Maybe for you but not for me. It’s America’s Funniest Home Videos in this house.
Cacti
Don’t have cable. Have never seen a single episode of True Blood, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, The Borgias, The Sopranos, etc.
Southern Beale
We’re watching The Tony’s.
In other news, Dylan Ratigan is leaving MSNBC, hope he does something good with whatever this new venture is.

@Cacti: Same here Cacti. But AFV works pretty well for entertainment for us. It’s my daughter’s favorite show, and I laugh pretty hard some times too.

On the PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4’s multiplayer environment is closing on Tuesday after 4 years of fun. I’m recording the available audio tracks for players to play by as part of a posterity project.
I stopped playing this game on a regular basis back in 2010, but I still liked logging in every day & messing around. I’m going to miss logging in & running around in my customized uniform.

Dad’s b-day, so my brother is cooking enchiladas. My brother is also going out of his way to be an asshole to me. Because I chose to be an invalid for six weeks just to annoy him. Sigh.
Culture of Truth
@Cacti: Actually they’re all the same show.
Culture of Truth
What demented programmer put The Wizard of Oz up against the Tony awards???
cathyx
@Yutsano: That’s what brothers are for. Mine was too and still is.

Sad GoT is done for the season. I don’t watch a lot of the popular shows – no Mad Men, True Blood, never watched Sopranos or The Wire or any of those things, but suddenly this year Sunday night became my TV night, with GoT, Veep and Girls. GoT ended last week, Veep ends tonight, not sure about Girls…and then I’ll be back to endless L&O reruns, 48 Hours Mystery, soccer and Giants games.

And just to mix themes up. The best cover of Hey Mickey! that wasn’t: Timebomb

I thought this piece was hilarious: how the world sees America through the eyes of foreign travel guides.

What , noone for the Tony Awards? At least to catch the opening number, (last year was fantastic.)
Comrade Mary
I can NOT wait for season 5 of Breaking Bad to come back on July 15.
All Hail the King.

@Southern Beale:
“New Venture” = rehab? Seriously though, the few times I watched Radigan, couldn’t stand it. Dude seemed way erratic to me and to quick to place any and all blame for the current economy on Dems and he def played in the field of false equivalences alot.

Gah I ended up watching On Demand, Hollywood Treasures and Haunted Collectables. I love Hollywood Treasures, the Ruby Slippers episode was brilliant. Also Matt Smith on Top Gear was brilliant. I have come to the point that I HATE and I mean ABSOLUTELY FUCKING HATE adverts on TV, they are either trying to sell me a fucking drug I do not want or need or trying to convince me to INVEST is something when I am living paycheck to paycheck. I am not interested in E-trade, or fucking Chuck, or Ameri-trade or whatever the fuck you think I actually have money for that I have to put in my car to get me to work on a daily basis you morons.
lamh35
ok, I know this is a low blow and probably just a brain fart, but I so can’t stand the man, that I just though “Really R-money…really”

@danah gaz (fka gaz):
Did you like the debut of Comedy Bang Bang! (the TV show)?
lamh35
Just spent the last 2 hours watching Nickelodean movie called “Rags” with Keke Palmer (Akeelah and the Bee..) and I.JUST.COULDN’T.TURN.IT.OFF!!!
The whole time, I felt like Danny Glover in “Lethal Weapon”. I just keep thinking “I’m too old for this shit”!
So yeah, I’m way ready for some “mature audience” entertainment…love TrueBlood.
At the very least, the vampire actually kill people, drink blood, die in the sunlight and are oversexual (ala Ann Rice)…just like I like ’em, unlike some tween vampires (I see you twilight…blah)
danah gaz (fka gaz)
@freelancer: I’ve never even heard of it

There’s also the final for Next Food Network Star at 9 EDT for those of us that like to cook. Vampires, of course, prefer carne cruda, not so complex food prep.

@Cacti:
For the time being I have sat TV, which I like, but have never felt HBO or Showtime was worth the Premium price. $18/month for HBO is just too muckin’ fuch for what ya get and Showtime didn’t have it’s so-called act together until just recently, so I somehow cowboyed on without them. After years of buying expensive music CDs with maybe only one good song I’m sensitive about wasting money and I’m pretty selective with what I watch. I have gotten into the habit of reading the reviews from people who pony up the dough and watch the first-run showing, finding out what sucks and what’s good, and then borrowing the entire series it from my local Socialist Repository of Information (the Deschutes Public Library) when it comes out on DVD.

Watched all 4 years of Mad Men over a week w/ no commercials. Got all three years of Deadwood (which was fab), I’m 14th of 89 waiting for Game of Thrones, Season One (I’ll have that by the end of the month as they have multiple copies) watched the first season of Boardwalk Empire last week (which was also fab. Steve Buscemi rulez!) and I’ve seen all the top 50 movies of the past couple years by simply having a library card and online access.
Bendites love their library and they love us right back.Get a DVD player and experience borrowing. Or get Netflix. It’s not much $$$ and they have everything.

OT. Went to watch Prometheus (prelude to the original “Alien”). Even splurged for IMAX 3D. Disappointing. There are a few interesting effects but none that wouldn’t be just as interesting in 2D. But the main issue is that the plot meanders and is shamelessly repetitive of the original “Alien” and is so tiresomely CGI without the needed character development.
Would I see it again? No. Would I see anything else by Ridley Scott again? Yes, and I have, especially “Blade Runner” but also the Alien series. He just failed here.

GoT: Not enough tits, ass, violence and gore…I hope season three kicks those items up a notch :-)
Anyone want to take my Operations Management final for me? It’s on-line. I could take it, but I feel like I have to study first and damn I just don’t care enough to study right now.
I really wish there was Matrix-like set-up, where everything I need to know could just be downloaded into my brain.
I’d be O.K. with robots using me as a battery, as long as I don’t have to do homework or study.
Mr Stagger Lee
I am catching up on my Breaking Bad, cannot wait for the premier 5th and final season, also waiting for Alphas also.
Mike in NC
@mainmati:
Supposedly he has a sequel in the works for “Blade Runner” (2014?) but the details have yet to be fleshed out. Mind you, the guy is now 74, so don’t get your hopes up.

@efgoldman: Walking is better, but I had a twinge in the back while doing that today. The good part is I’m starting to wean myself off of the narcotic and migrating to Aleve. And I’m in no hurry.

@danah gaz (fka gaz):
Debuted on IFC on Friday. It’s Scott Aukerman (former writer on Mr. Show, producer of Between Two Ferns), improv pseudo-talk show format comedy show adapted from his weekly Podcast. Reggie Watts is his house band, and does the theme on the podcast.
I haven’t seen the show yet, but the podcast is usually one of the funniest hours of my week. A recent gem.

@lamh35:
I also like that when werewolves shift back to human form, they don’t have magic pants that suddenly materialize out of nowhere. It was very important that they got that detail right, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to suspend disbelief.
danah gaz (fka gaz)
@freelancer: I’m not a big fan of comedy, although I like the occasional episode of Colbert (once in awhile). I’ve been spotted watching the occasional sketch too, but usually only if a particular piece is pointed out to me, and I like it.
Well, that’s not entirely true. I love dark comedies like Breaking Bad, Happiness, etc.
I accept that I am an odd bird. My sense of humor tends to run pretty black. If your post is in response to my Reggie Watts fetish, I consider him a stellar musician first, with the comedy being ancillary at best but a distant second to his raw energy and talent. =)
I’m not sure what IFC is, but I’ll let my spousal type person know about it. If she finds it compelling you can be sure she’ll bring it to my attention. That’s generally how I roll when it comes to teh teevee anyway =) My wife acts as a willing filter.
RadioOne
I’m still waiting to watch Season 4 of True Blood on Netflix, but I’m confidently predicting that last season Sookie and/or her brother somehow fucked everything up. They always do.
Joseph Nobles
@RadioOne: Sookie has already fucked everything up in the first episode of this season, which is why we love her. She is Constanza-like in her ability to do absolutely the wrong thing.
