YAY!

You are trusting TFNYT?
Betty
I just saw that! Enjoy your cake!
Bill K
About time someone did it.
Alison Rose
I DON’T HAVE ANY CAKE DAMN IT.
It’ll have to be an ice cream sammich.
Will we get an official announcement from Bragg? I don’t know how these things work.
bbleh
This is gonna get some people’s knickers in a serious twist …
bbleh
@Alison Rose: No, it’s under seal. As I understand it, it will officially be made public when he’s arraigned, unless for some reason they announce it earlier.
Argiope
It’s chocolate wacky cake and prosecco day! I kept the recipe. Time to bake and pop a cork!!
bbleh
@japa21: They cite four sources. I can’t imagine they’d go to press without feeling pretty certain about it.
Alison Rose
@bbleh: And do we know how long that usually takes? I mean, I know there’s nothing “usual” about this case, but on average.
prostratedragon
Appropriate choral selection.

👍
Gin & Tonic
I might go fix a cocktail.
Layer8Problem
I want a martini! A gin martini, with a modicum of vermouth! No, I want TWO martinis, and a big headache afterward!
Alison Rose
The NYT home page is a joy to behold, even with his ugly fucking face. I want someone to print it on a giant billboard and drive it around Mar-a-Lago.
Alison Rose
@Gin & Tonic: Times like this, I wish I drank. ICE CREAM SAMMICH AND CRANBERRY JUICE IT IS, I GUESS.
bbleh
@Alison Rose: again NAL, but as I understand it, it’s supposed to happen quickly — I’ve read elsewhere within a matter of days in this case. And in this case I would guess it depends on how quickly they can come to terms on how and where he will surrender and be arraigned. I read elsewhere that at least the idea was floated of him being arraigned remotely so he wouldn’t have to travel physically to NY, but no idea whether that went anywhere, or whether Bragg would even entertain it
Ah .. NYT says he lawyers say he WILL travel to NY
Layer8Problem
@Gin & Tonic: I suggest gin.
RevRick
Less than two and a half hours from your previous, despairing post, WaterGirl
Alison Rose
@bbleh: do we get a perp walk?????? preferably when they didn’t give him time to put makeup on??????? so he looks extra pathetic??????
oh, reading the rest of your comment, maybe no perp walk. But I want one!!
Alison Rose
LOL dude on MSNBC reminding us that he’s “presumed innocent”.
WaterGirl
@RevRick: Not a despairing post! A hopeful post, then some discouraging news.
But you’ll see that I baked my pie this afternoon (cherry galette to be precise) and I hadn’t cut into it yet because I was holding out for indictment news that I thought was possible, though not terribly likely
RevRick
@Layer8Problem: My wife and I are going out to dinner tonight. I will order their most expensive Scotch!
bbleh
@Alison Rose: All I want is a copy of the mugshot. Which is not normally released in NY, and which I read somewhere the Commissioner said better-damn-not-be, but I can’t imagine it won’t leak within a day. Can you imagine how much someone will get paid for it? (Alvin Bragg: creating jobs for New Yorkers.)
RevRick
@WaterGirl: Enjoy the pie. Looks delish.
And…I’m salivating like crazy now.
Alison Rose
@bbleh: If I were in a job to be in a position to do so, you best believe I’d leak that shit in a HOT SECOND. I wouldn’t even need money to do so. The nationwide joy would be payment enough.
StringOnAStick
@WaterGirl: Galette’s are the best. Cherry, the perfect fruit for baking, makes this perfect.
I have 11 quarts of pie cherries left that I harvested last year. I might roust my Covid-dragging ass and go bake something in celebration.
Jackie
@japa21: FAUX News is reporting it – not that they’re a reliable source 😂
OHJo
May this be just the first of many!
trucmat
I chose this thread to celebrate because it has better pie. Still … I am trained to keep my hopes in check so will wait to see Don in a courtroom before commencing full gloating.
WaterGirl
@RevRick: Better photo!

Good news!
One way to make more good news: phonebanking (from anywhere) to flip the Wisconsin state supreme court: time slots Saturday, Sunday, (9 am seems early to call on a weekend), Monday, and Tuesday (election day). Hoping someone knows of an opportunity to phone bank for Jodi Habush Sinykin for state senate, to get out voters who can cast 2 votes to replace Republicans with Democrats.

WG, you have inspired me! I have a super easy vegan chocolate cupcake recipe that never fails. I am going to head to the kitchen and make some!

CAKE, ICE CREAM, AND VODKA.
Now if they’ll just convict him in this one and follow up with indictments in the strong cases.
And yes, I sadly agreed with your previous post, but I must prefer this one!
persistentillusion
Today is my birthday and I just received the present I really, really wanted. Woohoo!
WaterGirl
@evap: Yay!
*Does that make me inspirational? :-)
Baud
@persistentillusion:
Happy birthday!
UncleEbeneezer
Brought to you by the First Black DA of Manhattan!!
Take that, Bragg-bashers :)
Another Scott
@UncleEbeneezer: But, but, they said that he dropped the cases when he took over!
They said the grand jury was not meeting again until weeks from now!
They said that …!
It’s almost like we can’t trust the quality of prosecutor and grand jury gossip!!11ONE
I hope there are more pleasant surprises in the actual indictment, and that the case is strong enough for conviction.
It’s a good day.
Happy Birthday, persistentillusion and all who celebrate. It’s Goya’s birthday today, too. No, not the beans!!1
Cheers,
Scott.

In other news, the Parliament of Turkiye has voted to approve Finland’s application to join NATO. As they say, Putin is a master strategist.
UncleEbeneezer
@Alison Rose: We’re making banana bread instead. It’s all good!!
evodevo
@Alison Rose:
Well, the TX AG has been under indictment for securities fraud for EIGHT YEARS and still cruisin’
UncleEbeneezer
@Another Scott: And a big old F-U to Mark Pomerantz!
Rob
Hooray! I’ll have to acquire cake of my own, tomorrow.
Rob
@Gin & Tonic: Whoa, excellent news
Glidwrith
@WaterGirl: Ma’am, I would like the recipe for that dessert, not only because it sounds delicious, but I want it to be THE recipe to use to remember when we finally turned the corner.

@Baud: TY
Amir Khalid
This is big news. I remember when Najib was finally charged in court. It wasn’t the end of the road, there was still a long way to go, but at least we Malaysians knew the process was in motion. I reckon that’s how you feel over there.
Layer8Problem
@Gin & Tonic: Finland in NATO, damn, speed the day. Russians have grim memories of the Finns in battle.
WaterGirl
@Glidwrith: I’m too excited right now, but I will put up the recipe today or tomorrow.
Glidwrith
@WaterGirl: Great! Thanks!!!!!!

We went to the Hawaiian sourdough bakery this morning for a loaf of their weekly cranberry walnut sourdough bread. Impulse purchased their last chocolate donut, a pair of molasses/candied ginger cookies, a blueberry muffin and a gooey, sticky caramel roll but no cake. Can I still come to the party?
frosty
Enjoy your baking and have a slice for me!
Gin & Tonic
@Layer8Problem: An oldie but goodie here.

If I may say, it’s rude to promise cake, and not deliver. I mean, I could imagine putting someone into a near impossible set of puzzle-traps, forcing them to use an experimental weapon to create bridges… well, “portals” is a better word, I guess. I could see doing *that*. But to promise cake, and not deliver? Dear lord, if the cake is a lie, how can we trust any justice in any part of human society?
Oh, right: trump was indicted.
(Yes, I know, she mentioned she was making pie instead in another, *earlier* post, but if you think I fought through a maze of puzzle-traps intended to keep me captive indefinitely, all for the promise of cake, and will meekly accept pie, you have another think coming!)
prostratedragon
persistentillusion, Happy Birthday!
Kristine
@WaterGirl: Looks delish!
WaterGirl
@Glidwrith: Never mind, did you see that I put the recipe in one of the posts today after all?
WaterGirl
@SiubhanDuinne: It’s very yummy, would you like a piece?
WaterGirl
@SomeRandomGuy: I can make cake. :-)
Layer8Problem
@Gin & Tonic: I’ve had that one saved, knowing two people of Finnish extraction.

This Little Debbie Fried Pie is for you!
Albatrossity
Didn’t make a cake, but I will certainly be hoisting a glass of wine to toast Bragg and the grand jurors, who did the right thing and moved the needle today!
