    * I think Trump truly believe extorting someone to do you a favor in return for you doing what you are obligated to do is a perfect call.

    Sure. But you know what, that won’t cover anything up, and it will be clear evidence of a felony. Nat Sec data isn’t kept on ephemeral devices like individual hard drives. It’s distributed and backed up in very secure ways. It’s impossible to destroy, by design, and no political appointee is allowed to control any of those systems – that’s career professional/civil servant space. Trying to do so is a felony and a pretty slam-dunk one at that.

    Others have mentioned the back-up of federal data, which includes every document ever created using federal computer systems. I didn’t work for the Federal government, but I worked with lots of Federal employees, and this seems accurate to me.

    I have to think that anyone who attempts to delete data right now will wind up in a Federal work camp or prison of some sort. Maybe not Florence CO or Guantanamo, Cuba, but somewhere far away from home.

    @J R in WV: It sure seems like it could be the case that the lackeys have reached the point where they are screwed no matter what, and are taking any risk to try to stop it from happening.  They probably feel like they have nothing left to lose.  I think that they are probably wrong about that though.  These actions could be the difference between 5-10-20 years and 15-30-life?  IDK.  I can hope that justice will prevail, but I have enough THC to make it through to Jan 20, 2021.  I hope.
