Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

Eh, that’s media spin. biden’s health is fine and he’s doing a good job.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Second rate reporter says what?

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

This really is a full service blog.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

And now, in the time it took me to write this post, it is back up to down -180.

I’m sickened that all you do is wish this market to go down. I expected better of you and the other commenters who havent yet commented but will certainly pray the markets continue to tank and even if they dont I will most certainly take their words out of context and meaning to KNOW that they too, just like you, are worthless douchenozzles that only hope for the financial destruction of this great country.

@Punchy: That is possibly the stupidest comment I’ve seen. He didn’t say that he wanted to go down, fool. He’s watching it go down, and is noting the fact. Since when is observing the market a wish for it to go a certain way?

You need to unconnect the kool-aid hose that is stuck to your mouth.

Seriously Punchy, how stupid are you?

No one is happy about this. My 401K is down 34% for the year right now. I’m not gloating about my retirement getting creamed. I want to kick some ass, and I think I should be kicking republican ass.

I’ll do my best on November 4.

Don’t worry everyone! President Bush is going to be on the TeeVee soon to reassure us.

How much you wanna bet the markets tank after he babbles for 10 minutes.

I just wish he’d shut up.

And in fact, what he actually said was that the market was back *up* to down -180, an improvement from the "down close to 600" at the beginning of the post.

Yes, I was fucking joking. Snark hard to sell in a recession, it appears.

Man, Yahoo is going to cause a few suicides this morning if they dont fix their ticker. It’s adding yesterday’s losses to today, and thus showing a ~10% drop in the market. To the uninformed, this could cause serious health problems….

I assume some of you caught the Obama-Gibson interview, where Obama pointed out that Bush isn’t effective in this role because there’s a fundamental lack of trust with his administration. I’m not sure what’s worse: a president who doesn’t have any credibility with the public or one who isn’t capable of realizing he doesn’t have any credibility.

The fat fluffy orange kitty is my favorite kind EVER. Also.
You betcha when my two geriatrics go home to Jesus I will allow myself to get one of them those, doggonit.

I’m all wound up because the stupid idiot woman who spammed me with the Hannity "documentary" on Obama yesterday emailed back: "Sorry to offend…I want to be informed and thought others would too." 20 min later she sends me a fucking worldnetdaily email: Farrakhan on Obama: ‘The Messiah is absolutely speaking’
It’s a disgusting recap of everything hateful and false, naturally. I had to ask her a second time to cease and desist. Idiot.
It’s all I can do to not send her the RS stories on McShame and Failin. You know…so she can inform herself and all. This woman hardly knows me, yet she finds it appropriate to assume I’ll welcome and appreciate this propaganda in the interest of better informing myself.
I have called her the ugly "c" word numerous times, which indicates I am way more than a little irritated.

The Dow, while disconcerting, is not important right now.

The important thing is the fact banks have stopped lending. There are hundreds of billions of dollars, euros, yen, & etc worth of debt that needs to be rolled-over (refinanced) in the next month. If they can’t refinance, they’re dead, bankrupt.

Banks have also stopped lending to each other. The primary reason is, since deregulation, they’ve loaded their Balance Sheets with a bunch of toxic garbage they can’t unload meaning their Financial Ratios are anybodies guess.

Bushy-poo can go on the TV and make all the "Woo-woo" noises he wants. Until the Global Banking system – it’s a Global Problem – is fixed the equity markets will continue to fall.

Yesterday was Yom Kippur. One of the things I atoned for (seriously) was being so critical and judgmental of others, while excusing same faults in myself. I said, in this new year, I’m going to give people more benefit of the doubt, etc. But I just can’t do it with Republicans.

You fucked up my parents and in-laws retirements! You ruined America’s standing in the world. You tortured 1000s of innocents, inflaming tensions in the middle east. You spied on Americans, and claimed the right to remove habeus corpus from others. You allowed the environment to be despoiled to benefit some friends of yours. You pushed your corrupt agenda over every piece of scientific evidence, and allowed major cities to be destroyed because you can’t build a government that actually helps people who need it.

And worst of all, you continue to use the most disgusting, racist, sexist, homophobic divisive tactics to further your electoral ends.

    FUCK YOU Republicans.

I guess maybe I’ll have something to atone for next year.

Post of my day! I guess I’ll think about adding one more next Thurs, post final "debate". Or maybe on Wednesday morn, so I can have five on my lap for the debate? How will I choose between fat floofy orange boy or fat floofy white boy? Shit. Once you have 5, 6 is a small leap. (I had 6 when I owned my own home once upon a foreclosure time ago)

Dunno if this has been posted yet but check out this great MY CAT IS A MAVERICK! site.

I’ve also linked my name back to my cats’ blog. Annie (featured in John’s post of last night as a FAIL (hrmph) is a huge Obama supporter.

Regarding the President’s remarks this morning:
First, it’s nice to see that he took more than 90 seconds of his day this time around. The speech was competently assembled if uninspiring. It left me with the impression that still nobody knows what to do and whether what they’re doing will work, but hey, I don’t know jack about economics anyway.

But listening to the audio of the speech, I remembered why I turn off the radio every time this guy comes on. It’s really painful to listen to him. He struggles to deliver his lines. One of the small things I look forward to in an Obama administration is that for the first time since 1988, we’ll have a President whose voice I actually enjoy listening to.

I can not tell you how many times I’ve thought this same thing over the months. He "uhs" a little too much, but I suspect that will stop when in office. "Mellifluous" he is. And how bout the next First Lady rockin it out on both Larry King and The Daily Show. Shit. I’m almost hopeful thinking about kitties and the Obamas in office. Who are adopting a dog and not buying one. WIN.

We’re a 5 cat (+1 dog) household. I remember when we ended up with cat number four my sister says to me:

"You know what 4 cats are? One away from 5 cats"

She is a good prognosticator. We found ourselves at 5 about 2 years ago.

    These are indeed 5-cat days.

Yes, these times are filled with anxiety.
The "good news" is that the world’s financial markets and the govenments that manipulate them are realizing their interdependence. Global governments must come to mutually benefitial solutions to remedy the problems that are effecting their countries.
This is a first momentous step.
The next will be a reduction in generating "treat", both militarily and politically, as it becomes apparent that "we’re ALL in this together". A drastic redirection of defense spending (due to decreased threat) will enable those funds to be used for more positive outcomes.
The world just might come to PEACE at last.

"You know what 4 cats are? One away from 5 cats"

God, isn’t that the truth. The two tabbies in the middle picture are mine and they are nos. 3 & 4 in our household and they were meant to be the end of the kitty train. Two years later, a little girl knocks on our door and asks if we can take her extremely emaciated little tortie kitten as her parents are making her get rid of it and we ended up with our little caboose.

I love the big orange guy, my first cat looked just like him.
