Kevin Cramer is the junior senator from North Dakota. It’s high irony that a Senator from the state that has the only government-owned general service bank in the nation (The Bank of North Dakota — BND) releases an asslicking statement like that. BND was created in the 1919 to protect farmers from predatory lenders. Family farmers generally hate banks because they are out to fuck farmers at every turn. But, today, there are so few genuine family farmers in a “farm state” that Cramer can give a bank CEO a handjob on Twitter with zero consequences other than a dunk from a parody account.

yikes
guachi
Bet there are zero tweets from that Senator about meeting with regular Americans.

I have a long-running feud with SisterFromOhio, one of her closest BFF’s is a bigshot at BoA, made her mark during the 08-09 recession in some corner of the mortgage division. I asked her how many orphans her friend had to slaughter to keep her job. We’ve since decided to just not discuss it, so I’m guessing it was “many orphans.”
mrmoshpotato
Energy producers and the gun-humpers industry? Interesting combo. Hopefully it wasn’t about solar being evil and bad.

@guachi:
Few regular people can likely afford his time.
Baud
Um…I don’t know the specific context here, but I think the banks are on the good side, in that they are limiting funding to polluters and gun manufacturers. The Trump people tied to prohibit that “discrimination.” Cramer wants the banks to stop being so “woke” if I am correct.

The Wikipedia entry on this guy is – wow. Some highlights:
– 2020 voted against a bill he co-sponsored to sanction China because the Trump administration wanted him to.
– Supported cuts in SNAP while a representative from a state where Agriculture is the largest industry.
– Supported Trump’s 25% tax (tariffs) on imports even though it damaged North Dakota’s soybeans industry.
– Only vote in the Senate against a 2019 motion to recognize the Armenian Genocide.
Cacti
The best thing you can say for BoA is that they’re slightly less horrid than Wells Fargo.
I was truly sad that the subprime crash didn’t take Wells Fargo down with it.
mrmoshpotato
@VOR: GOP – “So? How crazy you want?”

@Baud: being less woke than a giant bank…wow, that’s got be as unwoke as it gets

@Baud: Everything that evil mutant did needs to be reversed.

@Cacti: Didn’t BofA swallow Countrywide? That didn’t help them in my book, though I know what you mean about WF, the smarmy hypocrites.
Baud
@Mike in NC:
That rule was never implemented. It was proposed too late. Biden has already shit canned the proposal.

@Steve in the ATL:
No, see you just don’t get it. “Globalists” and leftists are the ones who control all of our institutions, from large corporations to the news media, to banks like BoA, pushing their woke agenda on everyone else! Or so say proponents of the Dark Enlightenmen/neo-reactionary movement at least
Baud
@Steve in the ATL:
It’s basically comatose.
Goku (aka Amerikan Baka)
@Baud:
Good. Rules like that show they don’t actually believe in a “free market” and actually care more about reactionary cultural grievances, forcing their BS on everyone else.
Do Republicans even still give lip service to Reaganite “free market” ideas these days?

The point is, men’s bodies are implicated.

@Baud: Good men are.

@raven: I see in this morning’s COVID thread (Reuters item) that United Airlines has agreed against mandatory vaccinations for pilots. Are they full up with wingnuts in the cockpit?
However: carrot time too: Reuters: “The agreement between the airline and the union also adds that those pilots who have been vaccinated would be eligible for extra pay.”
So: UAL’s vaccinated pilots might get more money, and it may turn out they get the better overseas/international routes, if some countries decide COVID vaccination is required for entry.

@The Thin Black Duke: The better men.

@Cacti: He met with Wells Fargo last week. (and Visa after that)
also “Their conversation follows similar meetings Senator Cramer has hosted with JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, Wells Fargo President and CEO Charlie Scharf, and Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser this month.”

@Elizabelle: HR PERSON: “We could put you on the Frankfurt [Tokyo, Shanghai, Sydney, London….] route, but frankly you don’t have enough vacation days saved up.”
PILOT: “What?”
HR PERSON: “Because of their vaccine requirements, you would have to go directly from the plane to a hotel room where you would quarantine for 14 days. After each flight. And we’re certainly not paying you to sit in a hotel room for two weeks.”
Elizabelle
@Ken: Pretty much. I hope that scenario plays out. “How about a dedicated route throughout the midwest and south for the upcoming months? Lots and lots of takeoffs and landings, for a pro like you. Especially with thunderstorm and hurricane season upon us.”
I would imagine the back of the jet crew is more enthusiastic about vaccinating themselves against the

Okay, that made me laugh out loud.

@WaterGirl: Hmm, I dunno, might be too soon. Give it another day or two.
I wonder if anyone’s done a study of what makes “too soon”. I was just thinking about that last week, when I was flipping channels and hit a Hogan’s Heroes re-run. Apparently 20 years was enough to get over World War II.

@VOR:
I used to deal with Cramer when he was on the North Dakota Public Service Commission. (Who knew it was a steppingstone to the Senate?) He was actually the best one of the bunch, and objectively pretty good. If it weren’t that he’s now a United States Senator with way more power than he had in North Dakota, it would be fascinating to try and figure out what happened to him. Instead, it’s just frightening and appalling.
Elizabelle
@Steve in the ATL: Yeah, I do love that. Kansas City to Belarus. Would be good.

@Elizabelle:
One of our family friends is a retired flight attendant, yes a lot of pilots are wingnuts. She said Rush was a favorite listen in the cockpit when she was flying.
