The White House communications team is going to have to develop their A game a little more because I don’t see it. Not a good thing to have to see O defending Daschle instead of dealing with promoting the stimulus or other worthwhile efforts. Obama’s great in the interviews. He apologizes for Daschle and moves on, and sells his stimulus. He’ll probably get a lot more eyes because the apology will get press. Maybe they’ll stick around for the stimulus.
He isn’t going to have 4 years without a screw up. That’s fantasy. My measure for "screw up at work" is who, and how many, got hurt.
Obama got hurt. That’s a good screw up.
Republicans will see the apology as weakness, and behave like jackals. I think they’re wrong about that.

The legislation sucks, and Democrats do not want to be seen as being personally associated with it. This is the reason Democrats will not go on TV. The President has not been told ‘no’ many times in his life, and the trip to the school was a defense mechanism.
But it has been only two weeks. It took the President’s friend Deval two months. The Presidency is a very, very tough job. It is much harder to be the President than it is to be a Governor.
The first lady’s statement: "We got out! They let us out!", was telling, but wrong. “They” don’t go away. And they are not seven years old.

The media picks a favorite during the election, then proceeds to crap all over them after they are elected. While the press love affair with Clinton ended shortly after the inauguration, and George managed hang on the the love for just a little longer, this is just the modus operandi for the media. The old canard "if it bleeds, it leads," applies to politics, too and right now Obama is bleeding just a little after having to scrub two appointments for tax problems. They have to have something to bleat about on cable and, right now, this is it. Tommorrow the pack will be on to something else and the cycle will begin anew.

When even my mom who’s an independent that usually votes with the Democrats is laughing in spite of herself at Republican jokes on CNN about Obama’s nominees not paying taxes, the White House has a news media problem.
By this time they should have figured out that no one is going to ask Republicans tough questions about (1) how tax cuts-only provide more stimulus than a mix of cuts and spending, and (2) how 8 years of tax cuts contributed (or didn’t contribute) to the current problems. Sheesh.
Seems like Blagojevich is the only Democrat crazy enough to match the Republicans on the media front – so Obama should put him in charge of picking the new WH puppy and send him out to a bunch of shows. That or threaten to pick Dr. Paul Farmer as DHHS secretary. That would keep them occupied for a while.

I gotta call bullshit on that Think Progress chart. Who watches cable news between 6am and 4pm? No one, they’re at work (ok, maybe 6am to 8am people are watching).
Think Progress is only getting those skews (specifically MSNBC) because they are leaving out the prime time shows. Ask yourself, if about 7 million people are watching cable news at 8pm primetime (TV Newser Monday all demos) when most Americans are watching TV, who’s watching during the day? No one. If the GOP truly is ruling our airwaves, they aren’t exactly getting to a wide audience.
Does bias in the media exist? Sure, obviously on Fox’s side and MSNBC Primetime, and there are other examples to be sure. However, when someone asks me is the media in general biased? I say no. Lazy, obsessed with trivia, and easily distracted by any hint of "scandal" Yes. Biased no.

Obama never had a traditional media-centric organization. Never. He lost every battle of the surrogates with Hillary Clinton, and then with John McCain.
McCain would sometimes out-surrogate him two to one on any given day, and HRC was probably three to one. Both of his opponents made more noise. Both of his opponents understood and played traditional media better. It was never his organization’s strong point. It’s partly why he inspires such scorn among media types, I think. He didn’t rely on wall to wall babbling surrogates.

This Brick Oven poster is making it very clear every day that he is our enemy who will never see things in a way that does not damage our country in the service of hating "The Other" , ie, the "libruls." You make is sooooo easy for them, NinerDave. Good things Corporations aren’t centralized at the top, eh? Or that there is no mechanism for meeting together among a small group at that top, like say Boards or something, and it’s also good that members of these Boards cannot participate on Boards sitting at the top of other large Corporate entities. That would be just asking for collusion.
So clearly those at the top are just as disorganized and busy as the rest of us, of course, and there could never be a plan to disseminate points to the media to talk about endlessly in order to pound useful propaganda into your head.
I mean, where would the motive for that be? There is no evidence that any taxpayer dollars are being misdirected to Corporations. Clearly all the failures are because they are "lazy, obsessed with trivia, and easily distracted by any hint of "scandal". Of course.

Want another reason why what you see isn’t bias. How about news organizations as profit making businesses instead of a public service (as they used to be). It’s cheaper to throw up a show like O’Reily or Olbermann, rather than have an investigative show, which takes lots of expensive labor intensive resources.
There are a ton of reasons why you see a shitty media, a bunch of CEOs distributing talking points is not one of them.
