By popular request (and vague threats about losing my FP status), duck videos. Bath time is the best time here.
Oh, and because you had to wait so long, bonus video of the monsters “helping” me with landscaping.
It’s all fun and games until someone loses a beak.
Respite open thread.

‘vague threats about losing my FP status’.
Fuck cole.
MazeDancer
Video is adorable. But does add an element missing from the also adorable still pics -Quacking!!
Ducks do make a bit of noise, don’t they?
trollhattan
True moments of zen.

Love Pearl’s one little white feather that wafts around as she flaps her wings in the bath.

@MazeDancer: Not just quacking. When they are wandering around they make this adorable guttural sound all the time. Just happy, content sounds.
TaMara (HFG)
@SiubhanDuinne: She still has feathers coming in, so when she sits in the grass, she leaves this little white ring of molted feathers around her.
mrmoshpotato
Every video, every broadcast needs to start a duck quack.
Thanks for sharing Tamara, and we look forward to this weekend’s cooking storm. (Or at least I do.)

So I stoppece by a Pizza Hut for lunch. sorry Pizza officienedos. The lady behind the counter seemed unhappy so I asked her what was The matter. She hadat herself and, gota MRI and only then found she had no insurance. She has been at Pizza Hut some years and thought her insurance rolled over. they told her no, she had to re-enroll each year, So now she’s out $2,000. She earns $12 an hour.
I don’t know the legality of that. but legal or not, that islow.

Just today, I installed duckduckgo browser for my android phone because it touted ‘total privacy’.
Coincidence? I think not.

Awe…this is so sweet :)
Love this :) :)

@mrmoshpotato:
The ring tone on my iPhone is the duck quack. Has been for years.
NotMax
Mother ducker.

Mmmmm. Tasty grubs & worms. How can they resist?
LuciaMia
They ARE helping you. Gobbling harmful grubs, like Japanese Beetles. Always hated squishing those when I unearthed them. (shudder).
Just hope theyre not going after the earthworms.

@plato:
Hey, keep it clean at least.

@SiubhanDuinne
Quite some years ago, a friend posed me a challenge, to provide him a ringtone of the sound made by a Tasmanian devil (not of the cartoon ilk).
Mission accomplished (and bottle of decent hooch collected as reward), he was a happy camper until he discovered it drove his significant other’s nine cats completely bonkers and sent them scurrying off in all directions. Even though it is not a sound they would readily encounter in nature it triggered something deep and primordial in their little skulls.

As long as it wasn’t Papa Johns you can still seek forgiveness.

Watched the puppy Bixby 2014 videos,
and then the gorgeous Bixby Snow Jan 2016.
Wuff- wuff.

Let’s all just hope Steve in the ATL stays away from this thread.

@NotMax: In case anyone was curious.
LuciaMia
@NotMax: Nine?
Butch
We have five pekins…..they’re in the fenced chicken yard with the rest of the chickies as long as the garden is growing because we discovered they really, really like tender young pepper plants They do have a pool there, however.

@MattF:
I can see why.
NotMax
@LuciaMia
Yeah, she (the significant other, not the friend) was a strange bird. Ended up institutionalized after they had split up.

Leon Redbone has died.
MattF
@SiubhanDuinne: Um, wait. Nine cats? Thatsa lotta catsa.
NotMax
@SiubhanDuinne
He also swore all nine cats would assume the prone position and form a worship semi-circle around the Carl Cthulhu I gave him as a gag gift if he set it on the floor and activated its flashing red eyes.
Betty Cracker
Duckies! We have a pair of wild ducks (Muscovy) who visit occasionally. I save veggie scraps for them. Sometimes they deign to eat it, sometimes not.

@SiubhanDuinne: NO! Aw, man.

@MattF: I was so thanks for saving me the google search!

@patrick II: Lots of cities and hospitals have programs to help low-income people pay such bills. My local hospital saved my ass by letting me off the hook when I was uninsured. You might mention it to her if you see her again.
RoonieRoo
Those are the videos I needed to brighten my day.
Mnemosyne
Also, you could probably figure out Penelope’s sex on your own, but it would require putting on a latex glove and sticking your finger up her butt (cloaca, technically) so I can see why you would be reluctant to do so. ?

@patrick II:
Ugh. Part of our health insurance problem is that people don’t understand how things like open enrollment periods work because they’ve never had health insurance before.
If you live in a reasonably blue state, or in Arizona, she may be able to enroll in Medicaid and get it paid that way.

@Gin & Tonic:
He has no room to complain given some of the places and things he’s eaten.
SiubhanDuinne
@opiejeanne:
Yup. Age 69 (though his obituary says 127, LOL).
LuciaMia
I think that would be Penelopes attitude as well.
Doug R
@Mnemosyne: Yeah that one duck was a little Mallardjusted about the new duck coming in the pool. That’s ok, she got a new clean pool anyway.
TaMara (HFG)
@Mnemosyne: LMAO
sukabi
Unearthing delicious bugs and worms just for them, very nice of you TaMara.
Just One More Canuck
@SiubhanDuinne: I have that for texts. I get strange looks, but so what
karen marie
It looks like you’re turning a planting bed. I recommend a pitch fork. It’s great for getting down into compacted soil deeper than you can do with a shovel. Plus it will come in handy when the revolution comes.
Just One More Canuck
@NotMax: According to Bugs Bunny, Tasmanian Devils do eat cats, so they were probably right to be frightened
orchid moon
Fantastic videos. They are a bit noisy with the happy quacking. Thanks, Tamara
J R in WV
Think the Tasmanian Devil was a mere youth… not loud enough, not scary enough, though plenty evil sounding.
The Ducks are great. Looks like Pearl will be the largest duck, hope neither of the older ducks bucks on account of size, also hope Pearl is willing to live and let live with the other sisters.
Miss Bianca
@MattF: Yeah, that’s kind of hair-raising…
