Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

American history and black history cannot be separated.

The world has changed, and neither one recognizes it.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

🎶 Those boots were made for mockin’ 🎵

Nothing worth doing is easy.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

Commentor Linnaeus linked this clip on Adam’s late-night bearcam post last night. Since I live in scenic New England, I could almost see a thought balloon over that bear’s head: “Dammit, there’s always a line during tourist season… “

And then I had to go look for this:

@Mike J: Perhaps the new hire hopes no one in the GOP notices he’s working for Drumpf now?

A Florida teacher who speaks no Spanish is suing her employer for discrimination, after the school rejected her for a job that required teaching an hour of Spanish per day.

Third grade teacher Tracy Rosner filed a federal employment discrimination lawsuit against the Miami-Dade County School Board, claiming that her race – white – prevented her from getting the job.

    …..

Rosner said the school could have given her the position and had another instructor teach the Spanish component.

The lawsuit claims that because non-Spanish speakers are in the minority population of Miami-Dade County – where census data shows that about two-thirds of the area’s population are Latino or Hispanic – denying Rosner because she does not speak Spanish amounts to “employment discrimination on the basis of race and national origin.”

Ummm, here’s an idea: Get off your lazy entitled pasty white ass and LEARN SOME FVCKIN SPANISH. Can I please join another race? I’m tired of being embarrassed by this one.

“Slaves that worked [at the White House] were well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government,” O’Reilly said in a fact-checking segment of “The O’Reilly Factor” Tuesday.

@OzarkHillbilly: Wait, I can sue a perspective employer if they don’t hire me due to not meeting some of the job requirements*?

    Cool.

*Seems to only apply if you’re an entitled white asswipe.

I watched my local news and I leaned that (1)there was a mass exodus of Bernie delegates that left the convention, (2)NOBODY likes or trusts the Hillbeast, and (3)there were mass protests in the streets of Philly. I saw none of this on this here blog, we must not being told the truff. Wake up Sheeple!

@raven: In fact, slaves were so well-treated that when they wore out, their ownere could sometimes trade them in and get a pretty good allowance in their purchase of a new one.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: Maybe now you’ll believe us bern-outs that the mainstream media is a corporate shitshow with very much its own agenda. Cos’ it is.

Look on the bright side of a very ugly scenario; nobody believes them, that’s half the problem.

When all these institutions fail so hardcore that nothing can be believed in, people get jumpy and do crazy things. It’s Hillary’s job to demonstrate that government can be believed in again. Might have to be a bit of a pretense that there’s ‘new blood’ coming in and catalyzing everything (there’s a grain of truth to that but mostly it’s a useful meme) but it seems do-able.

@FlipYrWhig: Eh, don’t fret. I understand this is a blog and I’ll give as good as I get. We’re on the same side.

It’s Democrats. So we’re allowed to go all UFC on each other, that’s tradition :D we WILL come together and elect the first woman President, and what’s more we’ll manage to uncomfortably contain both our strident extremist wings and vigorously fly all over the place with ’em.

I’ll remember that sometimes you get too into the blog-sparring. I do too, and I won’t hold that against you :)

Burns, Whig and Sundry IS still my least favorite law firm, though! ;)

Calls to mind an experience I had as a teenager on a family trip out west. We were driving through Olympic National Park and stopped to stretch. I walked a bit into the forest (which has got to be the quietest place on earth) and suddenly was face to face with a deer. We looked at each other for a minute, and then the deer just wandered off.

    I treasure the memory.

Well, that and the moss dripping off the huge fir trees.

Third grade teacher Tracy Rosner filed a federal employment discrimination lawsuit against the Miami-Dade County School Board, claiming that her race – white – prevented her from getting the job.

@OzarkHillbilly: Christ, Spanish is just about the easiest language to learn. How easy? I LEARNED IT. FOR PURPOSES OF BEING A CLASSROOM TEACHER. And I’m not some wonder whiz here. This woman’s just another useful idiot who found a wingnut law firm to gin up some publicity and few thousand dollars so she won’t have to go back on the pole for a few months.

Damn some people piss me off.

@Hunter: We were at the head of a hiking trail just off the Blue Ridge Parkway with our bag lunches when we saw a deer on the path. Everyone stood still for about five minutes and then we decided the moment was over and turned away.

    The deer followed us.

That animal knew it was in a safe place.
