Things are progressing nicely with the lads. They have been able to share the same space with little to no drama, and the space in which they are able to tolerate each other is shrinking every day. I don’t know if they will ever be best buds (I have no reason to think they will not be), but as far as being able to share the same roof, I think that is going to be no problem.
As I noted, the gate has been down in the office for several days now, and despite being the village idiot, Thurston is at least smart enough to not get murdered by the roaming black jaguar. The only incident of note is when they accidentally ran into each other (one running upstairs, one running downstairs), and they had some words before both fucked off in a different direction.
Everything is going to be fine, I think.

If you always keep to the right while running up or down stairs collisions won’t happen, assuming you are not as wide as the stairs. In cases where there is not room for two, I think the one going uphill has the right of way.

I’m looking forward to the eventual “two cats snoozing in one bed together” pic.

I think we are all looking forward to more pics, even if they are not pics of two cats snuggling as if they’ve known each other all their lives.
I know I’m looking forward to pictures of green eyes looking out of darkness…

Actually, this is pretty amazing after so short a period. VERY encouraging. I suspect we will soon be treated to cozy, mash up pics of the boyos sharing a bed.

One of the YouTube vlogs I follow is Kevin Richardson, “The Lion Whisperer,” who runs a large sanctuary in South Africa for lions, jaguars, and hyenas – all of whom, for various reasons, cannot be released into the wild.
Among his felines are a pair of black jaguars, and one of the things I notice about them is, they are, IMO, the most “house cat-like” of the big cats. Their facial expressions, body language, reactions to things, how they interact with each other and with Kevin, all seem very recognizable to me. (Just, y’know, ten times bigger and capable of killing you if they want to.)
So I’m tickled that you now have your own House Jaguar, and very happy to see the progress of his settling in. I’d like very much for Maxwell and Steve to become good friends, though FSM knows what plots and schemes they could come up with together.

My kitties def do not cuddle, but the only time they hiss at each other is if they’re hungry.
I adopted a dog last November, and one kitty loves her and the other tolerates her, so all is good.

Is everyone getting ready for the time change? It’s so quiet.

It’s been a long ass day and running into this ongoing saga just makes me happy. Thanks. :)

This is nice news, John. Reading about your two kitties is nice way to end my evening.

Both are such handsome kitty boys!

After two years, Dobby our Demon Cat is a friendly little guy who snuggles with the pitbull and hopes the other cats will like him someday. Mouf (a smaller version of Cole’s Steve) likes him but does turf battles. Meg puts up with him. Shadow is mostly unpleasant to him, but that is how she is to everyone who isn’t a dog. She really likes dogs. I don’t know where that came from.

@rikyrah: I would hope these people get a life, but apparently this noxious behavior is their life. Sad.

I hate my pitbull’s tail. It is so intrusive. She can’t be secret about anything. She always has to wag wag wag. What do you think I think? Just ask my tail.

My cat Shadow is always stressed. I wish I could fix that for her.

@Alison Rose: Ditto!

We have 4 adult cats and they generally get along, but are not buddies. Fortunately we have enough space and have lots of cat trees and even an elevated catwalk so they have spaces where they each feel safe. Another good idea I have heard is to make sure the “staff” puts out one more litter box than the number of cats in the house.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, all this nicey-nicey is nice, Cole, but which one got that last piece of Kibble?
;)
Congrats on the cats.

@sab: Shadow sneaking up on her cat brother to start a fight, but dog goes wag, wag, wag, so she changed her mind
