Apologies for the late notice (my fault), a query from commentor and party-promoter lahke:

Hi, folks! I’m temporarily in the Sacramento area (shuttling between Fair Oaks and Roseville). Are there any local jackals who want to do a meet up?

I’m thinking Saturday evening, but open to alternatives.

If you’re interested, leave a comment below, or send me an email at annelaurie (dot) bj (at) gmail (dot) com, and I’ll forward your message.

    I’m about 90 minutes away… I could go if anyone else is on board.

    A Sacto meet up would be swell, but I’m booked on Saturday. What’s your Sunday am look like?
    Trollhattan, Darkrose, others?
    Maybe Old Soul at the Weatherstone (21st and I st.)?

    I’m in Grass Valley. Would love to hitch a ride if anyone from Nevada City, Grass Valley or Auburn attends. Any time Saturday or Sunday is good for me.

    @middlelee: Grass Valley! What an embarrassment of riches you have in that community – the music scene, the local radio, and the fair grounds from the land that time forgot. Plus local brews and cheese and such.

    @laura:
    Also a calendar embarrassment. I just got an email reminder that I’m scheduled to attend a workshop in Nevada City from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday. Sigh.
    And yes, this is a fabulous place to live. The climate is wonderful (heat isn’t my enemy) and I live out in the country with wild turkeys, deer, farm animals on all sides, so many flower colors all year round. So much great food and good wine. Also, many liberals, a writer’s group, and an active sangha as well as Unitarians. Can you tell I’m happy here?

    Hi, and I’m so sorry to rescind the invitation, but my father died unexpectedly yesterday and I don’t think I’m up for it.
    In one sense it wasn’t unexpected because he was a week shy of his 99th birthday and quite frail, but he was not sick before. He just had breathing trouble and then seizures and then died. At least I was here in town, and not having to fly in from Boston now.

    @Lahke: Oh, I’m sorry. Even at that age, it’s a big loss. Glad to hear he didn’t suffer months of pain, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. My condolences to your family.

    I’m so sorry to hear that, Lahke!

    Will put up another post with updates…
