Bohdi made his first round trip walk to the bakery in three months this morning and seems just fine. Yesterday we went out for our evening walk and he saw be put the dog bag container in my pocket and thought it was a ball. The dude was just so happy, bouncing around and running ahead of me. He didn’t take it too badly when he figured out it wasn’t a ball at all but it made me think of ways I might let him play some without him hurting his back.

Today the acclaimed Ukrainian film-maker Oleh Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in prison for “terrorist activities” by a military court in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. He was arrested last year near his home in Simferopil, Russian-occupied Crimea, moved to Moscow, then to Rostov. In essence he was kidnapped and subjected to a show trial. At his sentencing he and his co-defendant, Oleksandr Kolchenko stood and sang the Ukrainian national anthem. Last Friday, addressing the court, Sentsov said “I don’t know what your convictions are worth if you aren’t prepared to suffer or die for them.”
His conviction and sentencing are being condemned by a wide spectrum of European film directors, by Amnesty International, the US State Dept and a host of governments and NGO’s.
Why you make goggies sad? Please to give them some treats, right now. Have Patsy Marie’s health problems sorted themselves out?

@schrodinger’s cat: No, we’re still trying to find the right dose / combination to sort her out. The thyroid meds worked great at first — she lost several pounds, regained her energy, etc., but as the vet started dialing them back, we ran into some problems. We’re back to square one, basically. But she hasn’t lost her taste for treats!

The tile floor tells me the kids have moved into the kitchen and want scraps. Any scraps. And if you dump that whole roast on the ground, that will work too.
@Mnemosyne (iPhone): Thanks, he’s pretty locked into tennis balls even though there is a basket full of other toys at his disposal. I think thee biggest problem is that he is so fact and acrobatic that he gets hurt flying after the ball in open areas. The biggest problem is me, I love to show him off, and I just quit doing it. I may go bucket direct throws at face level and no deep passes with the over the back catch. I have been surprised at how well he has adjusted, they say that retrieving is a way for them to show you that they care and it’s to like he has moped around about it.

@raven: I’m guessing that you don’t have carpeting in your house? When one of my cockers got old and had back problems, I put a big rug down in in the main room and hallways so he could run around without slipping on the hardwood floors. Might something like that help him? Or does he do all his ball chasing outdoors?

Thanks for posting pics of the girls. It actually has helped me with my fear of boxers. That fear was born when a neighbor Boxer attacked my rat terrier while we were out walking. Vic almost died, but recovered, and Rusty’s humans were horrified, and paid for Vic’s care. It left a permanent scar for both Vic and me. Which, probably, was good, for Vic, because Vic (when we lived in MS) had run ins with all sorts of bad beasties (the wild hog incident was…well, scary–but not as treacherous as the boxer attack in our nice sleepy CT suburb when he nearly died). He was attacked when he was 10, lived until 18.

@raven:
If he likes puzzle toys, they have stuff le this at Petco:

There are also treat rollers that he could roll across the floor. That way, he could go at his own pace and maybe be less likely to hurt himself.
