Randy Rainbow’s latest, and it’s a doozy!
Let's rock 'n' roll, Mr. Garland! đźđ»ââïžđ¶ #LockHimUpYesterday #NewVideo pic.twitter.com/itdTtTnk3O

I especially enjoyed the Josh Hawley cameo.

I was just coming here to post this. Itâs brilliant. Itâs the first time Iâve laughed at the Judy Garland joke thanks to the timing
Jackie
That was great!
(Not so much, the ear worm)
Chief Oshkosh
“Judy” timing perfect. And yes, the Hawleying Ass cameo added the je ne sais quoi. Thanks for the laugh.
Betty Cracker
@Leto: @Yastreblyansky on Twitter anticipated Trump’s reaction: “He only ran my business for a very short period of half a century.”
Dangerman
@Leto: Damn, TFG has been having a shitter of a month (and Pence showing up at the 1/6 hearings would cause popcorn shortages)

I’m not actually a violent person, and I’m a good 1000 miles from where they likely spend their time, but I find both Josh Hawley and Jared Kushner’s personal, sartorial and demeanorly (to make up a word) presentation makes them eminently punchable.
I think those guys know it, too. So they’ve lampreyed onto the GOP as the daddy party that will protect them. A la Lindsey G, too, though I suspect his sense of protection stems from a different cause than being an aloof, arrogant, but ultimately unclever prick.
Anyway. Good for Randy. I don’t usually really go for his humor, but this bit worked great.
Frank Wilhoit
@Betty Cracker: FTS. He worked for Fred, didn’t he?
Alison Rose đđ»đ
Love it. He’s a freaking genius. His book is pretty entertaining too, if any of y’all are interested!
Baud
Another upvote for “Judy.” I’m actually not a huge RR fan, but that was good.
Betty Cracker
@Frank Wilhoit: That’s not really what Trump said; it’s a Twitter wag’s snarky guess. Sorry if that was unclear.
Leto
@Dangerman: They really are closing in on the shitgibbon from all sides. Good. I hope all his “works” are burnt to the ground and he’s left with salt, tears, and no more orange dye. And even that’s too good for him. Fucker.
RaflW
@Betty Cracker: Yastreblyansky did an excellent job on Liz C yesterday, too.
Interesting note that maybe part of the press crushing on Liz is that she, unlike most Trumpist/MAGAs (aka the entire current Party, basically) is still a hard power interventionist.
Much of our press still loves a good (aka usually bad) American war. They love them some Kristol, McCain, Cheney bomb-bomb-bomb Iran.

@Leto
Curious how the reality of hearing one’s name used in the same sentence with “Riker’s Island” focuses the mind and jogs the memory, innit?
SiubhanDuinne
@Leto:
Nicely done, WaPo.
Leto
This segment from last night’s Lawrence O’Donnell show “details why Trump âcannot be confidentâ that Giuliani did not give that grand jury some evidence that âmoved them closer to the biggest possible target of their investigation, Donald Trump.â” He also goes over the email that Fanni Willis, DA Fulton County, sent to Gov Kemp’s attorney wrt him testifying before the grand jury, and it’s a masterpiece. The time for fucking around is over. The time for finding out is now. /chef’skiss

Ken
Truly the Mark Russell of our time, and close to Tom Lehrer.
lowtechcyclist
@RaflW:
Unfortunately for them, the GQP hasn’t been the ‘daddy party’ in any meaningful sense for a good fifteen years or so now. These days, they’re more the “drunken uncle who spouts off all sorts of crazy conspiracy shit in lieu of normal conversation” party.
Ken
@Steeplejack: For some reason both Hawley and Kushner remind me of Pee Wee Herman — the character, not Paul Reubens. For that matter there’s some similarity to Randy Rainbow.
On reflection, I think it’s the body type, which is similar to John Cleese’s, and for some reason makes me think their shirtsleeves and pants legs are three inches too short, no matter what my eyes are telling me.
Matt McIrvin
@Ken: Mark Russell always struck me as a both-sidesy puller of punches. Unlike Lehrer.

@HumboldtBlue: Â But why does he call Garland “Judy?”
I didn’t get that one, either.

Hawley and Carlson, posers as defenders of ‘masculinity’ provide as good an impetus to throwing dirt on that concept as the actual critiques do. Â In the immortal words of Fred Blassie, “pencil necked geeks…”

Steeplejack
@Ken, @p.a.:

Randy is entertaining, but⊠eye on the ball, folks. Anyone who has been through the drill of handling highly classified information understands that Trump is guilty as hell. Heâs a criminal, period.

RR is the little gurl with a curl when it comes to the videos. This one is great. Gotta be top three, along with (1) the Wizard of Oz Jitterbug knockoff re Trump hiding in the basement and (2) whatever really good one I’m forgetting or didn’t get because I only know a few of the more famous American show tunes.

@Elizabelle:
When Obama nominated him to the SC, there was much hilarity about the fact that if you squinted a little, the words âJudge Garlandâ looked a lot like âJudy Garland.â Mildly cute observation the first time; tedious and unfunny the twentieth.
But Randyâs timing here is impeccable.

As a regular viewer of Reliable Sources, I always thought Brian Stelter tried to be as neutral and objective as possible and Chris Licht can go fuck himself.

SiubhanDuinne
@hilts:
That strikes me as a very short-sighted decision on Lichtâs part, to say the least.
I havenât watched âReliable Sourcesâ in a long time, but it feels to me as though both the program and the host have been around for years. What a surprise to learn that Stelter is only 36 years old!
Elizabelle
Worth the click. Â WaPost magazine profile of Randy Rainbow (and that is the name he was born with, amazingly) from May 2019. Â His mom and especially his grandmother always believed in him; his father was a Trumplike figure (the narcissism). And Stephen Sondheim did indeed say nice things about him. Â As did Andrew Llloyd Weber and many other creatives.

Oh, God, I had a friend in Atlanta who loved the Capitol Steps and tried to drag them into any political discussion whether or not they were relevant. (They almot never were.) I get the heebie-jeebies just seeing the name.

@Baud:
At this point I’ll drop in the funniest thing I read on Twitter last week. Didn’t tag and band it, unfortunately.
Some guy wrote that he dreamed he was talking to himself from 30 years ago. “I hold in my hand a device with access to all of the accumulated knowledge of humanity, and I use it to yell at people and look at cat videos.”
hilts
@SiubhanDuinne:
As the NPR article notes, Stelter has been on this beat a long time. I used to read the media blog he ran when he was a college student.
Mr. Bemused Senior
@Steeplejack: give them (Capitol Steps) a break! It’s hard enough to be funny once, never mind year after year. I remember them from 1991, that was a very good year.
Mr. Bemused Senior
@Steeplejack:Â and read BJ

@hilts:  I read somewhere that Licht wants to feature more conservative voices. Not that I watched CNN much before, but that admission ended all tv and online viewing for me.

@hilts: I agree. Am disappointed but not surprised by this move by Licht. Watch out for Acosta to lose his place next. Licht is placating the right with these moves . Acosta has been a breath of fresh air during the Trump years going back to his coverage of tfg’s campaign events.â

Jerzy Russian
@Omnes Omnibus:Â Â In this case the tune was “Yesterday” by the Beatles.
Steeplejack

zhena gogolia
@Elizabelle: A lot of people have been calling Merrick Garland “Judy Garland,” but just kind of stupidly with no wit, and I’ve never found it very funny. But since RR has the tradition of “Donald Jessica Trump” and he has perfect timing, this time it made me lol.

RR’s Jesus Christ Superstar parody stands out because it’s a whole mini musical where he blends songs from Pontius Pilate, Mary Magdalene and Judas + the chorus – along with the fake news interviewâ
SiubhanDuinne

Yup. An important distinction.
zhena gogolia
