Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the head of Trump's legal team.
Keep sending those donations in MAGA, but please stop acting so shocked and outraged when Trump loses case after case.

Alina Habba, newly blind blond (typo), takes time away from her demanding new position as Melania’s rally stand-in to flirt with some no-doubt-influential right-wing podcasters:
Habba asked if Trump hired her because she’s hot: “I don’t think I’d be on TV or sitting here if I didn’t look the way I look. I think I caught attention. I’m very honest about that and I don’t mind. I’m not a feminist … You have to honest, it doesn’t hurt to be good looking.” pic.twitter.com/cCu2ObwwdI

TFG’s handlers are understandably nervous about the latest cascade of dropped shoes, per The Hill:
Former President Trump’s attorney Alina Habba on Wednesday said the former president is concerned the U.S. Supreme Court justices may “shy away from being pro-Trump,” and rule against him in regard to the recent decisions in Colorado and Maine that kicked him off the states’ 2024 primary ballots.
Responding to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman’s recent comments about Trump’s concerns, Habba during an interview on Fox News said, “That’s a concern he’s voiced to me, he’s voiced to everybody publicly, not privately. And I can tell you that his concern is a valid one.”
“You know, Republicans are conservative, they get nervous. They unfortunately … sometimes shy away from being pro-Trump because they feel that even if the law is on our side, they are swayed much like the Democratic side, right?” Habba told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum. “So they’re trying so hard to look neutral that sometimes, they make the wrong call.” …
Habba: I think it should be a slam dunk in the supreme court. I have faith in them. You know, people like Kavanaugh, who the president fought for, who the president went through hell to get into place. He'll step up. pic.twitter.com/gQo1h55t6N

A reminder of Habba’s ‘fake smart’, from Salon, mid-December — “Trump lawyer torched for bragging about being sanctioned nearly $1 million over “frivolous” lawsuit”:
Trump lawyer Alina Habba took to the stage of an ultra-conservative convention over the weekend to brag about being sanctioned nearly $1 million by a Florida-based federal judge earlier this year.
While delivering a speech at the four-day America Fest in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, Habba recounted the outcome of a lawsuit she filed on behalf of former President Donald Trump against Hillary Clinton and dozens of federal officials that was assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Donald Middlebrooks, a Clinton-appointee, and dismissed in January of this year…
Trump brought the sprawling lawsuit against Clinton and 30 other defendants, including FBI and Justice Department officials such as former FBI Director James Comey, in March of 2022, accusing the group of conspiring to spread false allegations of collusion between his campaign and Russia during the 2016 White House contest.
Middlebrooks dismissed the lawsuit that September in a scathing order, saying that the suit was “seeking to flaunt a two-hundred-page political manifesto outlining his grievances against those that have opposed him,” CNBC reported…
Legal experts were quick to note online that Habba’s use of her legal penalty to rally support was questionable, also pointing out that news outlets had followed the lawsuit throughout its duration.
In her Sunday speech, Habba went on to recall the “probably 50 lawyers representing all of the radical left” in the case before returning to the lawsuit’s dismissal.
Lawyer is sanctioned by a federal judge for bringing a frivolous case and blames the media for . . . not giving the sanction ruling enough attention. (P.S. it got a lot of attention: https://t.co/4XwPeFbSh2.) https://t.co/Cy1qDPhTBL
— Orin Kerr (@OrinKerr) December 18, 2023
… “Parking garage lawyer who brought a case so frivolous she got sanctioned by the judge is now whining about it,” national security attorney Bradley Moss added, referring to Habba’s previous job as general counsel for a parking garage company…
January’s fine marked the second time Trump and Habba were sanctioned in the lawsuit, following the $50,000 sanction sought by a single defendant, Charles Dolan, in November 2022. The second sanction was sought by the remaining defendants…

There is no need for the SC to step into the issue of whether SFB is on the ballot. Most 3rd party candidates are kept off the ballot in more than one state. If the SC rules that Trump MUST be on the ballot, they will be declaring that there are two official political parties that cannot be removed.

I hope she demanded that Dump put a ton of donations from dumbasses in escrow. Otherwise, she ain’t getting paid.
Anne Laurie
She’s young, ‘polished’ (plastic-ed), and getting blonder by the video appearance. That’s good enough for a worn old lech like TFG and his unchoosy acolytes.
Doubt Melania cares that Habba’s (per speculation) ‘gunning to be Wife #4’… Anchor baby Barron turns 18 in a few months; Melania’s pre-nup is already locked down; and if it comes to defending Daddy’s money, she knows she can count on Jarvanka, DonJr & Eric to do the gruntwork.

TFG apparently thinks that own goals count just as much as regular ones, at least for his team.

Diving deep into pedantry/copy editor mode, no period in Ms — it’s not an abbreviation., it’s an identifier without a root term.

It’s so odd how all the women in Trump’s vicinity have those weird injections to give them duck lips. Who decided that’s attractive? Maybe Trumps having his blond lawyer in her low-cut top looking like she’s making kissy face sitting next to him. Most people would prefer professional and competent.

Finally got around to looking at her Wiki page. It’s interesting.

I’m kind of boggling at anyone believing they can “fake being smart.” I mean, fake sounding smart I could maybe buy, but not getting that of you’re doing things that require brains, faking it isn’t a substitute.
I guess it’s pure Dunning-Kruger, incompetent people also tend to be incompetent at understanding they’re incompetent…

@Jay: I’m going to add you to the list of people who need to write an autobiography. Somebody suggested Ruckus should. From what I read you’ve got a hell of a backstory. Get to it!
More seriously, my mom took a class in it where she wrote chapters by subject, not by chronology. When the dementia started to hit it helped her remember who she was. My chapter on travels is pretty well researched. Next comes cars I’ve owned and scrapped. I’d like to do “sex and drugs and rock and roll” … maybe just the last!
frosty
@NotMax: Explain Mr. and Mrs. to me then. Miss and Master, I’ll agree with but they’re kind of obsolete.
opiejeanne
She’s newly blind? I can’t find anything out about that, so is it maybe a typo for newly blond?
Chetan Murthy
@frosty: Dictionary says “Master” and “Mistress”.
Jim Appleton
@frosty: Mr. is an abbreviation of “Master,” Mrs. is an abbreviation originally of “Mistress,” though long abandoned.
Ms is not an abbreviation of anything, it’s a way to refer to a woman who is either unmarried or who identifies as other than bound to convention.
eclare
@opiejeanne:
I wondered about that, too. I bet you’re right, typo for blonde.

Too bad that I’m so ugly that I had to depend on my knowledge, competence and skills for steady employment. Not…lol! She’s so fucking stupid that she brags on her looks taking her places, not realizing that she is fitting into the very stereotype that conservative men hold regarding women and their accomplishments (her looks got her where she is/she screwed her way into her position).
She’s shallow and stupid, and proudly so. No wonder Hair Furor likes her.
Jay
@frosty:
In the early 80’s, I made some money as a male stripper, back when it was fringe. So I had to learn how to dance. Did bus tours as far out as Manitoba. A bunch of “the crew” were not cis/het.
Decades later, a friend in Kamloops who worked as a drag performer, came up with the idea of a “Drag School”. So I signed up, mostly to support them. Man, it involved a lot of shaving and makeup. It was fun though.
All comic’s should go to Drag School, because it teaches you how to be properly funny, scalding, bitchy to hecklers and other people
Yeah, my life has been interesting, so far.

I don’t care how good he think she looks, Trump knows enough to have good lawyers if he can. This woman means he really can’t get any good ones. Probably not enough money, and they think he is going to lose in ways that reflect badly on them or ruin their reputations. His bad client reputation is getting into jail time territory.
Also what kind of idiot woman wants to marry Trump now when he is facing jail and asset stripping fines? I doubt this poor lawyer would be any good at negotiating a good prenuptial anyway. I wonder how much good Melanie’s will prove worth when all the lawsuits and investigations are done. I expect Trumps empire to crash and burn.

“Ms.” was a deliberate construction, not an abbreviation. But the period is part of it.

I think it is interesting she thinks she is pretty. The nose job, blond dye job, tons of makeup look isn’t something I find attractive. She looks like the cookie cutter wannabe version of beauty.
Kay
Criminal defense lawyers don’t like the very broad RICO statutes (like the one in GA) because they think they’re a threat to civil liberties, in the abstract. However, they also say a competent defense can beat a RICO charge because RICO cases ask that a jury make factual and cognitive connections that juries are often unwilling or unable to make. The cases against Trump won’t be easy to win. It’s a very good thing that he’s too cheap and arrogant to hire good lawyers.
Timill
@Steeplejack: I take it as a dual-use abbreviation of either Miss or Mrs./Mistress, so you can’t tell which is being shortened.
Tony G
@Alison Rose: She has that Fox News Barbie Doll look. That’s enough to be attractive to an old guy like Trump.
NotMax
@Steeplejack
I’ll grudgingly concede the period has become accepted in American English (at the same time without the no period version becoming verboten) while in British English the term remains unadorned.
However when used in a headline that period just looks wonky, impeding the flow by emphasizing it is not an abbreviation for anything the interior voice automatically translates and sounds out in full.
@RedDirtGirl

Not only is Habba a phenomenally incompetent lawyer, she’s also an ethical dumpster fire. As Liz Dye writes in this explainer, a few years ago, Habba worked to get a Trump Bedminster employee to drop a sexual harassment complaint against the club’s restaurant manager, settling for a piddling amount and signing an NDA . Only she 1. pretended she wasn’t a lawyer, just a “good friend” giving her some advice on the down-low, 2. got the woman to fire her current attorney, so she was unrepresented when signing the NDA, despite the fact that, 3. NDA’s over sexual harassment matters like this are unenforceable and essentially illegal in NJ.
So the woman has lawyered up again and is going after Habba on professional ethics violations, and then hopefully Trump Bedminster for a lot more than the few grand she accepted via the illegal NDA. We all know how excruciatingly hard it is to get even the worst lawyers disciplined or disbarred, but from what Dye writes, none of this is any kind of gray area; it’s legal ethics 101 that anyone who has been to law school knows inside and out, even the shitty, stupid people who went to a 3rd-tier school. Hopefully she won’t be a lawyer much longer.
kindness
We all know Trump always demands ‘his’ cut in any situation. I don’t think I’m alone in thinking Trump hired Habba because she lets him wet his beak if you know what I mean.

@RedDirtGirl: Journalism is where I learned to copy-edit, and there are style guides produced by entities like the AP. You also need an excellent knowledge of English grammar. A broad base of knowledge in a variety of fields (for general copy-editing), or in the field you plan to specialize in (like editing scientific or medical articles) is important.
I remember seeing pages on Facebook, for instance, that present you with a paragraph and you try to correct the errors and then you compare your edits to the answer. I don’t know where those sites are anymore, though.
I also wonder if junior colleges might have courses.
