At least one person in Florida has the good common sense to demand that George Zimmerman wallow though his shitty existence without having a bunch of guns to make his dick feel bigger:
At a bond hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors in Seminole County alleged that former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman had choked his girlfriend just days before she called 911 to say he was threatening her with a shotgun.
Zimmerman had been arrested on felony domestic violence and misdemeanor battery charges on Monday after Samantha Scheibe told authorities that he pointed a shotgun at her and pushed her out of the house.
The judge ordered on Tuesday that Zimmerman could be released on $9,000 bond. He was also barred from possessing guns or from coming within 1,500 feet of Scheibe. Zimmerman will have to wear a GPS tracking device until his next court date on Jan. 7.
At the hearing, the prosecution told the judge that the victim was “in fear for her safety.”
“The victim had indicated that there was a prior domestic violence incident that had occurred approximately a week and half ago that involved a choking that she did not report to the police,” the prosecutor said. “He has also has mentioned suicide in the recent past.”
At least two other women, a former wife and a former girlfriend, have also accused Zimmerman of domestic violence in the past. He was acquitted of murder earlier this year after he admitted to killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
I’d have thought the previous domestic violence issues would have kept him from owning a gun, but considering he killed a kid and got his guns back, what the hell do I know? I guess he’ll just have to rely on his giant vehicle penis SUV to serve as a manhood extension for a while.

Did anyone listen to his “counter 911 call” — the call he made to position himself in the media while the cops were banging on the door after his idiot girlfriend finally sicced them on him? It was all about him being the most considerate, innocent soul in the whole world but the bitch just went crazy! Nothing is ever his fault. Zimmerman will go down in a hail of SWAT bullets someday. I just hope he doesn’t kill anyone else on his way to hell.

With regard to the owning of guns for Zimmerman – no convictions, no confiscation. All of the his prior legal troubles up to Martin had not resulted in any type of conviction. As it should be. People are already prejudiced based on simple arrest records and conflating those with ‘being a criminal’. That’s an attitude that does a lot of harm to the young, POC male contingent when it comes to education and employment.

The most revolting thing about Zimmerman’s former cheering section is, it never mattered to them that he was a violent, scumbag, low life.
He had a history of domestic violence and resisting arrest, that weren’t a secret.
The overriding concern was being able to dance on the grave of a black teenager.
Roger Moore
I would assume that being acquitted or having the charges dropped would restore his right to own guns. The NRA has been highly successful in getting states to restore gun rights to ex-cons, so it’s hard to imagine that somebody who wasn’t even convicted would be in worse shape than somebody who had served hard time. It should say something about our society that we are more reluctant to restore ex-cons right to vote than their right to own firearms.
Ben Cisco

He hasn’t been convicted of anything that could cost him his firearm. You are innocent until proven guilty and then convicted (as much as people on both sides want to throw that out of the window when it suits them).
If anything society is far to quick to demand retribution and blood before things are sorted out. Guilty in the court of public opinion is not the same thing as guilty under the law.

@Amir Khalid: Having bonded, the next step for Zimmerman will be a trial process (including discovery and motion practice under that label). It’s quite probable that the prosecutor will offer a deal, in which case the case just disappears into the ether – Zimmerman gets whatever permanent record he agrees to, and whatever sentence is offered. I doubt he’ll get an amazing deal, but probably relatively minimal jail time.
@Amir Khalid: Not necessarily. Indigence is required to receive a public defender, and a lot of states require some sort of showing of indigency beyond a mere declaration. Given what we already know about Zimmerman’s wingnut welfare assets, I think a showing of indigency might be difficult.

Yeah, that’s EXACTLY how it played out in the Zimmerman trial. Zimmerman, who had an arrest record before he was put on trial, got off because his defense successfully criminalized a black teenager with no actual criminal history. No, it won’t bring Trayvon Martin back, but if Zimmerman at least tastes some of that “prejudice against the accused” he heaped on Martin, it will make for some consolation.

@ItAintEazy: You realize that none of Martin’s prior issues with trouble at school got in under evidence right? Neither did Zimmerman’s too that point. Zimmerman got off because any competent defense attorney would have gotten him off. He had conflicting eyewitnesses, photos of a beaten Zimmerman and medical expert witnesses to back it up. That case was the definition of reasonable doubt – especially for a Murder 2 charge.
I would say that his lawyer successfully ‘criminalized’ Martin – but it wasn’t hard. Zimmerman had clearly been attacked and bloodied and there was no one left alive to say that he hadn’t attacked first.
That being said, and despite reality bending denials on this site, Zimmerman is also a minority. I don’t feel the urge to hope that the inequalities of our system get ‘heaped’ upon him because you don’t feel that justice was served for a separate crime. It’s exactly this attitude that reinforces a culture in which all young, brown males are ‘criminals’. Because even if they didn’t do something ‘this’ time, they were probably guilty of something else.
But whatever, feeeeed your hatred.

That’s true, but they grandfathered in every single person’s healthcare plan when the law passed. Then they gave people who bought insurance after the law passed nearly four years to get a policy that met ACA standards. They did everything possibly to prevent a massive disruption to the insurance market and help people keep their insurance.
The media is using the relatively small group of people forced to meet the ACA standards as evidence of PO’s dishonesty. PO could rebut the charge fairly easily, but for whatever reason, he isn’t doing it.
