Via intrepid party-planner & commentor Lakhe:
Summer Shack was reasonable and tasty, but loud.
Most of us had forgotten that it was moving day for many, many students, so our tiny, narrow roads were a little congested, and even with our reservation we had to wait. However, it was lots of fun! I vote for next time in the ‘burbs.
Given that it’s the evil Web, perhaps people should not be named unless voluntarily?
[Insert wallflower joke] Why do cats like to participate in making the bed? This lump is Gretel.

Thank FSM, a mini-break from the crazy.
Do I count 7 people? Looks like a fun time was had by all! Good looking group.
Omnes Omnibus
@satby: They scare me.
Cephalus Max
Well, it looks like it was fun and I want that t-shirt.
Gin & Tonic
@Omnes Omnibus: Imagine if they were wearing greasepaint, red noses and orange wigs.
Omnes Omnibus
@Gin & Tonic: Then they would terrify me and l would lash out in perceived self-defense. It is best that they are not.
Arclite
Here’s one for all you dog lovers out there.
lahke
Actually there were 8 of us, but I don’t do selfies. Or possibly I was under the covers with Gretel.
Folks who were there, please feel free to self-identity.

And the other type of people are those who expect surprises.

Love the t-shirt!

So far in my cat-stewardship, it’s only been our male cats who have a perverse joy in inserting themselves between sheets in the bed-making ritual. I guess Gretel blows my theory that this is gender-specific.

@Arclite: I do a lot of dog sitting now that my beloved ones have finished living the full measure of their lives, and I am not in a position to provide a proper home for a dog. The one dog type that I do not sit are pitties, even though I know they can be amongst the best of dogs. I’m just not comfortable with an unknown one of that breed. BUT! I do always greet and befriend them when they are under control of their caretakers. Kudos to this pittie rescuer who feels such a deep affinity with them, and for this special needs pup that he has adopted. Dogs are such good souls, and they all deserve loving homes, for all that they give to us in return.

@Arclite: Damn these onions. Love pitties, but they are just too big for me to handle as I get older. Great story.

That guy with the grey goatee is at every meet-up. How’s he do that? Who is he? Is he secretly watching us. I must speculate.

@RandomMonster: My first cat Puss (she had many other more creative names) used to love to do that with my Mom when she made the bed. For me though, she would hide under my bedcovers at night in a WI winter, and I would fluff the bedding to make static electricity sparks fly off of her. She lived to be 24, so I couldn’t have done too much harm there.

I’m the one in the green T-shirt who doesn’t trust firewalls.
It was a great time.
I took the T in that night because of Allston Christmas, but had to call HerrDoktor to fetch me because all the busses West outta Cambridge were 30-45 minutes behind. The “Where’s My Bus” app told me it couldn’t find any for the next two hours, neither from MIT nor Harvard. Hmph.

@RandomMonster:
Years ago a girlfriend and I had a female Russian blue that loved to participate in making the bed. We would give her a few beach blanket tosses with the top sheet, which drove her wild with excitement.
TaMara (HFG)
@AnneLaurie: Bed making time is party time here, the cats come running to “help”.
Mary G
Love to see jackals out in the wild and you are a fine bunch. Gretel is me.
WaterGirl
@TaMara (HFG): I swear, my beloved kitty Quiver thought bed making was crack. He would come running and never tired of his little game of help make the bed. I miss him so. Thanks for the reminding me of those sweet memories.
Tenar Arha
Sorry I missed this last night. It was fun night.

Thanks to Lakhe for setting this up. I enjoyed meeting everyone.
