Chicago born and raised here. Of the two spankings I ever got from my dad (both more than deserved) the first one was over a Blackhawks game in about 1965, limited TV’s and channel options, and one seriously pissed off babysitter. She narc’d me out for being a total little kid dick, and my dad didn’t play that.
Anyway, I’ve never seen the city so jacked, not even in 1985 when the Bears were beating the crap out of everyone. In my estimation, overly so. TB is good and I expect another squeaker. In any case, it has been very fun, and will be GREAT fun should the Blackhawks win tonight.

Betty, I think you mistakenly posted the wrong graphic up top.
a Saturday report by the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung reveals the IMF vetoed a compromise that cut military spending proposed by the European Commission.
Proposal would have allowed Greece to defer 400 million euros in pension cuts, as long as it cut an equivalent amount from its military budget. The German newspaper reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Holland had signed off on Junckerâs compromise plan.
If the report is correct, ideology is playing just as much of a role as arithmetic in preventing a resolution. The IMF’s refusal to consider a plan that would lessen pension cuts is consistent with its historically neoliberal political philosophy.
Since this is open–shaper-uppers, my sinus infection has relapsed and I feel really sick so probably won’t have much shaping-up to report. In the unlikely event any of you wait for me to start the reporting in, please don’t wait this Sunday, go right ahead.

3 cups in 6 years is a ridiculous feat in the salary cap era. Hockey, now has to be the toughest sport to win multiple championships. The hard salary cap means after you win, important supporting players are highly sought after and can’t be kept around. And the one unique aspect of hockey, a single player (the goalie) can get hot, and carry a team that is not particularly good past a much superior team.
