Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

When I was faster i was always behind.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

And now some sheer stupidity from the Confluence:

And what if Barack Obama DOESN’T remind me of Richard Nixon? Then what, you rogues?

And what would happen if we would cross breed the PUMA’s with Mike Pence’s Tiger Team– would we get some super-hybrid of stupid?

I’m not going over there to read the stupid. But really, Obama reminds them of Nixon? WTF? What’s the connection?

I know I don’t have to wear garlic around my neck to ward off the apparently oncoming Obama evil.

And, that picture of Mr. Nattering Nabobs brings back some really bad memories.

Wait, if Barack Obama reminds you of Richard Nixon, does that mean the wingnuts are conceding that he spent the 60s beating up the Commies in California? Does that make Joe Biden into Gerald Ford? Or George Bush into LBJ? If so, who is JKF? Does Dennis Prague become Janice Joplin?

So let the record reflect: I am not saying that Timothy Geithner is as corrupt as Spiro Agnew proved to be or as unfit for the office to which he, Geithner, aims. It would be far too premature to make these claims.

This is how he ends the post. What’s notable is that nowhere in the post does he say what he is saying. He starts off by saying, does Geithner remind you of Agnew? Then he spends the rest of the post saying why the comparison is unfair.

I love when people do this. From what I heard, it pretty much what Goldberg did with the entirety of Liberal Fascism.

Make a claim or comparison. Then go on to say that the comparison is not really fair or valid.

But to the rabid wing-nuts, the message is clear: Obama is Nixon. Liberals are fascists.

It’s the most underhanded, dishonest form of commentary out there.

Did you see their new conspiracy theory yesterday WRT the interview done back in 1996 and just published by Le Monde? According to the wiley PUMA’s why would such a major newspaper be interviewing an unknown guy and his wife back in 1996 when he wasn’t even a senator yet?

    Exhibit A:

"Except this interview was given in 1996. Why was Le Monde interested in the Obamas in 1996 when he wasn’t even a blip on the radar screen and hadn’t won anything yet? Let’s think about the implications. Le Monde would have had to have known he existed. He was just an obscure Chicago lawyer with no major accomplishments and no election victories under his belt. Who the f%^* would have cared? *I* had won more public offices by 1996 than Obama. Le Monde wasn’t beating my door down for an interview. So, the question is: who has been grooming him and for how long?"

This is so full of fail it is pathetic (natch) mainly due to the fact that Le Monde never interviewed him, it was an author working on a book about American married couples who did (and who chose not to put him in the book cause he and Michelle were too "normal") Le Monde just recently found the transcript of the interview. Secondly I dunno maybe the fact that he was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review might have had something to do with it, ya know cause his fizzog had been on the front page of all the major newspapers in the US or something.

The author, Heidi Li Feldman, is the most pretentious, irritating PUMAtard since Lady Lynn Forrester de Rothschild of "I say, Muffy, Obama is an elitist!" fame. Feldman used to sign her blog posts "Heidi Li Feldman, JD, PhD" — an absurd conceit that was too much even for the brain-dead morons who hang out at the PUMA boards to tolerate.

Oh, and she reminds me of Aileen Wuornos. I’m not saying she’s a $10 prostitute. As far as I know, she hasn’t killed several men, dumped their bodies in wooded areas and stolen their wallets and cars. But hey, if Barack Obama reminds me of Peter the Great, obviously Feldman is analogous to Wuornos.
