It’s not called Christchurch for nothing…
ETA:
Auckland Catholic Church spokeswoman Lyndsay Freer told NZPA church attendance had not increased at all since Camping’s warnings.
She described his prediction as ”scaremongering nonsense”, that had nothing to do with scripture.
”We’re not superstitious here.”
There was no indication in the Bible for when the Apocalypse would strike, she said.

Still with us then, sinner?

Checking in from Taupo. This sinner is still here. The sunset was rapturous tonight, though!

Quarter of an hour into the Rapture here in NZ, and local media reporting only limited uptake so far. Can’t comment personally as I’m rural and so won’t know unless my cats or sheep get raptured. Which after this afternoon’s performance I consider unlikely.

@Sarah Proud and Tall: STill here.
The last earthquake today was at 7:30am, a 3.0 near Christchurch.
Nothing much else happened – a regular Saturday.

Didn’t know so many in NZ drank balloon juice? Kiwi’s? Expats?

Is somebody going to check on Pitcairn Island? Wait, do Seventh Day Adventists even believe in the Rapture?

“We’re not superstitious here.” I love it.

Saints, virgin birth, transubstantiation, and on and on…. No. No superstition at all……. ha ha ha…… they don’t even know themselves.

So, it’s only crazy when you put a date on it?
Uh huh…

BTW, the entire, pious state of Kansas is still here as far as I can tell by the traffic on my trip to the grocery store a few moments ago……… I’m guessing Mr. Camping is slightly off on his computations. We’ll know for sure when Brownback does something stupid on Monday. Which, if any of you are familiar with Brownback, will happen the moment he gets out of bed.

@Nellie: Originally from the UK, myself, but prefer to think of myself as a Kiwi for obvious reasons.

@Nellie: Kiwi. Regular lurker/reader, posting not so much.

My friends in Queenstown appear to be alive. Could be zombie posting, though.

Well, good to know that all of these baby things I’m knitting for friends and acquaintances won’t go to waste.
(For the uninitiated, one of the creepier details of the Rapture as detailed by the Left Behind books is that all of the unborn fetuses will be Raptured, leaving millions of women suddenly un-pregnant.)

Checking in from Wellington where the only sign of any kind of apocalypse is the Airport deciding to put that stupid Wellywood sign in after all (fortunately there are so many talented graffiti artists down here that it’s not going to stay a big white sign for very long).

Bugger. Also in Wellington, but i made the mistake of staying indoors.
I got a huge bump on my head, took the Lord’s name in vain in a rather profane manner, and now I’m stuck here.

So no looting parties after all? Man if you can’t even rely on men of The Book, what can you rely on.
Darkrose
@SRW1: Dammit! I was hoping for a new car.

There is no indication in the Bible that there will be an Apocalypse at all. What’s in there is so metaphorical and open to interpretation that it could mean just about anything (or nothing).

8am Sunday morning here in NZ. And what a nice looking morning it is!
We’re all still here, so we must all be sinners!

The Catholic Church isn’t going to promote the Rapture, because it’s a Protestant Fundamentalist story. And in that story, Catholics don’t get raptured.
Basically, the Rapture is a Conferade revenge fantasy. Jesus comes back with his mighty army to slaughter all the Catholics, Jews, Muslims, etc etc blah blah blah. Southern Baptists get teleported away from the killing floor, and everyone else is butchered.
Personally, I think that’s the real story of the Rapture that people aren’t talking about. It’s not the beginning of the story that should alarm you, but the ending.
