Two Switches In The Wrong Direction
Stephen Lynch (D-MA) and Mike Arcuri (D-NY) badly need to hear from any of you who live in their districts.
This could be part of the expected ass-covering that I predicted earlier, in which case it could actually be good news, but I wouldn’t count on that.
Lynch: 202-225-3984 202-225-8273 (DC), 508-586-5555 (MA)
Arcuri: 202-225-1891 (DC), 315-798-4099 (NY)
***Update***
Well what do you know. It appears that the Chamber of Commerce influenced Arcuri and possibly others with a poll that doesn’t come close to meeting minimum polling standards. If you live in his district or other targeted districts (for example, Jason Altmire’s), it would not hurt to read the linked article and then call.
***Update 2***
From the comments.
I called Lynch’s local office (the D.C. office was busy) and was informed that Lynch is merely opposed to the “procedural maneuvering” of utilizing deem and pass on the bill.
When I pressed whether he opposed any of the substance of the bill I was told to call the D.C. office and the person that I spoke to could not tell me whether Lynch would vote in favor of the legislation if deem and pass were not utilized. That seems quite odd to me.
What a load of bull. Ask anyone you know who lives in that district to call Lynch and give him hell for that pathetic excuse.

TPM reports that Kucinich is lobbying holdouts to vote for healthcare reform.
Good for him. He’s been showing some grit and class, along with real concern for his constituents, and I’m re-thinking my take on the guy.
The Meltdown Begins
I hope people keep jamming a microphone in Stupak’s face:
Congressman Bart Stupak, D-Mich, responded sharply to White House officials touting a letter representing 59,000nuns that was sent to lawmakers urging them to pass the health care bill.
The conservative Democrat dismissed the action by the White House saying, “When I’m drafting right to life language, I don’t call up the nuns.” He says he instead confers with other groups including “leading bishops, Focus on the Family, and The National Right to Life Committee.”
Every single time he opens his mouth, it helps his primary opponent:

Asshole racist Steve Levy is switching parties and running as a Republican for New York State governor. You know the drill:
Mr. Levy, 50, the Suffolk County executive, said he wanted voters to see him as “Scott Brown II,” referring to the Massachusetts senator who pulled off an upset against a heavily favored Democrat in January.
[….]He can be particular about having his picture taken, telling a visiting newspaper photographer at his office, “Am I being too much of an image-conscious guy if I say, ‘Can you get my front?’ ” He then sheepishly explained that a recent photo of him that appeared in print had made his nose look too big. He is a sturdy 5-foot-6 with a broad chest built up from years of weight lifting.
Nominating Levy would be a terrible idea for Republicans. If they are ever going to make relevant again in New York State, they will have to make in-roads with non-white voters. Putting up the most blatantly xenophobic elected official in the state as your candidate for governor isn’t going to get it done.
