    This pretty much sums it up

    The USA had possession less than 40% of the time. They were outshot 20-10. Their outside backs looked vulnerable. The offense sputtered.

    And they’ve just beaten the home team, considered to be their toughest opponent in this Cup.

    The US plan was to let the French have the ball because France prefer to counterattack. The French left side players, Majri and Le Sommer, were terrible offensively. Crystal Dunn played very well. Mewis stepped back too quickly on the French goal keeping the French attackers onside

    This is actually under consideration, from what I know. It was tried a few months ago at a (men’s) professional match in Australia and was well-received.
