Ladies and Gentlemen, Sarah Palin’s ethics advisor:
The Alaska Supreme Court has suspended the law license of former U.S. Attorney Wevley Shea, finding “clear and convincing evidence” that he violated professional rules of conduct.
The high court on Wednesday adopted the recommendations of a disciplinary board, which called for Shea’s Alaska license to be suspended for 25 months. The board also said Shea must demonstrate that he is “mentally fit” to return to practicing law before applying for reinstatement of his license.
Beyond spoof, this woman.

Yep and in sarahs world nothing to see, please move along. Then it’s the liberal media fault this happened.
Then it’s, well you get what next line every one but me is at fault the normal repug or demodog line.
Tickraw
And somehow Sully will argue that this makes Palin the clear front runner for the GOP nomination.
Maude
Shea could run for president. He’d fit right into the Repub crowd.
mr. whipple
God, I wish she’d run.
Nah, but this is clear and convincing evidence that Trig(or Track or whoever the fuck) isn’t Palin’s kid.
El Cid
You forget that it’s time to hate Chris Matthews for saying that Palin was “profoundly stupid”.
Frankensteinbeck (The ex-Uloborus)
@Tickraw:
I wouldn’t be surprised if it DID make her the clear front runner. Victimization politics is her strong suite.
Cat Lady
I’d love to know how he’s going to prove his mental fitness. If he were smart, he’d state that he now understands that Sarah Palin is an ignorant vindictive user and he let his little head do all the thinking. And starbursts! Also.
scav
But with the way he sees and the way she acts, it’s a perfect match!
Tradition!
The Dangerman
I’m not sure putting “Ethics Advisor To Sarah Palin” should go on his resume.
Wag
Birds of a feather, and all that jazz.
ruemara
People advise Sarah Palin on ethics?
That’s like advising amoebas on spinal injuries.
Reality Check
*yawn*
Pawlenty will be our nominee, not Palin.

Much better than usual, so far! You can hardly tell he’s on vacation!
Warren Terra
@fasteddie9318:
That story is pretty incredible. Not the original story – that’s a sad but basically uninteresting story of a guy whose cruddy job offers him neither the time nor the facilities for pit stops – but the response of Schlussel and her fellow Islamophobes, who’ve seen the situation so much more clearly than I ever could.
Oh, and since you didn’t include one: a link to the story (to the S,N! shorter of the story, not to the Schlussel, so my link doesn’t take you Out Of The Boat)
fasteddie9318
@Warren Terra: Thanks for that. Posting from the phone makes linking take more effort than I sometimes care to put in.

Ouch, that’s harsh, Cornel! Looks like the base is fed up!
Violet
Doesn’t something like this actually improve Sarah’s chances to win the nomination? She can express her disappointment, distance herself and Facebook some word salad about “people should be held to the highest standard” and “rule of law.” She walks away looking like a winner. Villagers get to say she “passed a test” and “holds her staff to high standards” or some pablum, and suddenly her name’s back in the media. Win.
cbear
Wevley huh?

We’re not “destroying” Medicare, we’remaking sure that it’s there for the next generation. It’s going to go bankrupt on its current course.
Ryan’s plan may not be perfect, but he had the courage to offer a solution to the problem. What’s ‘Bam’s solution?

What base are you talking about????
Warren Terra
Losing the affections of Cornel West is hardly a badge of shame. Having once had those affections is a bit embarrassing, but you’re not responsible for every person who claims to like you (heck, Ann Althouse claims she voted for Obama). In this regard (and others, albeit with differing political orientation and prejudices), West is like Andrew Sullivan – only without quite as much reticence, humility, or sound judgment.
Frankensteinbeck (The ex-Uloborus)
@Reality Check:
It’s called the Affordable Care Act. It’s already passed and signed into law and provisions come into affect in a graduated fashion over the next 3 years. The mandate seems to get the most attention, but in the long run the system of cost controls and insurance and health care regulations it contains may be even more important.
We not only have a plan, we’ve passed it. Oh, and not including our cost controls (which the CBO doesn’t count because it’s impossible to figure out hard numbers for those) it already saves as much as Ryan’s plan to ensure that the elderly don’t get medical care at all.
SFAW
Sure. And War is Peace.
You can keep repeating the Rethug talking points until you faint from hypoxia, but the truth value of your statement will remain at zero. {I know, I know, it’s more likely you’ll faint from being confronted by SCARY Dems.)
But, thanks for playing! What do we have for THIS loser, Johnny?
gwangung
It takes no courage to propose a plan that doesn’t even try to do what it says it does.
Now, try again. And try not to be so lame in your trolling.
Gravenstone
@Reality Check: The Democratic (spelling is important, little boy)plan (not simply a
proposallie) is to address the costs of medical care overall via the ACA (as a starting point). That has the added benefit of reinforcing Medicare, Medicaid and the economy as a whole. But then you’d obviously rather cling to your side’s disastrous attempt at destroying Medicare in the name of “saving” it. Typical Republican Orwellian inspired framing.Concerned Citizen
@Reality Check: Do you like Pawlenty?
Fred
@Violet: Jebus fucking christ. When are you people gonna realize Palin is not running. She NEVER had any intention of running. She can earn more money by keeping that question out there. That is ALL!
Fuck me why are people so dumb. Just like the Chump is running bullshit. Anyone with half a brain knew with 100% certainty he was not running.
Frankensteinbeck (The ex-Uloborus)
@Fred:
Because Palin does not have half a brain, and so may not follow her own reasoning.

Oh no, Obama is so ARROGANT!

Mnemosyne
@Reality Check:
The Affordable Care Act. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
Maybe you should pay better attention to current events.
Also, Cornel West has been pissed off at Obama for at least a year. Again, paying attention to current events would be a good idea before you come here.
Mnemosyne
Sorry, that story I linked to above was from April of 2010 — I now have a story from January of 2010 where West rakes Obama over the coals. So, again, what exactly is the breaking news here?
Mnemosyne
Gah. Stupid moderation.
Violet
@Frankensteinbeck (The ex-Uloborus):
Exactly. Palin is a narcissist and a grifter. The question is, which one will win out in this situation.
SFAW
Please make a concerted effort to use the appropriate racially-tinged language in the future.

@Reality Check:
In 2000, I saw Cornel West at a play in San Francisco with his wife. This woman was so white her hair was translucent. She looked of Nordic decent and was pretty stunning. In the context of him bashing Obama as a slave to white culture and calling himself a free black man it makes you think. I mean he practically called Obama an oreo.
scav
OT but tangentially linked through eyes. Finally figured out one thing that was worrying me about Newt’s armed sheep. Their faces looked familiar but the MO had changed. Carly Fiorina’s demon sheep are now armed!

I really would like more no-brainer, red meat posts about race which require little critical thinking to read and respond to. Thx in advance.

That’s OK, it’s better than his original plan of calling Obama a “honky”.

I also like Hermain Cain very much. The more I see him speak, the more I like him. He would make a great VP.

@Reality Check:
Ah, a spoof troll. You tipped your hand with the “overton window” bit. No one on the right gives a shit about Overton.
Bill Arnold
@Reality Check:
Careful, three rights make a left.
But in this case you’re wrong, IMO, except among die-hard Fox News viewers.
(For instance, the Republicans are asking younger Americans to accept changes that make it very likely that their parents will move in with them and then leave them a negative inheritance, unless of course their parents are rich. Democrats have barely started to mine the talking points and arguments made possible by the RyanCare proposal.)
Left Coast Tom
@Mnemosyne: Good catch!
Although, I’m not fully convinced that faux-gressives aren’t actually on the political “right”.
Church Lady
What’s up with that goofy gigantic black (silk, I assume) floppy bow Cornel West always seems to have on? It looks like something unfortunate I wore in the eighties. It’s more mockable than Tucker Carlson’s stupid bow ties.
SFAW
But not as mockable as Princess Beatrice’s $30K (and counting) thing. (Not quite sure what to call it.)
And Tucker doesn’t need a bow tie to be mockable, although the tie does scream “Please! Mock me!” about its wearer. I guess the only thing left for Tucker Eustace Fitzdinkle Carlson to add to his wardrobe is spats.
Paul in KY
‘Wevley Shea’? Is he the love child of Elmer Fudd & Babawa Wawa?

@Svensker: Just wanted to thank you for a brilliant Firesign Theater reference. How can we work in “the far-flung Isles of Langerhans”??
SFAW
Wouldn’t that be overdoing it? (The ridiculousness factor, that is. Although given where Tuckie is today, well ….)
ETA: Or was that a Eustace Tilly ref I missed the first time around?
Paul in KY
@SFAW: Not a Eustace Tilly reference. With what Tucker generally wears, I thought he had thrown ‘ridiculousness’ out the window a long time ago.
Tucker is the kind of guy who thinks the little dude in Monopoly is the hero of the game.
Amanda
Wevley? Really? As anyone’s name, but for a guy? Really? Oooookay…..
