Morning, y’all. Cold and frosty here in north Atlanta, so I think I’ll just be lazy until the sun emerges and melts the rime on my car windows.

The snow’s gone here in Joisey and the real world is sneaking back in. Football this afternoon, and then the end of couch and cookies.
Cool and cloudy here. Tired as hell — methinks SamKitten is cutting a tooth, and he was up at 2:30 last night, which is unheard-of for him. And of course, I had only gone to bed at 12:30, because he normally gets up at 7, allowing me a good 6 hours or so of uninterrupted sleep.

BTW, I think that this last Sunday of the year is traditionally the day that CBS Sunday Morning always does their annual roundup of people who have died during 2009. Not just the celebrities that everyone knows about (although them too), but lots and lots of people you never heard of who made a difference. Always worth watching IMO.

Cool and wet this morning on the south Oregon coast, currently about 50 degrees out. IOW, the usual…
My personal odometer hits the half-century mark at 7:32 am, hopefully I make it. ;)
Plans for the day include cranking up the guitar and amp for some fun later today, powdercoat the few remaining items for the car, work with the son on his PC (new game installations) and clean up the garage before starting to bolt everything back onto the car. The wife is up to something but I guess I have to wait to find out.
That’s ok with me though, I learned long ago that she is worth waiting for. ;)

Excellent analysis by Benen (with some assist by Ambinder, surprisingly) about the Obama strategy when confronting terror.
Cold and gonna snow here in the ‘Burgh. Getting ready to go to my sister’s for the family Christmas/Stillers celebration. My car is having some sort of electrical problem and I am pissed. Oh well. Anyway, Mr. Cole, I have a passionate defense of the great Franco Harris in the last thread that is in moderation. You, sir, are not well informed about the general of the Italian Army and should be ashamed of yourself as a self-described Stillers fan. Calling Franco names like that. Pshaw. It’s a nice and cool 42 degrees outside here in LA. Inside, with one machine running, it’s a balmy 62. Good times.
You know, the funniest thing occurred to me while I was working. With the appearance of the pantsbomber originating from Yemen, doesn’t this shoot the whole Afghanistan buildup in the ass? With AQ coming from multiple places (including Africa where I remember one US raid earlier this year, but can’t remember where) what’s the point of the Afghan surge again?

I’ve been watching my recording of the HBO Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show of a few weeks back and the first 3 hours just blow my damn mind. I could watch it every day, I suspect. Here is a rockin’ MJ tribute by Stevie and John Legend. Stevie has quite an emo moment midway through but really pulls it together.
but but his father went to the American Embassy in Yemen and told them he was disturbed a whole 2 weeks ago! so that makes him a well know terror suspect. Oh and the Birts refused to let him back because he lied about the school he was going to study at–see also another clue he was a known terror suspect!
I know. The funniest thing to me is that Obama mentioned Yemen in his Afghanistan or Copenhagen speech. It’s so nice that he gets to decide what is important and how to behave, not Al Queda!

One of the contradictions of the Republicans and neocons is that they think of themselves as hard asses on terror issues.
