@Mustang Bobby: 47.5 here in LALAland, though it should get up into the low 80’s tomorrow and throughout the weekend. So it’s too cold at night to kill the pilot light on the furnace.
I’m going though some old pictures; 3 years in Seattle and I think I have a total of 3 pictures with Mt. Rainier in them.

I’d put outside temps in low 50’s, maybe high 40’s in Athens. Cold drizzly rain is back. It was like Spring! Wed afternoon. Downhill since.

It’s 12 F in NYC right now (0611). Too cold.
I can hear the maintenance staff clearing sidewalks in the development. They had cleaned snow yesterday but with snow falling into the night, they stopped cleaning at some point to leave it for this morning.
Animals have so much more intelligence than most people realize. I read “The Tiger” a few years ago and the stories of the people who met up with them was terrifying.
Here’s a truly wonderful editorial about Chris Christie’s now-ex flack. This is a level of invective rarely seen in the mainstream press any more, and I think we are the poorer for it.

@Paul in KY: I’m coming to Kentucky in three weeks for the Flying Pig orienteering event. It’s at Morehead State and Carter Caves. The organizers are saying that the long range forecast shows a warming period, but I’m wondering if I should pack snowshoes.

I once saw a wildlife show on the teevee where a cheetah decided to have some fun with the human tourists. She got on top of their truck, swung her butt over the sun roof, and took a dump on them.

Sigh, its been a beautiful week in north Florida in the 80’s where it belongs but new cold front coming in and its colder now than this morning…in the 50’s and going down. I wanted to garden this weekend. Pollen is already bad. dogwoods should be pretty this weekend.

Here in Oregon, frosty in the morning and sunny and 60s in the afternoon. We should be seeing gray, dreary skies and lots of rain. The woods will be a tinderbox this summer if this keeps up. They say every few hundred years we get a massive fire that scours the mountains clean of any vegetation. I’m getting worried.
49.
Paul in KY
@Origuy: The land around there is beautiful. You should have a great time. Hopefully most of the snow will have melted by then. Best of luck!

@NotMax: Oh, that explains so much. Someone yesterday told us that he went up to the top of Haleakala on Wednesday night to look at the moon and it snowed on him.

Almost every cat I’ve ever had and more than half the dogs figured out how to open the house doors within a few weeks.
The lions have obviously figured out that your car is a big can of cat food.

I always root for the critters in these situations. One day, this attitude will get my hand chewed off.
Just to follow up on NotMax’s non-sequitur, it was March 5 and 0 degrees in Chicagoland this morning. Record-nearing.

@John O: It’s about 73F here at 10:20pm in Ka’anapali, HI.
That lion’s face, looming up in the corner of the window just before she opens the door, that gave me goosebumps.

Under 55 degrees right now upcountry and temp still plummeting.

Impressed with that family. Not a single f-bomb, and not shrill when hysterical either.
Impressed with the lioness. She can wait. Some other human will leave a door unlocked. Although, it will be her life that pays.
