Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Finding joy where we can, and muddling through where we can’t.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

Come on, man.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

Not rolling over. fuck you, make me.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

Peak wingnut was a lie.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

The way to stop violence is to stop manufacturing the hatred that fuels it.

The world has changed, and neither one recognizes it.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

The kid is in bed, Thurston is sleeping with her, and it is super quiet.

What’s with three posts within seconds of each other when the last post was six hours earlier?

Aw, that’s nice about Thurston. I think of him as the most curmudgeonly of the beasts. Although maybe he’s just kind of stoic. Rosie seems to be pretty edgy.

We are having to adopt two new critters, my stepdaughter’s dog and cat. We already have an elderly cocker spaniel, and five cats already stressed by overcrowding. This should be fun.

The new dog and the cocker should be fine.

I have loved the new dog for years and wanted her. Problem is my special cat (big part siamese tuxedo) hates dogs and lets them know how he feels. Plus we are overcatted already. Our guys have been together since most of them were kittens, and they still feel overcatted.

The next month is going to be interesting but not fun at all.

@J R in WV: I rescued a turtle in traffic ten years ago. I could have lost fingers! Had I known then what I know now it might not have made it.
