Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

He really is that stupid.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

The revolution will be supervised.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

Museums are not America’s attic for its racist shit.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

Not all heroes wear capes.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Sometimes the world just tells you your cat is here.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

I Hope It Isn’t Unseemly

But I am still giddy that Yasser Arafat has one foot in the grave and the other in a banana peel. Now it is time for someone to just give him a gentle push:

Yasir Arafat will be flown to Paris and hospitalized in an attempt to cure a mysterious two-week-old ailment that has seriously weakened the 75-year-old Palestinian leader, French and Palestinian officials said here this evening.

Mr. Arafat is scheduled to fly by helicopter early Friday to Amman, Jordan, and then on to Paris, Munib al-Masri, a Palestinian businessman close to Mr. Arafat, said.

Maybe the helicopter will wreck. Although the idea of him slowly wasting away painfully is more appealing to me. Alas, he will comforted to the end by his friends: The French.

At least they are consistent- they never met a dictator they weren’t willing to coddle to the very end.

Terror Threats

by John Cole|  October 28, 20047:40 pm| 7 Comments

This post is in: War on Terror aka GSAVE®

You know what, I have no respect for terrorists, and I simply refuse to fear them:

The CIA and FBI have authenticated a new al Qaeda videotape which warns of retribution for Americans electing Bush and Cheney.

“What took place on September 11 was but the opening salvo of the global war on America and that our Lord willing, the magnitude and ferocity of what is coming your way will make you forget all about September 11,” the man, whose face is covered by a headdress, warns in the video.

“After decades of American tyranny, now it’s your turn to die.”

The alarming tape which warns the next terror attack will dwarf 9/11.

The CIA and FBI late Wednesday authenticated the tape, federal sources tell DRUDGE.

ABCNEWS obtained the tape from a source in Pakistan.

“You are guilty, guilty, guilty. You’re as guilty as Bush and Cheney. You’re as guilty as Rumsfeld and Ashcroft and Powell…,” the man states.

He goes on to warn of an upcoming horror: “The streets will run with blood,” and “America will mourn in silence” because they will be unable to count the number of the dead.

“People of America, that was the verdict now for the sentencing: as participants and partners in the crimes of the regime, you too shall pay the price for the blood that has been spilled.”

Is that Karl Rove underneath the turban? This will only help Bush/Cheney.

I would be remiss if I failed to congratulate the Boston Red Sox and their long suffering fans. You earned it.

So fitting, though- I wash my hands of the Sox, and they win eight games in a row.

This is a ind of macabre thought, but I wonder if there will be a stiff incline in the number of elderly deaths in Boston over the next six months?

Congrats, BoSoxPost + Comments (1)

Oil for Food

More on the Oil for Food scandal from the Opinion Journal:

The latest pieces of news are last week’s data dump from Paul Volcker’s U.N.-blessed investigation of Oil for Food, and U.S. weapons inspector Charles Duelfer’s report to Congress earlier this month. Everybody is still digesting these massive documents. But the most important conclusion is already clear: Saddam Hussein exploited the program to run the largest bribery scheme in the history of the world.

Yes, we mean that literally. Total turnover between 1996 and 2003 was about $97 billion, or $64.2 billion in oil sales and $32.9 billion worth of food and other “humanitarian” goods. Crucially, Saddam was able to manipulate the program largely because U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan–who was given more or less complete discretion to design Oil for Food by the Security Council resolution that created it–allowed him to pick and choose the buyers of his oil and the sellers of the humanitarian goods.

This meant the Iraq dictator could reward his friends and political allies with oil at below market prices and goods contracts at inflated ones. In the middle of the program, he also started demanding kickbacks on the contracts to add to the stream of unmonitored revenue he was already getting from oil smuggling.

These are the respective ‘allies’ whose asses John Kerry desires to kiss.

Just Die Already

Great news from the Middle East:

Foreign doctors rushed to Yasser Arafat’s side on Thursday to tend to the seriously ill Palestinian leader, who for decades has symbolized his people’s struggle for statehood.

The 75-year-old ex-guerrilla, loved by most of his people and reviled by many Israelis, has suffered stomach pains since last week.

His health took a dramatic turn for the worse on Wednesday and officials said he had been slipping in and out of consciousness, though on Thursday he had also been able to eat, talk and say prayers.

Just fucking die already and slither through the gates of hell. Arafat easily makes my top ten list for most evil person of the century, and I hope he enjoys the long, slow burn he has earned.

Typical

The worm is turning in regards to this nonsense at Al QaQaa. Two new stories via Drudge:

1.) Russians May Have Moved Explosives:

Russian special forces troops moved many of Saddam Hussein’s weapons and related goods out of Iraq and into Syria in the weeks before the March 2003 U.S. military operation, The Washington Times has learned.

John A. Shaw, the deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said in an interview that he believes the Russian troops, working with Iraqi intelligence, “almost certainly” removed the high-explosive material that went missing from the Al-Qaqaa facility, south of Baghdad.

“The Russians brought in, just before the war got started, a whole series of military units,” Mr. Shaw said. “Their main job was to shred all evidence of any of the contractual arrangements they had with the Iraqis. The others were transportation units.”

2.) Iraqis May Be Over-estimating Missing Material:

Iraqi officials may be overstating the amount of explosives reported to have disappeared from a weapons depot, documents obtained by ABC News show.

The Iraqi interim government has told the United States and international weapons inspectors that 377 tons of conventional explosives are missing from the Al-Qaqaa installation, which was supposed to be under U.S. military control.

But International Atomic Energy Agency documents obtained by ABC News and first reported on “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings” indicate the amount of missing explosives may be substantially less than the Iraqis reported.

The information on which the Iraqi Science Ministry based an Oct. 10 memo in which it reported that 377 tons of RDX explosives were missing

Sorry, Guys- You are Willing Accomplices

This post is in: Democratic Stupidity

The following individuals might want to get in touch with John Kerry, the DNC, CBS, and the NY Times and tell them ‘thanks.’

Joe Manchin, III– (D.) candidate for governor of WV
Barbara Evans Fleishcauer– (D) candidate for the WV House of Delegates
Robert “Bob” Beach– (D) candidate for the WV House of Delegates

Why would you want to get in touch with the Kerry campaign? Because I had planned to vote for you in the general election, but because of Kerry’s behavior the past two days, I decided to tell all Democrats to go to hell. When I heard Kerry saying ‘soldiers are being fired upon by the weapons left unguarded,’ trying to pimp a bullshit story for political advantage, I almost had a minor stroke.

How do you fire these explosives? Do they have a trigger? How do you aim them? LYING SACK OF SHIT.

It was at that point, I couldn’t take it anymore. I went downtown to the Sneior Center and voted early. I have to get on with my life.

At any rate, I normally vote 40-50% Republican, 25% libertarian, 25% Democratic. Not this year. Every Democrat is guilty as far as I am concerened. YOu chose this man, you live with him. I refuse to reward the behavior I have seen over the past four years.

I did, however, vote for John Perdue (D), for State Treasurer. He is just too fundamentally decent a man to punish, and would have been governor (wiith my suppoert) three times over had the monied fratboys that run our state Democratic party not blocked his candidacy every year.

The rest of the Democrats- to hell with them. Guilt by association works for me.
