Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

People are weird.

Hey Washington Post, ā€œDemocracy Dies in Darknessā€ was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

Celebrate the fucking wins.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

This blog will pay for itself.

Democracy cannot function without a free press.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Fight them, without becoming them!

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

What was going on at Waco 30 years before this upcoming Trump rally on Saturday? 🧐

I’m sure he’ll temper his remarks accordingly. https://t.co/w7V7tCAeA3 pic.twitter.com/ozZReIgzUX

— Pete Strzok (@petestrzok) March 18, 2023

Reagan started his presidential campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi to let his potential voters know he was a big fan of institutional racism. TFG wants to start his latest grift-rally in Waco, Texas to let his supporters know: After Trump (ME!), the world ends.

As good a place as any if you’re potentially facing an imminent standoff with law enforcement, I suppose. https://t.co/lGy1yLXuTm

Seems a bit *too* on the nose? https://t.co/pSixWyyilM

This is, I'm sure, exactly why Trump is going to Waco. https://t.co/ZfJ7Jy6QQ8

A deep insight here. Without Maggie we might not know that Donald Trump really doesn't want to be arrested pic.twitter.com/aov4yr0bal

Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Trump has no idea what Waco signifies or when it happened. Lest we forget, this dude looked directly into the sun during the eclipse.

@Alison Rose: Putin does. Those who are running Trump know what they’re doing.

This whole time he was just meant to be a spur to domestic terrorism. He still is. I’m curious if he’s more effective at that alive, or dead.

If I was him I’d want all the Secret Service, and would be more nervous than Joe Biden about it. If Putin wants him to be a martyr and the rightwingers to all go totally insane, then Trump is a dead man walking… or at least that is what people would’ve believed before the debacle in Ukraine.

Certainly his handlers knew.Ā  Only question in my mind: Did they *want* to incite comparisons?Ā  Or did they tell him why ‘the optics’ were bad, so TFG demanded the rally go ahead anyway?

Me, I’m assuming it was intentional (see: Reagan, Philadelphia), but if things go badly, the marketeers will absolutely pretend it was all The Big Guy’s fault.

I don’t think Trump wants to end up dead. He doesn’t care if a bunch of his supporters die, probably thinks it would inflame the rest but….so far the only people in prison are the little dupes and some of them have noticed that. Also most of them don’t want to be martyrs tho they don’t mind if a few others are so….i wonder if most of them might be saying lets stay home for this and watch. They also don’t have as many delusions that law enforcement and the military are going to all support them now.

Waco might be too bloody a history to invoke.

    @Chris Johnson:

Those who are running Trump know what they’re doing.

Assumes facts not in evidence.Ā  Nothing about Trump’s behavior post-presidency has demonstrated intelligent guidance.

    If Putin wants

The intelligence reports were clear that Putin is not directly in charge of Trump because he doesn’t have to be.Ā  Trump causes the chaos Putin wants.Ā  While Trump was president, Putin could ask for favors occasionally, but Trump was great at doing things Putin wanted because Trump also wanted them.

As for the OP, I could see it being deliberate, and I could see it being an accident.Ā Ā  I could see Trump knowing the date and significance, because as dumb a fuck as he is, he’s a Nazi, this is his area of interest, and it happened during a period when he was more cognitively functional and paying attention.Ā  We know the 80s were hugely formative for him.

The fact that he is still running around free to do this is a problem. That is why I think all the delays and procedural motions and appeals go too far to delay prosecution. I get they are there to protect the innocent. There need to be some things in place to give innocent people the opportunity to contest a false conviction. However, our current system goes too far and the result is that people like Trump are freely flouncing about around being arsonists. Our system needs a better balance between protecting the accused and protecting the public.

I lived in Waco for 13 years.Ā  The airport is a completely dumbass place for a rally.Ā  It’s just a tiny regional airport that doesn’t even have a very big parking lot.Ā  I don’t get it.Ā  There are 100 better places in Waco to hold a rally.Ā  Holding a rally there is like holding a rally in a strip mall parking lot.Ā  Ā  If they have more than say 200 people show up there will be no parking and since it is in the middle of nowhere, no place to park and walk.

On the other hand, it’s unlikely TFG will be involuntarily trapped there if the violence he craves does break out.

Also, given how his campaign is notorious for stiffing event sites, it might be the best his handlers could do without putting down a steep deposit that TFG wouldn’t want to lose, even assuming he’s good for it.

So Maggie Haberman, paid Trump apologist, writes:

Hard to overstate how much anxiety Trump, who was first criminally investigated in the late 1970s, has around the possibility of being arrested

So why did Trump keep committing crimes for the past 40+ years?Ā  Does Maggs mean that the threat of criminal prosecution does not inhibit criminal behavior? Surely not!

What a sorry situation Maggs finds herself in — covering the actions of a despicable criminal, instead of a genius level political leader! What a great career she faces — at least she doesn’t face subpoenas and grand jury testimony leading to a federal criminal indictment… or does she?

Who can tell at this point.

    Just asking questions, right!??
