Meanwhile the delegates will be in full MAGA hat regalia as they lick each other’s faces to “own the libs.”

The contingency plan is it’ll be held at his gravesite if he dies of covid19.

Yep. I can stay inside until then.

What’s the over/under on when we’ll start to see voting results from tonight’s Russthuglican cheeseshithead fuckery?

Titanic Captain Trump: “I’m being very unfairly treated. I’ve avoided hundred…thousands of icebergs and nobody thanks me. ‘Sir, you’re doing an unbelievable job.’ I hear from my crew but does anybody notice? I guess it’s okay.”
“I hear praise from my crew, my passengers, people who know how good I am. My uncle was an admiral, very smart man. Great sailor, sailed the biggest, most powerful ships. I understand ship things, believe me. Stable seafaring captain, that’s me, believe me.”

Anyone heard from Rand Paul??
West of the Rockies
Does anyone else still, 3+ years on, shake your head with utter dismay that this bloated, orange orangutan is our president, that he makes sooo many ludicrous errors, and that 43% of the country can’t get enough of his piss showers? And finally, that the media lets so much of it slide?
rikyrah
@West of the Rockies:
the second question is what’s truly infuriating???
Enhanced Voting Techniques
@rikyrah: News says he recovered from the Virus so I guess he will be going to the GoP convention.

@rikyrah:
I hope he’s suffering good and hard. I’d love to see him be at the brink of death… then maybe he might get a clue. I don’t want him to die, I want him humbled.

@rikyrah: Yep Rand Paul is a survivor.

Anyone heard from Rand Paul
Yes.
Amazingly, it seems that, since he’s had it and is immune, he’s volunteering as a healthcare worker.

I never would have expected this of him, but credit where credit’s due.

@rikyrah:
Sad news from Kentucky. Rand Paul was found alive in his home today.

@West of the Rockies:
You can thank media consolidation for that. once you get to the high echelon it’s all about numbers. They don’t give a shit about anything else. It’s all about numbers.
You can thank Bill Clinton for a lot of the media bullshit. He should have never signed the telecommunication act that allowed this consolidation. I really loved the Democrats back then because they were ushering in a lot of prosperity by de-regulating, but it has turned around and bit us in the ass. :(

@joel hanes: I’d hold off on the adulation until we know it is more than a photo op.

@West of the Rockies: I am gobsmacked every minute of every hour of every day. We’re watching the end of our country as a First World nation and we’re powerless to do anything about it.

@joel hanes:
Maybe he he finally figured out what is at stake and realizes this isn’t some bullshit that libertarianism is going to solve.
cain
@CaseyL:
We are never going to recover I suspect. The world will never trust us after this – not without us fixing a lot of shit that has happened. Then again, this right wing sweep has been going all over the world now. The generation previous are having a hard time with global markets and its effects on local culture and what not. I can understand that these changes are hard to grasp and that change is hard to adapt to. So of course nationalism and racism becomes more ascendant as people succumb to fear.
CaseyL
@cain: Well, the racists are in for a bit of a shock, as the next Great Power is likely to be China.
Hkedi [Kang T. Q.]
@CaseyL: Well they actually try to spend money to help the non-politically aware, so that is a big leg up on that.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@cain: Sure it was the Democrats fault since they controlled neither chamber of Congress.

@JaySinWA:
If “adulation” is the impression you received, then I’ve chosen my words poorly. Again.
Rand Paul is and always has been a flaming asshole, but he may be doing something worth respecting in this case, maybe for the first time in his life, in which case I will render such respect as I think he’s earned.
Grudgingly.
JaySinWA
@CaseyL: China is likely to be the last man standing superpower, but I am not sure they will be the next. Russia is burning political capital at a fierce pace to try and take that roll. The question is how quickly they flame out. All assuming the US doesn’t go totally insane and try and defang its rivals by force.

Mayor Rhodes-Conway reports hearing Madison turnout described as “low”. It worked. So one of the other things it means that this will be the model nationwide is that it all but guarantees maximum-strength epidemic in the fall.
Our side just doesn’t seem to be equipped conceptually or materially for the Holomodor-level crime that’s in progress here. The Party has positive motivation for mass death and the capability to cause a lot of it, while tens of millions living among us cheer them on.
JaySinWA
@joel hanes: If Rand Paul is actually doing what he claims, good on him. Pardon me if I am highly suspicious. This tweet and picture screams BS.

I have a theory on the PPE deal that Newsom mentioned on Maddow tonight.
China doesn’t use N95 masks. That’s a US standard. They use KN95 masks which are a slightly improved but different version of the N95, which you can imagine Chinese manufacturers make by the bucketload. They make relatively few N95s there.
Until a few days ago, it was illegal to import and use KN95s (hence the shortage). I’m guessing that Apple is the CA manufacturer and they applied their usual supply chain approach. In order to secure component supply, Apple will routinely approach a manufacturer and offer to buy their entire supply for x months. Apple will front cash as sort of a 0% interest loan which gets paid off by delivery of supply. The manufacturer gets a guaranteed sale, doesn’t need to share profits with distributors, and the manufacturer gets capital for expansion, which Apple gets first refusal on – so they can buy all of that new capacity as well.
I’m guessing this is exactly what happened – they got an agreement for 100% of production from a manufacturer of KN95s, lobbyied the WH to approve them, set up shipping, and will send them directly to who needs them as determined by CA governor or Dept of Public Health. I’m guessing Apple would use their normal China based order fulfillment capacity and ship directly to the hospitals, etc. never touching distributors or anyone to intercept them. Apple clears customs before they leave China to speed up the process and has massive contracts with the various global shippers – they’re the largest air freight customer in the world. Apple will put up the cash (which they have plenty of) and get some future tax credit to pay it off. It’s not like they’re making money off of US Treasuries anyway.
The key was to go big – buy it all, buy KN95 instead of N95 requiring WH approval, and cash up front. Apple usually carries about $30B in component prepayments at any time and it works very well. They do this on an unrivaled scale. They know there will be enough demand for the masks even if they overbuy, and the state will bypass the markets and sell to the other states at cost.

Speaking of Shit Media and the Bad Things they do.
You may or may not recall me having a little vent last week when I got shit-canned from The Guardian Live comment board for disgraceful sin of using the word “anti-Semitism” without prefacing it with the phrase “Jeremy Corbyn is the font and source of all…”
The comment they booted me for included this spooky prophesy.
Starmer won, and we didn’t have to wait long for the other shoe to fall. In a meeting with four of the most vicious pricks to contest the role of AIPAC’s mouthpiece in Britain, Starmer bent the knee and agreed the terms under which the Purge will take place.
Now, I’m old enough to remember when these arseholes presented a list of demands to Corbyn that included an ‘independent’ complaints process for anti-Semitism accusations that gave them a veto on its membership (only Friends of Bibi need apply) and included justifications for expulsion from the Labour Party that were lifted more or less wholesale from The Crucible. They fucked that up by simultaneously trying to label anyone who didn’t consider Corbyn to be History’s Greatest Monster as ‘not Real Jews’, and had to back off when the mainstream Jewish Community started tut-tutting their claims to speak for them. But they’ve got a version of it now, and I simply cannot wait to see how ruthlessly they start to expel
anyone to the Left of Alan Dershowitzthose pesky anti-Semites.I’m also old enough to remember when the Labour leader so much as asking for the case evidence behind these anti-Semitism allegations to be run across his desk was cast-iron proof of a sinister plot to bury the truth and hide the Labour Party’s transformation into the National Socialist British Workers Party. The BBC even based an entire
cynical hatchet-jobprime-time Panorama documentary on it. I’d ask the home of “quality, trustworthy, fact-checked journalism” why it’s suddenly evidence of decisive, fully-tumescent leadership now that Starmer is in the hotseat, but there’s only so much information to be gleaned from “your comment has been removed because it failed to meet our Community guidelines“.Thank Jeebus the Party elected the smart, sensible, not at all spineless candidate instead of that dirty little Corbynite (or whatever ‘lifted from the nearest Right Wing rag’ term of endearment the Kool Kidz are using these days). I feel sooooooo confident that this isn’t going to quickly descend into a Fapathon of Guardian-approved expulsions that will never – quite – cleanse the Party of the Sin that Keeps on Giving.
These fucking people.
Vent off.
