WE WANT A RALLY THREAD NOW!
Studly Pantload
How can B-J not have a thread for the Cheek Pop Heard ‘Round the World?
soonergrunt
Not wanting to minimize this, because the thought of Breitbart providing analysis on anything other than fraudulent media claims, about which he is an acknowledged expert, is indeed sickening, does ANYBODY actually watch ABC news?
soonergrunt
@Studly Pantload: ??
The Moar You Know
So much for ABC. They’re dead to me now.
stuckinred
A friend of mine asked me
Where has he been
Where is he now?
I said he’s been set free
Shares a little joke with the world somehow
Sounded like he’d make a halo
When I heard his laughter floating
It’s all for fun you know
He said he just let go
Shares a little joke with the world
J Airplane!

@soonergrunt:
The friendly folks from Myth Busters just had the Sanity+Fear Rally apprx. 150k crowd all do a serious of sounds (polite laugh, maniacal laugh, cry, cheek pop) all at once.
And now, here’s Jon!
Irony
So if Breitbart is now an insider, does this mean he can no longer complain about the “liberal” media?
Somehow I doubt it.
Comrade Luke
Here’s an article you never saw during the last administration.
No double standards or anything…
Hunter Gathers
The joke is on us.
And we need a thread for the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear.
Cat Lady
I already contacted them to tell them that I will make it a point to not watch any of their programming. I don’t anyway, but now they know why. They’re not even pretending anymore.

Media: anything for ratings, even if it means allowing the crooks and snake-oil salesmen to run the show.

@The Moar You Know: Just now? Really? They lost me when they ran the “Path to 9/11” sloppy blowjob mini-series.
Studly Pantload
But, yes, to remain on topic, I would agree that ABC’s decision to include Breitbart in their election night coverage is an ominous sign of the state of disrepair of our aging broadcast-news infrastructure.
benjoya
ABC? sorry, doesn’t ring a bell.
stuckinred
@gbear: NO NO We want our own!@

@benjoya: Great old Jackson 5 tune.

Hiring Breitbart to analyze politics is like employing smallpox to discuss epidemiology.
J sub D
Oh fuck. Breitbart is nothing but a retarded partisan douchebag.
Elie
Y’all know the deal: controversy and grievance sell and ABC has to sell ads to viewers who tune in whether they are pissed off and want to document it in fervent letters and emails and also be exposed to whatever shit they are selling…
Ya wanna screw em? Dont watch and dont talk about it
El Cid
Well, it makes ABC quite the joke.
rob!
We gave up on ABC right around the time of the 9/11 “It was Clinton’s Fault” TV movie and that despicable debate hosted by Charlie “$200,000 a year is middle class” Gibson and George Snuffaluffagus. This news just makes us feel better about that decision.

It really seems to me that the MSM is giving up on attracting younger readers/viewers and is going after the Teabagger demographic with a vengeance. I suppose they assume those are the only people left who watch or read them.
Alex S.
Well, now I hope that NBC hires David Duke, so we get a chance to hear both sides of the issues.
Cacti
I’d be really upset if I watched TV News.

@El Cid:
Beat me to it. It’s a joke, all right; it’s just, unfortunately, not a hoax.
Zuzu's Petals
I just e-mailed them and told them I was done with ABC News and I was going to contact their sponsors and tell them why.
Disgusting.

Here’s my email:
Please let me know when Andrew Breitbart will be appearing on ABC or its affiliates. I am so looking forward to the political analysis offered by this right wing propagandist and smear artist! I don’t want to miss it! Also, let me know when you will have David Duke on to discuss Race Relations. If you could devote a show to flat earth theories of spheres that would be great, too.

Speaking of election night:
Television is not functioning. Will there be people here talking about the results?

Apparently Bull Connor was unavailable.

ABC news is dead to me. Boy talking about tone deaf.
I think I’m going to play some Rush.. LOUD.
Suffern ACE
I don’t know why anyone is surprised by this. You can be angered all you want, but if current projections hold, you lose, he wins, and so prepare to be scoffed at for a bit by the serious people until you can figure out why you lost. He helped shape that reality, the reality in which a lot of voters have decided to turn this election into a social issues election about race and the idea that the democrats only do things to help minorities to win votes and actively hate white americans. That’s his schtik, it seems to be working favorably for the people whom he represents, so now he gets the microphone. I’d like to think that he’ll be soon on the outside again, but I get the sense that it will take quite some doing.
RalfW
“Don’t watch and don’t talk about it”
Same goes for Palin, O’Donnell, all that crapola. The plunge in Fox ratings is 100s of thousands of people shutting off the tube and saying no to the fear/hype machine.
caune
Analysis from Arizona?
Shit, that’s easy…we are a State full of crazy people who vote for letters behind names not actual candidates so what the hell is there to analyze?
morzer
@caune:
It must be all those headless voters they keep finding out in the desert.
Mouse Tolliver
This story is barely a day old, and already ABC, in damage control mode, is having to correct Breitbart’s lies. They just put out a statement that says, among other things, “He has not been asked to analyze the results of the election for ABC News.”
So why did people think he was hired as an analyst? Because Breitbart’s Big Journalism blog said, “Bigs founder and head of the Breitbart empire Andrew Breitbart will be bringing analysis live from Arizona.”
Kryptik
Hey, wasn’t I told that Breitbart was totally discredited and discounted, and that the media would blackball him for punching them in the eye? that his status as a serial liar would prevent him from being featured on any serious news outlet from hereon in?
What happened to that? Oh right, I remember now, no right-wing figure can ever be discredited, no matter what they do. Ever.
And the fact that people are still actively supporting and cheering this asshole on makes me fucking depressed.
dj spellchecka
i gave up on abc last fall when, during a flapadoodle ’bout the administration leavin’ fauxnews off the guest list for some briefing, jake tapper came racing to the defense of his “fellow journalists”…
J sub D
We can only hope that network news dies a slow, excruciatingly painful and money hemorrhaging death.
I want to see the evening news anchors dressed in clown suits in an attempt to boost ratings.
JoyceH
I left feedback on the ABC News website, telling them that they were no longer a journalism organization, they were a freak show.
Just in case they didn’t know…
redoubt
ABC went partisan like this in 2006 with their mockumentary “The Path to 9/11”. Steve Gilliard (of blessed memory) wrote about it. Repeatedly.
vttex
Wait, Breitbart has an editor?
JWL
I stopped watching network and cable news years ago (I trust I need not elaborate as to why). If it weren’t for baseball and football, I would have no use for television, at all.
The Republic of Stupidity
Oh, it’s a joke all righty…
Just one the good folks at ABC don’t understand…
But it’s DEFINITELY a joke… no doubt about that…
The Republic of Stupidity
@Mouse Tolliver:
Then why did ABC even bring him on board?
Is he the electoral night equivalent of Rush Limbaugh on MNF?
Hmmmm… ABC is the network that brought us THAT ridiculous stunt too…
timb
@Suffern ACE: no way. Two years is all they get
Mouse Tolliver
@The Republic of Stupidity: He’ll be participating in a digital town hall event. Still, that’s too big a platform for any organization that claims to be in the news business.
ABC is also the network that keeps casting rightwing political figures on a dance contest that’s mainly reserved for actors, musicians and professional athletes.
kth
Shirley Sherrod? ABC knows thee not.
