Not that Blogmaster John Cole ever reads my posts, but maybe he’ll catch this in the comments on another thread:
As the moderator of Comic-Con’s Game of Thrones panel, series author George R.R. Martin gave a shout-out to the recent Saturday Night Live sketch satirizing the HBO show’s frequent nudity and sex scenes. Then he listed all the women Theon Greyjoy has had the pleasure of bedding, and wondered why Theon’s portrayer, Alfie Allen, hasn’t personally thanked him for it: “Have I even gotten a box of chocolates? What’s it like doing all those sex scenes?” Allen said they were fine, adding, “I wanted to get in shape for it anyway.” So Martin moved on to Richard Madden, who plays Robb Stark. “So Richard, you’ve done a sex scene, too.” Madden blushed and said he preferred “swinging a sword.” Whoops.
Later, when a fan in the audience asked the cast about the most enjoyable scenes they’ve filmed, Allen said he really liked when Theon gave that speech at the end, right before he was knocked out. Martin replied: “So you liked getting hit in the back of the head very hard more than naked sex scenes?” Allen answered, “It was more the acting.”…

And for something completely different, fans of the G-rated serial graphic art format get some news, too also:
The Disney Channel on Saturday plans to announce that production has started on “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel,” an animated television special that will mark the first time that Marvel and Disney characters have appeared together since the Walt Disney Company bought Marvel for $4 billion in 2009. The long-rumored-about special will appear next summer…
In “Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel,” Spider-Man, Thor, Iron Man and Hulk arrive in town after their powers are accidentally removed by the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Phineas and Ferb come to the rescue, and they work together to defeat some meddling Marvel villains, including Red Skull, Whiplash and Venom.

Anybody — especially those of you lucky enough to attend SDCC in person — got snippets to share?

I’m reading this, but all I’m seeing is the Harlem Globetrotters running around with Scoobie Doo.

“Not that Blogmaster John Cole ever reads my posts…”
Comments like that pretty much guarantee he never will.
Man, I ate a bunch of crap at the ballpark this afternoon. Fortunately, my diet retroactively began at 8 a.m.

Saw this at LGM, looks like it’s the end of the line for the Paulies and their hopes of crashing the convention.
I work with a Paultard. For a long time he was holding out hope for his guy to grab delegates in the dark of the night while no one was looking and take this thing to the house. Only in the last couple months I think had it occurred to him there was no chance in hell the Repugs were going to let THAT happen.
Oh well, at least he’s got that nice $1000 water filtration system to protect him from all that ebil big gubmint flouride. And enough guns to arm his entire city block. Not much gold though, so I’m not sure how that would have worked out for him had Paul been able to abolish the fed and all that fun stuff.
Yutsano
This strikes me as more clapping louder than anything. Especially with the Willard meltdown in progress.
Walker
Didn’t Soonergrunt post that he was at SDCC?

“Mo-o-o-om! Phineas is hanging out with a big green adult who is wearing almost no clothes!”

My son and DIL were at ComicCon all weekend. I’m sure I will get a full report in the next few days. Already had pics of them in various costumes and such. Looks like fun if you are in to that kind of stuff. I am a huge Game of Thrones fan, having read all the books as soon as they came out. At this point I am concerned that old GRRM may croak before he finishes books 6 and 7. He really does take his time between istallments.

@Robin G.: I concur: SQUEE!!
I mean, my boys are going to love it.
I would bet money on Doof joining forces with the good guys because the baddies’ physical appearances gross him out. Imagine him offering Red Skull some aloe Vera or something.

watching the Newsroom episode and they’ve just touched on the Giffords shooting as a “real time event” to point out what is reporting and what is a fact and here I am crying all over again reliving that damn day.
Billy K
I think it’s because neither he, nor anyone, understands what you’re talking about.
Maybe something a little less obtuse…. or at least give us some bolded copy. Seriously…
TaMara (BHF)
At CC, Nathan Fillion confirmed that there will be a Dr. Horrible sequel. Whoot! (for those who don’t know, Bad Horse’s Filly, my old handle, came from the original).
More singing Neil Patrick Harris & Fillion. More Joss Whedon.
This is excellent news…for John McCain.
TheMightyTrowel
@TaMara (BHF):
FTFY. also, they’ve been ‘confirming’ this for years. I’ll believe it when they start filming.

Not at SDCC, but I love this photo of Mythbusters’ Grant Imahara in cosplay as a BSG pilot.

@Yutsano: One of disastrous consequences of the ’10 elections was Republicans controlling so many states during redistricting. They’ve given themselves quite the security blanket for the next decade thanks to gerrymandering.
Couple that with the insane amount of right wing money being pumped into House/Senate races, and the Republicans are going to have a real good chance of controlling both chambers despite running shitty candidates.

What Disney could have done with this:
1. Hannah Montana sings with Black Widow.
2. High School Musical with Loki.
3. Jesse babysits Tony Stark as a child.
Picking Phineas and Ferb was definitely a good choice.
Hill Dweller
@piratedan: They had to ruin it with the Coldplay soundtrack.

@Billy K: Wierd, I understand all her posts just fine. Seriously…
I’m just waiting for the ‘event or events’ that will change SDCC forever. You know it’s coming…for better or worse. It’s at this tipping point that I think most annual events experience. Interestingly enough, sports seem to be really adept at managing and taking advantage of the evolution.

I understood TBogg had plans to attend with L&T Casey. No report there as of this afternoon.

@JordanRules: Well, you know my recipe posts are pretty obtuse if you think about it. ;-)

John Cole is, of course, a total dick.

@TaMara (BHF): Indeed TaMara, but after I decode them I eat really well ;) Definately worth the brain strain.

Watch the Doctor Who cast sing Bohemian Rhapsody. Listening is optional.
Watch the Doctor Who cast look silly and pretty.

I knew that no good would come of a Disney-Marvel merger, and now the no good has indeed come.
/wet blanket.
In other news, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band had their PA system shut down by the organizers of the Hard Rock Calling festival when they broke the sound curfew with guest performer Paul McCartney. At the time, they were playing Twist And Shout.
Yutsano
@Comrade Mary: Holee shit. Karen missed her calling. She could actually be a really good soprano if she wanted. Plus the way they come back together after almost losing it shows they have really great chemistry.
@Amir Khalid: I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Can a FPer fix SP&T’s post by taking c*s*n* out of the title? Thanks.
JordanRules
@Amir Khalid: And Van Zandt was not pleased. His tweets were funny. I kinda wanna know the backstory too. Who made the call or did nobody even think about it and all the lawmen just acted accordingly.
MikeJ
@Comrade Mary: More Matt from Comicon
Yutsano
@MikeJ: I got that on FB. Total win. And it might help LilBrit sleep better. :)

@JordanRules:
Maybe the HRC organizers had had previous warnings from the local council about acts breaking sound curfew, something along the lines of “one more violation, and we’ll have to think hard about next year’s permit”. It was they, not the local council, or the police as Van Zandt tweeted, who shut down the PA.
I do agree with Van Zandt, though: since it was Saturday night, the council could have given HRC a little extra leeway with the curfew hours.
James E. Powell
@Amir Khalid:
Brings to mind the rooftop concert and the dickless wonders who decided to shut it down.
Amir Khalid
@James E. Powell:
Someone reminded Van Zandt about that one too. And of course one musician was at that gig as well as the E Street Band’s HRC show..
Steeplejack
@Amir Khalid:
There are other venues that have strict curfews. Chastain Park in Atlanta is a beautiful outdoor amphitheater where they have concerts throughout the warm-weather season, but it’s in the middle of a residential neighborhood, so the concerts must end at curfew (11:00 p.m., I think). It is very strictly enforced. I don’t know the specific situation with Hyde Park, but it’s probably similar.
I do see where Paul McCartney suddenly coming onstage to jam with Springsteen’s band is sort of an epochal event that could bend the rules. But apparently not. If you’re lying in bed two streets over and you are subjected to audible but indistinct music three or four times a week until 10:30 p.m., you probably don’t care who the hell is playing.
Soonergrunt
@Walker: I have been. I’ll put together a photostream in the next day or so.

I was reminded that SDCC was coming up hen I picked Mr.S up at SAN last Tuesday, on his return from Westercon. Possibly it was the guy in the blazing Spiderman shirt which tripped my memory.
I watched the Peter Jackson/lotsa other Hobbit/LotR big names presentation on video today. Not the actual movie bits, just the live ppl. Otherwise, that – and staying the hell away from downtown – was the extent of my ComiCon experience. I have ->0 tolerance for large crowd scenes, and you’d have to pay me, not a pittance either, to attend ComiCon. Our friends who are there are too busy either on staff or running some booth for this to be a social weekend.
Actually, my son’s partner did a charity thing sponsored by the Walking Dead ppl, that was clearly in conjunction with SDCC, where she & a bunch of other volunteers got made up as Zombies by professional makeup artists, and other volunteers were “runners”- I’m not sure of the rest of the details. The makeup job was excellent from the pix I saw. It was a 5 hour stint, and as usual I think she just rocks.
Otherwise, the weather was the hottest and humidest it’s been in at least 2 years. It was a lot more tolerable today.
In fact today has been very good – and not even merely retroactively.
John
I am actually a little afraid to tell my 10 year old son about the P&F/Marvel mashup. He may become so amped he explodes.
Applejinx
Pony fans got sneak previews of two new songs and a variety of revelations at SDCC :)
Grumpy Code Monkey
@Amir Khalid:
Marsh and Povenmire are exactly the people to pull this off. Getting Tony Stark in the same room with P&F can only result in awesome.
Think of it as the ultimate Marvel Team-Up issue.
Jebediah
@Grumpy Code Monkey:
Agreed. I trust them. They stood up to suits on a couple of P&F issues, and they were proven right, so I am guessing they won’t get pushed into Lower Crapsuckistan as easily as some others might.
