An Islamic high court in northern Nigeria rejected an appeal today from a single mother sentenced to be stoned to death for having had sex out of wedlock.
The woman’s lawyers said they planned to file an appeal to a yet higher Islamic court. If that failed, they could appeal to the Supreme Court, where the case would force a showdown between Nigeria’s constitutional and religious authorities.

And before you start that ‘not everyone who practices Islam is like this” crap with me, you get every jackhole who works for CAIR and the other Muslim apologia apparatchiks out there to start raising hell about this. Don’t count on it- they are too busy telling us how racist we are because some Americans just might think it is a good idea to look twice at young, bearded, Arab Muslim men from Saudi Arabia on one way plane trips.
Most spectators in court on Monday welcomed the ruling.
“This is a triumph of Allah’s law against the enemies of Shariah,” said Muhammad Radiu, 26, an Islamic studies student. “By this judgment, we are confident the government is serious about the implementation of Shariah.”

The National Education Association is suggesting to teachers that they be careful on the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks not to “suggest any group is responsible” for the terrorist hijackings that killed more than 3,000 people.
Suggested lesson plans compiled by the NEA recommend that teachers “address the issue of blame factually,” noting: “Blaming is especially difficult in terrorist situations because someone is at fault. In this country, we still believe that all people are innocent until solid, reliable evidence from our legal authorities proves otherwise.”

I didn’t think Ben Domenech would have much to say about last night’s pre-season game between the Steelers and the Redskins. Probably because our first and second team players beat his first string defense into the ground. The ‘fun and gun’ offense was more of the ‘son of a gun’ offense.
Sure, the Redskins came back in the 4th quarter and won. Big deal. What that means is that all the guys the Redskins are going to cut are better than all the guys we are going to cut.

But the NY Times thinks it is just A-OK to track down and arrest only deadbeat dads. What would the outcry be if they had arrested only women?
