Hope you're enjoying our second holiday in less than a month that celebrates the birth of a dark-skinned peace advocate who constantly criticized the excesses of the rich.

Dean Phillips decides MLK Day is the best time to do a Spaces with the guy who bought Twitter so he could unban every white supremacist who ever used this site. https://t.co/hQln8yCmlx

(TBF, RFK Jr claims his father & uncle didn’t really want the FBI to do those terrible things, they were just setting things up to give them an excuse to break the agency during a second term… )
dmsilev
In the interests of completion, shouldn’t we also learn what Marianne Williamson is up to today?
Just kidding. Even by Democratic vanity candidate standards, nobody cares.
Manyakitty
Ugh. More failsons. The sheer volume of people with more money than sense says everything about our tax code.
Alison Rose
they gonna read their slash fic aloud?
dmsilev
Shouldn’t Dean Philips be in Iowa railing against The Democratic Establishment and their suppression of Iowans’ God-given right to have personal conversations with each and every Presidential candidate? Or is it too cold there for him? Or maybe he just doesn’t like deep-fried corn.
Baud
Who is Jason?
dmsilev
@Baud: Judging by the caliber of the other people in the conversation, I’m going to go with “villain in the Friday the 13th movies”.
Baud
@dmsilev:
If he does his thing, I would pay to see that movie at the theater.
Mr. Bemused Senior
@Baud: @dmsilev:
I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for clearing that up.
Chetan Murthy
@Mr. Bemused Senior: Perhaps Jason Calacanis ? He seems to be mixed-up in a lot of these shitty conversations with shitty failson white supremacist assholes.
The Kropenhagen Interpretation
@dmsilev: Sad, really. If Marianne Williamson had come to my attention as anything other than a Presidential candidate, I might have been interested in what she had to say.
Alison Rose
@Chetan Murthy: Yes, and this is his bio:

I’ll meet you there and spring for popcorn!

Joe Manchin vows to meet Biden and use No Labels threat to force policy shift to center
Baud
@Percysowner:
What a goober.
The Kropenhagen Interpretation
@Percysowner: Biden’s at the center, you wingnut maniac (Manchin). I’ll miss your vote but I won’t miss your corruption or phony posturing.
LiminalOwl
@The Kropenhagen Interpretation: Prosperity consciousness and manifesting your own reality?
dmsilev
@Percysowner: Translation: “PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEEEEE! I WILL NOT BE IGNORED!”
smith
@Percysowner: How is it that Manchin hasn’t yet woken up to the fact that he’s a lame duck? And that his nonexistent national popularity means that a No Labels campaign, especially at this late date, is no threat to Biden?
David ⛄ 🎅The Establishment🎄 🦌 🕎 Koch
Pentagon issues official statement denying Taylor Swift is part of the deep state.
Atomic Blonde
mrmoshpotato
@dmsilev: What about Cenk’s ratfucking ass?
japa21
@The Kropenhagen Interpretation: Which says a lot of where this country is moving, if Biden is at the Center. His polices would have been considered rather leftist even 10 years ago.
Mr. Bemused Senior
Aha! Proof!!1!
The Kropenhagen Interpretation
@LiminalOwl: I love listening about matters of spirituality. I learn and adapt good ideas to my own spiritual thinking.
I’m not familiar with her commercial product, but what you describe sounds too mundane, like prosperity gospel for agnostics.
If that’s the case, I was wrong. Her best face is the face that’s running for President. Poor lost soul.
bbleh
@Percysowner: @The Kropenhagen Interpretation: @dmsilev: @smith: as a Manchin constituent 🙄 I’m with dmsilev: it’s just a brand-maintenance reflex by someone, ah, not as skilled as others at such things. I’m glad to see the media aren’t bothering with it, although of course his timing probably couldn’t be worse.
Speaking of which, the MSM websites look like a puppy on meth chasing its own tail. OMGIOWA CAUCUSES OMGOMGCOLD AND SNOW TRUMPOMG would you PLEEEEASE click on at least ONE of our frantically hyperventilating and constantly updated articles PLEEEEEEASE?!?
Baud
@bbleh:
You broke the blog slightly.
mrmoshpotato
@Manyakitty: PREACH!
bbleh
@Baud: [sigh] and “disruption” is SO last decade. How embarrassing …
mrmoshpotato
@The Kropenhagen Interpretation: You would’ve bought her claptrap about healing crystals?
BethanyAnne
One of my friends got deeply into Marianne Williamson and “A Course in Miracles” in the 90s. It was insufferable nonsense. We drifted apart. I couldn’t deal with the silliness of “if you believe it, it will happen.” I watched him believe it. I watched it not happen. She’s always been selling a con.
mrmoshpotato
Can we fix comment 24?
mrmoshpotato
@Mr. Bemused Senior: LOL!
WaterGirl
@mrmoshpotato: Fixed.
mrmoshpotato
@WaterGirl: Thanks.
WaterGirl
@mrmoshpotato: It’s good when the phone peeps call attention to the broken margins. Being on a laptop, I don’t see it.
Matt McIrvin
@Alison Rose: I don’t believe “provocative” is a good thing any more.
The Kropenhagen Interpretation
@mrmoshpotato: As I said a little further down, I’m not familiar with our typical commercial output.
I practice spirituality for its benefits to my emotional stability. If you’re promising material benefit from spiritual practice, you’re a grifter and/or cuckoo crazypants.
I said I might have considered what she had to say. Given what I’ve gleaned from this thread, it seems I wouldn’t have found much of it very edifying.
mrmoshpotato
And there’s snow flying in Orchard Park, NY! Go Bills!
Ben Cisco
@bbleh: (old Steve Rogers) “No, I don’t think I will.”😆
The Kropenhagen Interpretation
Then you haven’t seen me in my swimwear…
bbleh
@mrmoshpotato: @WaterGirl: huh — looked ok on my screen — everything on one line, no noticeable breaks. was it a small-screen thing? oh well, sorry. (ah, per 34, apparently so)
HumboldtBlue
Playing music.
WaterGirl
@bbleh: Yeah, it breaks the margins on phones. So I only know about it if someone tells me.
Steep often texts me about margin breaks so I can fix the right away. But only if he’s reading the thread, of course!
Lyrebird
@The Kropenhagen Interpretation: Fwiw the main Williamson bit I have appreciated is what got circulated falsely (not by her) as a quote from Nelson Mandela:
I’ve never been interested in the rest, but someone forwarded me that & I appreciated it.
mrmoshpotato
@bbleh: Busts the margins on phones. :)
The Kropenhagen Interpretation
@Lyrebird: See? That’s lovely.
bbleh
@WaterGirl: @mrmoshpotato: so what you’re telling me is, Bill Gates is trying again to CONTROL WHAT I SAY!! Just like with those 5G-chip “vaccinations!” Ohhh, these people never stop!!

@David ⛄ 🎅The Establishment🎄 🦌 🕎 Koch:
Sure, Jan.

@bbleh: Yes.

Reverse Bay of Pigs and the CIA. Use plausible deniability against the secret police.
Jinchi
Considering RFK Jr. was 9 when his uncle’s presidency ended, I’m not sure he exactly had inside information the MLK/FBI controversy. But if he’s arguing that his Dad and Uncle were setting the whole thing up as a gotcha to take down the FBI, that sounds worse to me.
Sort of like Trump using Betsy Devos to “prove” public education is a failure and Louis Dejoy to show that the Post Office is incapable of delivering the mail.
Dmbeaster
There is probably one correct idea here. RFK and JFK were fearful about Hoover blackmail, so let him do what he wanted re MLK.
