Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When do the post office & the dmv weigh in on the wuhan virus?

Come on, man.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

Spilling the end game before they can coat it in frankl luntz-approved dogwhistles.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Thanks for reminding me that Van Jones needs to be slapped.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Open Thread and OKC Balloon-Juice Meetup

I am thinking about (VERY preliminary stages) a meet-up in OKC.  I think the Tapwerks Ale House has a lot of potential.  Possibly in a couple weeks to a month time.  Input would be greatly appreciated.

Also, open thread.

Update: And we now have “Cheney for Wyoming” ads running on the site!  That’s going to be all sorts of schadenfreude one way or the other.

@BillinGlendaleCA: What’s the fun in that? If she’s gonna troll Wyoming we should at least poke her a bit.

You don’t enjoy sitting back, watching, and munching popcorn once in a while? Buy futures now; popcorn sales are going to skyrocket in 2014.

And Amazon has somehow decided that I should be buying a copy of DSM-V. I guess we talk enough about crazy people on this blog that they decided we need to make up-to-date diagnoses.

“And we now have “Cheney for Wyoming” ads running on the site!” That’s ad money well spent. I swear, if I had a little less morals or a little more balls, I’d start a rightwing PAC. I can confabulate (emphasis on the ‘con’) conservative Gruselgeschichte; I mean, it’s not like it’s hard to scare wingnuts into a froth. Any idiot could make money at it, and a lot of them do.

Does she have to choose one or the other? Can’t she like fracking both because it produces exploitable resources and because it destroys the environment?

Any interest in a South Bay Area, California (San Jose, Mountain View, Palo Alto) meet-up? I missed the Berkeley meet-up because it was too far to get to (and back) given my home responsibilities, but a meet-up in San Jose or environs would work.

This story is too good not to share:

(like Mr. Cole I have an unhealthy tendancy to view CNN, in my case the on-line version.)

With the construction on I-35 in Norman, traffic is going to be brutal on football Saturdays for those coming in from points south, so you should probably keep that in mind. (Although a football weekend Friday would probably be OK.)

The Fourth Amendment has no equal protection clause. #bringonthemeteor #cantfirehiattfastenough

    Since it’s an open thread:

We’re pondering a fall trip to the Greek Islands. We’d like to go back to Crete (we like a little village called Myrtos), but would like to include another island or two this time. Anyone here have favorites? I’ve been leaning toward Santorini.

And no, we’re not posh globe-trotters, we live in the UK, so it’s a pretty easy trip from here to Greece, and this will likely be my only trip out of the UK this year (Mr. Cos gets to travel all over the place for work).

Might be a nice weekend getaway for me and the wife.

Yow, been gone from the BJ community for longer than I realized. Haven’t checked in in MONTHS and what do I see but a plan for an OKC thingumabob. Count me in! I’m a newly minted (fresh & oh so shiny) OKer (Soonist? It’ll come to me…) these days and am rarin’ to go!

Not attending, but my vote would be Mcnellie’s. Actually, my vote would be Hawaiian Don’s, but I’m trying to be considerate of the BJers that aren’t fans of sketchy dive bars.

@The prophet Nostradumbass: Excellent! One hit is better than none. How do I notify the powers that be so we can raise the official status? For Palo Alto, I know of the Rose and Crown from my college days. I am certain there are other drinking establishments of repute as well.
