the cliff. The trip was good, even with the multitude of maga and djt hats and even stores with those cardboard models of djt at the entrance; the area is super Republican. Next trip is either Chicago or Los Angeles, I think

Continued best wishes to your FIL for an uneventful and standard recovery!
