Via Sully, this:
The first thing I thought when I saw that was how long before that is in a movie in a theatre near you. If I had to bet, the Wachowski’s would have loved that for the Matrix.

That looks to me like something they should incorporate into the next several “Harry Potter” movies, in particular the “snaking through the doorway” effect. Combine that with a green screen so the background can be moving but not part of the chronotopic effect and you’d have a really cool scene.

A friendly question: Why do you keep linking to Sullivan? It does nothing to shore up your credibility.
Just asking.

I don’t understand the sully hate out there in the rest of the ‘sphere. Maybe I just haven’t been around long enough to know the whole story, but it seems like many bloggers/commenters have a ‘he who must not be named’ thing going on about him. Is there some sort of history I am missing?

Isn’t this just a time offset for each scanline?
awesome possibilities, though…

Most cell phone cameras exhibit this effect, but to a much lower degree.
If you record a video while moving the camera sideways, you will see skewing of the image, because the consecutive scanlines are captured at different times.
(might have to turn the camera sideways, depending on the orientation of the CCD)

Phhht. It probably cost thousands of dollars for the software that does that. I used to be able to see the same thing for a $5 investment in a hit of LSD.

I’m pretty sure most of it has to do with Sully’s extraordinary wanking and wingnuttery following 9/11. The guy basically called “the left” a giant class of traitors.
Then he went on to cheerlead for the Iraq war like he was a Freeper. He’s since had basically a John Cole-type conversion to sanity, but his arrogant and self-absorbed preening still drips from him. Probably why he hates the Clintons so much – they’re as self-absorbed as he is.

Regarding Sully, what Ted said, plus a whole lot more. I’ve been reading Sully since mid-2000; mostly the last six years as a constant reminder of what unbridled arrogance and lack of self-awareness/humility looks like. Naturally, after all of Andrew’s fuck ups, he has emerged more prominent than ever in the MSM.

I link to Sully for the same reason I link to anyone- to give credit to where I read something.

I noted that “Sully” has linked to you a couple/few times of late. How does that blogger quid pro quo work? As a mutual traffic bumper?
Do you and Andy exchange emails not posted here? I’m always curious as to how much inter-blogger schmoozing goes on that the hoi polloi is not made aware of.
Just asking.

There really isn’t a quid pro quo. If I see something interesting of his, I link it. If he sees something he finds interesting, he links it.
If anything, the thing I try to do is link smaller blogs who have good ideas, and am always very receptive when people email me links of things they have written. There are several blogs on my blogroll now that the only reason I read is because they emailed to let me know they exist, or commented here in the comments, I checked them out, and liked what I saw.

Oh- and as to emailing, I email people links when I think it is relevant to something they are saying. Doesn’t mean they will answer, though. I emailed Sullivan the other day to tell him I thought he was full of it on his overblown reaction to Clark, and I heard nothing back.

Thanks for your calm, informative replies. I appreciate it.
