Currently included free only with Epix but due to a fortuitous glitch I was able to sample about half of the single season sans subscribing, Perpetual Grace, LTD.. Part Twin Peaks-y, part Fargo-y, part kaleidoscope. Curiously compelling. Never cottoned much to Ben Kingsley, however being able to rely on freely using the F word apparently has removed the haughty “Pay attention, I’m acting over here!” chip on the shoulder vibe I usually sense when watching him.

Pretty swell. I remember being about that age, and my grandmother next door had a Great Dane named Jerry who was pretty affectionate. I was all over that dog, who put up with me until he couldn’t any more, and stood up so that I couldn’t reach his nose or ears or eyes any more. I rode him like a pony when I was really little. He was a sweet boy.
ETA: So now as an old guy, Wife and I have 3 dogs, and the two younger dogs, who are atheletic 45-50 pounders will slither into our bed in the wee hours and snuggle between us. So sweet to have affectionate puppers.

My NextDoor experience resulted in a three day suspension barely 24 hours in. It was either asking the local Republican organizer if they were planning another insurrection at their Saturday breakfast meeting or telling a mask denier how exciting it was to get medical guidance from a random stranger on the internet and asking him what his credentials were and suggesting Youtube School of Medicine.
Or maybe it was a tie.

Woke up this morning after a pretty scary nightmare in which I was (inexplicably) on live TV having some kind of a back and forth confrontation with T**** (sort of like at a town hall thing) and then realized after the initial rush of having done a good job standing up for the truth against his gaslighting that my face and name were now known to all of his evil flying monkeys. @OzarkHillbilly: I’m getting pretty good at these suspensions. One of the things I would do toward the end on FB is find a comment on a public post that was way over the top, name-calling, insult, harassment, whatever, and report it as a violation of Facebook community standards. I’d wait a couple days and get the response back from FB telling me it didn’t violate their standards and I could block the person if I wanted to but otherwise nothing would be done. Sometimes they’d pepper their response with flowery speech like, “I know this can be frustrating..”
Then I’d go comment on a public post with that exact same comment I had reported and been told didn’t violate Facebook community standards and within one or two minutes, be suspended for violating Facebook community standards.

Oh, I’m well aware it’s scripted.
If I were a sociologist, I’d write a study of how corporations create this world in which the customer never gets to talk to anyone who has any real power to help them. So you are faced with just shutting up and going away, or screaming in helpless rage at someone you know is not to blame for your plight and can only repeat the words somebody has written for them, which only increases your rage, but you have no one to vent it on except the poor innocent employee, and on and on . . . I’m old enough to know it wasn’t always this way. Companies stood behind their products/services and would let you speak to someone who could help you.

WASHINGTON – Democratic senators said Thursday there was no need for the Senate to call witnesses at former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial, hinting at a possible early end to the trial as Trump’s team prepares to begin its opening arguments Friday.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., said the Senate had heard from enough people through “interviews and video presentation” played during three days of trial.
“I feel like we’ve heard from enough witnesses,” she said.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., said Trump could come and “give his explanation of the day,” but “otherwise, it feels like to me we’re done.”

The downside of calling prosecution witnesses is that the defense will get to call theirs. I think the Senate “jurors” already comprehend the core facts of what McCarthy and Pence would say. These and other witnesses might provide more clarity for the the public audience. But the defense will deploy a squid strategy, expelling as much rhetorical ink as possible to obscure and deflect, and will use procedural fights over who can be compelled to testify to suck up time and attention.

@jackmac: “Also, Democrats could have easily added a second impeachment charge over how Trump bumblefucked the national response and the ensuing deaths, illnesses and economic calamities.”
Agree. Plus the Georgia phone call–clear evidence of at least one major crime. I guess state and federal election law crimes.
I know it’s been said many times here but it does seem like this impeachment was done because it was the right thing to do; and for some kind of closure and historical record. One thing that’s bothered me is framing on mainstream networks (no cable) that the “Democrats need to get 17 more votes” etc. The Democrats don’t need anything. The evidence is clear, the other party members can make their choice. The Democrats will be on the right side of history
I kind of like the suspension idea to create a purgatory period, while a 1/6 commission digs into more fact-finding.
