Mr. Braslow has a long thread of video tweets, some with pushback from neighbor adults, and:
A student asks one of the protesters if he is a doctor and tries to give him a mask. He asks, “Where’s your data? On Google?”, and then walks away. pic.twitter.com/WFt4lf5839

The kids are all right. Those grownups, not so much.

I claim those kids as my people. Santa Monica for the win.

Gee, it’s the People’s Republic of Santa Monica, what did they expect?

Reminds me of when Dan Ackroyd played the high school principal at a dance. “Do you know what blue and green hair leads to? Drinking beer!”

Middle School kids smarter and quicker than the anti-vaxers. Love it.

“They gave us middle fingers” is pretty much the response that should be given to any right-wing ballbag at this point. Just fuck off already.
Elsewhere, this clip is a not new but this little girl is always fierce!

This person actually admits to accosting 13 year olds at their school as if that in itself isn’t self-indictment.

Ah, the classic anti-science “I think those pointy-headed scientists and doctors don’t know what they’re talking about, but anyone who disagrees with me must be brainwashed!”
The wingnut I monitor on Twitter is constantly retweeting things about “lockdown lovers” and “mask fanatics.” They’re freedom-loving, we only support these things because we love restricting and controlling people, not because we believe it’s necessary and it works. Yesterday he approvingly forwarded someone who is still, still! spouting “their lockdowns have done far more harm than the virus.”
They’re not just doing these things to “own the libs,” they really do believe. Sigh.
HumboldtBlue
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
Ba-dum-tssh!
HumboldtBlue
@Redshift:
Wait until your feed catches up to the latest Atlantic article about how it’s the libs who love lockdown and who are ignoring science who are the problem. The author uses four references of impacts in articles from 2020. Now she’s patting herself on the back for her bullshit.

The shock when some of these people come out of their Fox News/early bird special coffee shops/megachurches bubbles is very entertaining. There is no such thing as too much schadenfreude.
The dude who’s creeped out at blue or green hair cannot be from LA; kids have been doing that here for decades. I knew a girl who used KoolAid in the 70s. And chosing The People’s Republic of Santa Monica of all places, probably because the Miller creep is from there and they think somebody must have supported him or been convinced by his entirely true and sensible fascist/racist points.
Congrats to L.A., San Francisco and Trinity counties for squeaking into the yellow tier today. I’m jealous. OC’s numbers improved slightly, to 2.4 new cases per 100,000 residents, 1.3% test positivity, 72 new cases, and 97 people hospitalized.
We looked for a restaurant Saturday and they were either closed or packed cheek to jowl outside, so I worry. Disneyland is open at 25% with insanely high ticket prices and a waiting list out the wazoo, so there’ll be pressure to look the other way there. The ads are everywhere.

This crap reminds me of all the Operation Rescue bullshit in the late 80s through the 90s, harassing the clientele of women’s clinics. One thing about these assholes, they all love to punch down, don’t they?

@HumboldtBlue: Twitter is fighting back, including me. The ratio needs to be higher, so I may go back and tweet some more at her. Contrarianism is one hell of a drug.

Is it possible growing up with the internet makes one aware of bullshit? 12-13 was when my nephews started calling me on my shaggy dog stories like how my father and his father would dump the bodies of the dinosaurs they hunted in the La Bera Tar Pits.

Yeah she’s getting blowback. As someone pointed out on one thread, “this was an editor’s clickbait choice”.
I saw your responses as well.

That’s the problem with bullshit, sooner or later the bullshitter believes in his lies. Go on you tube and search for “Bullshitido”, it will be videos of fake martial artists so caught up in their own lies they end up getting the shit beat out of them in real fights.

Yup, I agree. I was seeing red when one of those assholes sarcastically said, “Thanks for the useless advice”, when a parent told them they shouldn’t be talking to other people’s kids and then when told they were being creepy, somebody else immediately went No U on the parent, accusing him of being creepy and brainwashed. It was like talking to a brick wall

These youth are the generation of active school shootings lockdowns and have spent a significant percentage of their lives with a pandemic. Good on them for having no patience for the anti vaccine shitheads.

@Mary G: Back in the glorious days of a misspent youth, the punks I knew not only used Kool-Aid to color their hair, but also had 12-inch or higher Mohawks (created using various concoctions).

@West of the Rockies: When he was jr high age, my son had strangers hand him “Bibles”, which were really just the pocket-sized New Testament. Or try to hand him one of these little books. My son told one old guy “No thanks, we have Bibles and I attend that church right there,” as he pointed to the First UMC, right across the street. The guy blew up and started screaming at him. It shook him up a little but a teacher got interested and got between them so he could walk home and not be followed.
I do not understand these people, I do not understand how they think they can just walk up to kids and do stuff like this.

@Mary G: I was in a restaurant the other day to pick up takeout. It was beyond packed inside and out.
Nearly gave me hives being in there. I am not normally a person that reacts that way. But I just wanted to get out of there. It’s crazy.
I only have one shot in me so I’m not fully vaccinated up yet, but the way I felt, I wonder if it’ll be anytime soon before I am comfortable eating out again inside. I do alright with outside and empty spots between tables, but I didn’t even like looking at the packed outdoor/indoor eating as if it was pre-pandemic.
I live in the Bay Area on the peninsula so I assume a decent vaccination rate, but still heeby jeebies.

National Enquirer front page headlines this morning*.
EXPOSED! Juvie Madrassa for masked malcontents? In the heart of Santa Monica!
REVEALED! The brainwashing techniques that turn American kids into Antifa thugs!
TRUE STORY! “How can eyes so young be so cold? Who did this to our children?” Horrified mother tells of her escape from middle-school Mob!
EXPLAINED! Terrorism expert debunks Harris/Biden ‘election win’ and names names behind The Coup!
HARD QUESTIONS! Vaccine or VacSIN? What The Bible says and where Jesus stands on the issue.
* Probably. Maybe. In theory. Could be.

I would encourage all to go to Twitter and read the entire tread. This is a great example of reporting, with pictures, details, quotes, demonstrating once again what a failure our failed national traditional journalism media has become. I often say that if we could harvest the energy of Thomas Jefferson spinning in his grave at the failure of our Fourth Estate, we could probably power half the country.

Apparently whoever wrote that email about the blue and green hair and the middle fingers hasn’t been around middle school kids in a long, long time.
As a parent of a kid who’s just finishing up middle school, this all sounds perfectly normal to me. Blue or green hair? Sure, seen plenty of that. Middle fingers to idiotic adults who aren’t their parents or teachers, who are feeding them some line of bullshit? That’s exactly what I’d expect.
They’re getting what they deserve for trying to pick on freakin’ kids. Buncha creepos.

Honestly, that quoted message is troubling.
In one paragraph this person reframes these kids from child “victims” to indoctrinated enemy “zombies”. You can justify a lot with that sort of dehumanizing language.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: I lived in Anaheim for 8 years, two blocks from Carl Karcher’s house.

I was a 13 y o kid so long ago that we weren’t allowed to give anyone the finger, and in HS my cousin, who was a 4.00 gpa senior student, was expelled for allowing his hair to grow long, as in down to his collar and over his ears.
My uncle showed up the next morning with his kid and a lawyer. Which ended that bull shit right then and there. Uncle J was nearly a Marxist, not in favor of long hair, but big on personal freedom. I was never a 4.0 student… Dean’s List pretty much, but never 4.0. Back then you couldn’t get above a 4.0.
I wish I had the self-assurance to give asshole adults the finger when I was 13, back in 1964 — but it was a very different world back then. Before the Civil Rights act, for example. Which took 20 year to take any effect in many places. Was so not in effect in 1972 Mississippi~!!!~
