Fire That Hippie Larry Summers, Says John Boehner in Speech
__
How to kill time arguing about politics while waiting for the next round of primary elections to happen? House minority leader John Boehner obliged by Positioning Himself as a National Leader with a speech that was conveniently pre-distributed, pre-attacked, and pre-counterattacked before he went to the trouble of pushing the words out of his mouth at some ungodly early hour this morning in Cleveland, a city inhabited by none of the 163,000 people who chose John Boehner to vote for legislation on their behalf…

Scocca covers stuff (like “[Chinese] legislators are also planning to increase the criminal penalties for enslaving laborers—raising the maximum sentence from 3 years to 7—and to tighten the laws against unauthorized harvesting of organs for transplant.”) that I’m not seeing on the Usual Blog-Sources. The snarkistry helps.

I heard a news report about this on the way home in which Boehner was presented as being even more insulting than in Scocca’s story. Supposedly, Boehner said it was time for Obama to discard his amateurish community organizer approach, fire his entire economic team and follow the sage wisdom of the mature Republican leadership in … wait for it … making Bush’s tax cuts permanent.
The GOP is begging for an ass kicking, and the Democrats really need to get their stuff together and deliver it.
Fer example, show a clip of a news reporter noting that the Republicans don’t have a plan and note, “The GOP should stop waving blank pieces of paper around and bring some real ideas to the table.”
Or “The Bush tax cuts wrecked the economy. The Republicans apparently want to make the damage permanent and irreparable.”

Why oh why does anyone vote for an obnoxious idiotic asshole like Boehner? I mean, at least McConnell has the grandpa thing going for him. Boehner is just a dick. A huge, orange dick at that. And Cleveland? Really? C’mon, folks, you can do better – what do you want your politicians to suck as bad as your football team?
Linda Featheringill
What was Boehner doing in Cleveland anyway? This is not his district.
Besides, I didn’t know he was here. Although I suppose that he has a right to travel as long as doesn’t try to build a mosque.

I can’t edit.
Any, wapo says Boehner was at the City Club. The City Club has speakers of all stripes and flavors come in and make what will hopefully be interesting speeches.
And in spite of what wapo reported, you don’t have to be a “business leader” in order to attend a City Club event.

Grampa Walnuts has won the GOP Senate primary in AZ. This is good news for John McCain . . . wait, what? Oh, I see, it really *is* good news for John McCain. Plus also, too, a Sarah Palin endorsement is teh awesome.

Stopped clocks, etc. Geithner and Summers have done a great job serving their former (current?) Wall Street colleagues, nothing more. The case for keeping them is far from compelling.

@arguingwithsignposts #2: “huge orange dick.”.Heh.

@arguingwithsignposts: Cleveland Brown colors: orange and brown. Cincinnati Bengals colors: orange and black. I believe I understand Boehner a little better now – he’s just a booster.

@arguingwithsignposts:
This is either hyperbolic or you have direct photographic evidence of this fact. I’m sincerely hoping for the former, the latter would be enough for me to go celibate.

How old is Jan Brewer? I must have seen touched up photos of her before, cause she looks craggy.

What’s weird is that I was going to make a joke the other day on that post where the teabaggers misspelled “ground” that at least they didn’t spell it “mosk.”

@Mark S.: All of those fucking beheadings really get to her! No wonder she’s aged!
Yutsano
@Mark S.: 65 officially. She skeers me though.

@Mark S.: Man, all in all, that is a rather oddly framed picture. Is she about to charge the photographer? She does look like someone who has spent a few too many years in smoke filled rooms.

Has anyone else noticed that when CNN uses the word “gubernatorial,” it looks dirty?

For some mysterious reason, Huffpo had a blazing, huge, headline shrieking “BEYOND LEFT AND RIGHT” on Orange Glow calling for the heads of Obama’s economic team. I guess it’s because progressives don’t like Geitner, but it’s just journalistic malpractice to suggest a Republican attacking Obama’s economic policies, (and of course, calling for a continuation of the Bush tax cuts) is beyond left and right.

@Mark S.: I don’t know if she’s an Arizona native, but that climate is hell on the complexion.
I went out there a few years ago for my baby brother’s wedding, and I could feel my lips chapping as I drove down the highway. It’s no wonder he looks 10 years older than I do.
When I got back to Nashville, it was all muggy, even though it was only May. I wanted to kiss the water molecules hanging in the air.

Boehner’s “government by community organizer” comment cracked me up. And with teleprompters! He couldn’t have been a bigger hypocrite if he’d tried.
I wonder if Boehner’s attempt to position the party as pro-Main Street over Wall Street makes the financial types nervous, or if it’s just assumed that Republicans are flat-out liars.
