Jeff Jarvis circulates this pledge:
The Post-Election Peace Pledge
: I take this pledge (inspired by a few of the posts below below):
After the election results are in, I promise to:
: Support the President, even if I didn’t vote for him.
: Criticize the President, even if I did vote for him.
: Uphold standards of civilized discourse in blogs and in media while pushing both to be better.
: Unite as a nation, putting country over party, even as we work together to make America better.
Of course I will support the President- we are at war. You needed to circulate this to some Democrats about 3 years ago. And try getting them to sign it if Bush wins today.

I’m not taking this stupid pledge?
You’re willing to pledge to support a traitor, a liar and a coward? Please.
The “Impeach Kerry” movement starts 15 nanoseconds after the inaugural speech.
Sandi
Ordinarily I would support any president that I didn’t vote for. However, after learning of the work he did back in the late 60’s and early 70’s helping the North Vietnamese, demoralizing the POW’s and shaming the vetrans of that war, I must decline.
He is not worthy of any government office let alone the Presidency.
That said I WILL support the office of the President reguardless of who sits there, assuming I can keep the two separate in my mind.
CowKitty
I’m with Paul and Sandi. Ordinarily I’d agree, but if the Traitor is elected, unlike the Hollywoods that promised to move in 2000, I really am moving.
Election of the two Johns is all I need to convince me the USA is on a total downhill slide.

I agree with this pledge. Although I will be sorely disappointed if Kerry wins, solidarity is essential in time of war. This election has been a good thing in some ways, not the least of which is stimulating our citizens to vote in record numbers. However, it has also shown the world how divided a nation we can be. We need to have a unified, solid front as a country in wartime, or we do nothing but shoot our international credibility in the foot.

I pledge to visit this and all other dumbass rightwing blogs as often as I can, to remind you that your chimp LOST the election like the loser that he is, and to point out that none of you are worth more than a 16-oz. Mountain Dew bottle filled to the top with piss.
That’s MY pledge.

I’m sure we’ll hear much more astute commentary from Andy in the near future, but for now his mom needs to use the computer.

I willing do part of the pledge: I will criticize Kerry when he needs it if he wins. But I don’t think I can both support my country and support George Bush. I think that as a patriot and a citizen I have to fight Bush. The fact that he misled us into an unnecessary war and wrongefully brought about the deaths of Americans and Iraqis is a big factor in my thinking.
I also pledge this: I willing continue to be, as I always am, civil. And I certainly appreciate your effort to promote civility and respect. Thank you.
boloboffin
I’m a Democrat. If Bush wins fair and square (unlike last time – back to the point) I’ll recognize him as the President. I’ve got no problem with that.

Bush is going to win Andy, so (no pun intended) piss off.

OK, Dems first, maybe then we can get away from this hateBUSH?HITLER thing.
And boloboffin, I responded to a comment on my site at the “Al Gore Legacy” post. It’s off the top of my head, but the facts are pretty much there. As I see ’em,,, not sure- I’m not smart enough to be a Liberal.. I’m barely literate
Roo
oops memnt BUSH/HITLER.. you know how ignorant us conservatives are
Sandi

Its all over, but I can’t handle Mt Dew, make mine a 16oz Miller Genuine Draft.

If Bush wins fair and square (my ass this is happening), I wouldn’t support him. We need change in this country, and we need to be taken seriously, GW is not going to take us seriously.
I mean it’s cool, you can support oil pimp all you want.
Sadly, this country is divided, and it doesn’t look like Bush is the one to unite us, if Bush were to win, he would no doubt begin to gain a campaign to remove him from office, people are not going to accept a Bush win this year. Oh Ohio, we all knew the republicans made you this years Florida, lets see how many people eat it up!
Platosearwax
By the looks of it, the first few posters should sign the pledge as well.
The Truth Hurts
Did you ever stop to think, JustinO and Andy, that we’re ‘divided’ because of a$$holes like you? Take a long look in the mirror.
DaveP.
Andy, Justin:
1- Bush won in 2000- four seperate recounts by major media outlets say so.
2- Bush jusw won BIG nationwide, both in the electoral and in teh popular. In fact, he INCREASED his vote count over 2000- so thank yourselves for getting more Republican voters out than there has been for 20 years.
3- The Republicans also picked up seats both in the House and in the Senate, which shows tha the voters were not just voting the man, but also the party and the ideals.
4- SUCK IT UP, MONKEY.
5- Remember, the blade goes DOWN the wrist and not ACROSS.
Kimmitt
both in the electoral and in teh popular.
But he is still teh suck, no matter what you lam0rz say.
Justin O.
Look, I don’t accept this man as my president, many Americans don’t either. You see the flames that ignite with this man, he’s given Light My Fire by The Doors a new meaning. There was no doubt alot of funny junk in Ohio, but screw Ohio……there has been time after time of a growing importance of the decisions the President has made, because he’s gonna screw us all over and maybe we’ll actually have a chemical fuck attack as described by the one and only Lewis Black.
The Truth Hurts
“Look, I don’t accept this man as my president, many Americans don’t either.”
Sorry numbnuts…that’s not your choice. That’s just the way it is. If your guy didn’t win then suck it up and accept it like a real man or get the hell out. I hear Paris is nice this time of year.
If I can live in America and serve in her military for EIGHT YEARS under Clinton, then, by G_d you can do just fine with Bush AS YOUR PRESIDENT! As has been stated previously: Suck it up, monkey! Be a man and stop being ‘devisive’.
