From commentor Nikolita:
I’ve enclosed a few pictures of my cats, Cat (black and white) and Tac (white and grey). Cat (female) is 8 years old, and Tac (male) is almost 3.

Cat is quite the prissy diva. She’s the first cat I’ve ever owned, so she’s my baby and I love her to bits, but she’s got her head stuck way too far up her own ass sometimes. Tac is forever chasing her and trying to play with her, and she just wants nothing to do with him. Once in awhile you can catch them together, like up on the dryer or on the couch at the same time, but those times are few and far in between.

Tac reminds me of my dearly missed Dewhickey. I lost him August 31st of this year to an aggressive form of diabetes. It took a week…… I still cry myself to sleep over the loss. I found him in a dumpster 15 years ago.

Handsome kitties! My cat Max, who just left us last week, was standoffish like that with our little one, Milo. Milo would run over to him, rub up against him, and Max would just stick his nose in the air and walk away. Of course, he took advantage of Milo’s adoration by eating his food all the time – Milo would just step away from his bowl and let Max at it.

Very pretty kitties. So elegant and such a lovely addition to your household.

Cats must project calm and confidence as solitary hunters. Some get a double helping of confidence; and have trouble letting their guard down.
My James Bond is like that; though deep down, he does have a heart of gold.

Sounds like Cat is alpha in the relationship. I wouldn’t call that stuck up per se, it’s just the nature of the relationship between the two cats.

Nikolita What beautiful cats.
@Lesley: I thought all cats were alpha. Alice has been camping out here for six months and it took only a few days for the cat to teach my dog who was boss. Recently I was pup sitting for a few weeks and my dog did protect the pup from the cat though.

I love them.
When we go to the pet place to buy the food for the hound, I always linger by the cats for adoption. Seeing sad pictures of puppies and dogs for adoption doesn’t really tug at my heart strings. But I want to give every stray cat a warm bed and a bowl of milk and cat toys on strings …

@Lesley: Cats have hierarchies of what they want.
They don’t choose a boss among themselves; some just want things very much, and some are shruggers.

This post is from a photography blog, but I think it’s relevant to the discussions of the left and Obama.

Wow, those are gorgeous kitties.
And that behavior is just perfectly normal cat behavior, as far as I can tell. I’ve had a whole lot of cats (I used to rescue leukemia cats — great limited commitment starter cats, by the way), and I am convinced that half of their tiny little brains is devoted to spite.

Cat and Tac are gorgeous cats! Cat does look like she has attitude.
@joeyess: Dewey is so handsome. Sorry for your loss.
@WereBear: James Bond is as dashing as his namesake.
@arguingwithsignposts: Good to see you, aws. Lady Smudge is doing so well!

Very cute! So is Tac just Cat spelled backwards? Or is there some other origin for the name?
