    Biden’s taking Trump’s attack on Hunter’s cocaine addiction and turning  it into a moment to connect with the millions of families who also deal with addiction was pretty good.

I listened to it and I didn’t listen to a lot of it but I didn’t watch it at all so I have no idea how they looked. I hope it’s the partisan in me but I wanted Joe to be way more aggressive and nastier. On the radio he came across too nice and almost passive.

    Donated (again). I was watching the ActBlue counter for a little while during the debate. The digit in the 100,000 place was incrementing approximately every 15 seconds.

    ETA — it’s still going up but a bit slower — it just took 35 seconds to increment to the next 100,000.

    @Baud: Trumpov brought up Hunter’s cocaine addiction as what helped him get removed from the military (after confusing Hunter with Beau), and Biden pivoted to the camera and spoke frankly about it: he was addicted, he’s overcome it, he’s continuing to move forward, and how proud he was of him. Again, thought a very good moment because of how it connects with the rest of America.

    @Baud:  Leto summed it up well, and what hit me was when he drew a comparison between Hunter’s addiction and the millions of people who have family members with addictions.

    I am sure he feels shame about Hunter’s addiction, but man, I wish he’d talk about it openly because yeah, it’s a way to connect with people in the Rust Belt.  Hell, my dad wasn’t a cocaine addict; he was just a boring old alcoholic, and even I felt the connection.

    @Baud: My niece who is blue but not generally very political texted and mentioned how much she liked joe’s response to that question attack on Hunter and also said that she liked the way Joe looked at the camera and talked to the people.

    Those were her two biggest comments, other than repeated texts about how disgusting and horrid Trump was.

    Donated to Biden via the BJ thermometer about half an hour ago.  Been watching the ActBlue ticker spin higher and higher. It’s kind of my new therapy.

    We already jumped through all of the hoops to obtain Canadian permanent residency documents…started the process the day that Kavanaugh got confirmed.  It’s been our escape hatch plan for some time.

    Writing my first postcards to voters tomorrow!

    What a shitshow this debate was!  Trump was like an abusive spouse – yelling, talking over the other, calling Biden stupid – it was horrific.  There is no doubt in my mind that Trump is a black-hearted  abuser who doesn’t care about any human life besides his own.  This is one sick, deviant degenerate man!

    It appears that you only see the counter on the ActBlue page (top right) if you are on a computer or on a tablet in landscape mode.

    On a tablet in portrait mode, or on a phone, the counter doesn’t seem to show up.  I wasn’t able to find it anywhere on mobile.

    I am an apple girl, but this was also verified by a jackal who uses android.

    I decided not to watch the debate; I can barely stand to see short clips of Trump on Colbert. I have been binging Secret Scotland with Susan Calman on YouTube. A very nice travel show with some beautiful scenery. I’ve been to Scotland twice and seen some of the things they show, but by no means all.

    I paused a few times to check BJ and Twitter. I don’t think I missed much.
