Matt Margolis and Mark Noonan (yes, that Mark Noonan) have a a new book titled “Caucus of Corruption,” which ostensibly highlights rampant Democratic corruption. The cover of the book features a quote from Tom DeLay.
Take it away, Poorman.

So I came up short on what Bush would say in his Wednesday press conference. That’s cool. With the right seasonings crow isn’t half bad. Maybe he will even match words up with deeds, but don’t count on it it. We have seen the president rhetorically turn on a dime before. Changing his act will take a lot more work.
Of course Dick Cheney, considered Batman to the president’s affable, dim Robin, didn’t bother with conciliatory words. Don’t expect pleasantries from a guy whose governing philosophy revolves around the idea that Nixon gave up too easily and don’t expect diplomacy from a guy who views every conflict as a savage death struggle between implacable foes. The first subpoena to slide under Cheney’s undisclosed door will kick off a scrap that won’t settle until Bush’s SCOTUS picks have had their say, if then.
Maybe with Rumsfeld gone Cheney will have a harder time spreading his murk around Washington. That assumes the existence of a compassionate president beneath the naked machiavellianism championed by Rove and the Veep, one who can finally take advantage of the dark pair’s weakened state to express his basic humanity. Could be, but it’s been twenty-four hours since Bush extended his open hand to the Democrats and already we have two reasons to think that he meant to extend a finger.
One:
Word has just reached me from a well-placed source that the White House has continued to push John Bolton’s confirmation prospects as US Ambassador to the United Nations despite the election outcome.
Another highly placed source has informed me that in just a few minutes Senator Lincoln Chafee is calling a press conference to state categorically that he will not support John Bolton’s confirmation in the upcoming lame duck session.
Two:
For the new 110th Congress, a long-overdue investigation of warrantless eavesdropping seems far more likely than legalization of it, to put it mildly. For that reason, the President made clear in a Rose Garden speech today that he wants Congressional action taken on that bill during the lame duck session, to convene before Democrats take over in January.
Kiss my black ass indeed. Or for the sake of brevity, KMBA. Expect to see it often.

Veteran 60 Minutes correspondent Ed Bradley died Thursday at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan of complications from leukemia.
Bradley joined the staff of the venerable news magazine 26 years ago. His consummate skills as a broadcast journalist and his distinctive body of work were recognized with numerous awards, including 19 Emmys, the latest for a segment that reported the reopening of the 50-year-old racial murder case of Emmett Till.
I have watched 60 Minutes every week since I was a kid, and without question, my two favorite all-time 60 Minutes newscasters are Harry Reasoner and Ed Bradley. I honestly had no idea that Bradley had leukemia, although just a week or so ago, I thought to my self that his voice sounded funny.
Sometimes when these celebrities and famous people pass, I nod, and say to myself- “He/she had a good life.” Other times, I just feel old, as I did when Mr. Rogers died, because someone from my youth has died. And in some cases, I think to myself that I am really, really going to miss that individual’s contributions. In this case, with Ed Bradley passing, it is a little bit of all three.
RIP, Ed Bradley.

Unlike the military, it appears America’s Christian soldiers leave their dead and wounded behind:
Ted Haggard, the evangelical pastor who was dismissed following allegations of indulging in gay sex and abusing drugs, has agreed to undergo a “spiritual” rehabilitation process.
H.B. London of Focus on the Family said that the process, which could take anywhere between three to five years, was successful 50 percent of the time. “Guys just wear out and they can no longer subject themselves to the process,” he said, adding that those who fail “end up selling cars or shoes or something, and being miserable and angry the rest of their lives.”
***Focus on the Family founder James C. Dobson was supposed to be the part of a team responsible for counseling Haggard, but Dobson withdrew citing a lack of time. “Emotionally and spiritually, I wanted to be of help — but the reality is, I don’t have the time to devote to such a critical responsibility,” Dobson said.
Jack Hayford of Van Nuys’ Church on the Way and Tommy Barnett of First Assembly of God in Phoenix are the other two members of the counseling team. Meanwhile it is not clear if Haggard wants to return to the ministry. But Leonard Chessler, Haggard’s lawyer said that he was devoted to God, “He says that he has committed his life to God and that he is looking for direction as to where God can best use him,” he added.
Spiritual healing to get rid of teh gay… I can’t stand these lunatics.
If Haggard wants to do God’s work, he should get treatment for his meth addiction, then stand up and loudly state he is gay, there is nothing wrong with it, and that God still loves him. What a service that would be to the closeted homosexuals in his church whose lives have been made miserable by folks like, well, Haggard.

Less than 24 hours since the polls closed in which our new Communist leaders were elected and the terrorists won, and already people are showing their true colors as terrorist-enablers:
FIRST, LET’S GET one thing straight. Contrary to the suggestions sometimes heard on conservative talk radio, the terrible headlines out of Iraq aren’t an invention of liberal news media. They all too accurately reflect the grim reality. Since the bombing of Samarra’s mosque in February, at least 20,000 Iraqis have died violently and more than 230,000 have been displaced from their homes. The restraint once exercised by Shiites is gone; Shiite death squads have become as big a problem as Sunni terrorists.
Max Boot- defeatist, traitor, America-hater, and Bush-basher. All good Americans know that everything is rosy in Iraq and that the media is making this all up.

The talking heads on MSNBC are claiming that Rumsfeld is stepping down and will be replaced with Robert Gates.
Kinda hard to hear the announcer at the White House with the protestors chanting ‘Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Good bye.’
