    Seem to me that if you’re calling an emergency meeting with members of Congress because you just screwed the global pooch, you don’t do it at 2pm. That’s nearly a full day of leaks, strategizing, phone calls. You do it at 9 and you put the fire out – if you can – first thing.

    so between every staffer in the White House hiding in a bathroom to text their favorite reporters, then running back to do it again when they see somebody they hate going into the bathroom to do the same thing, and the Beast tweeting about everyone being mean to him while he was on the plane, and Jared’s lawyers trying to figure out new ways to throw his lunkhead BIL under more busses, twitter may just explode tomorrow some time around 10 am, Eastern.

    For any keeping score at home ( :) ), bit the bullet, hit the Prime Day sales and ordered the Kindle Paperwhite for Mom, which will bring along on the upcoming trip. Finding out I can add her to my Amazon Prime account so she can make use of it through there and that books from either Kindle sources of the locsl loibrabry can now be downloaded directly onto the unit rather than having to sync stuff and transfer them were the deciding iotas of info.

    Have a feeling it will end up coming back with me; c’est la vie.

    Also went WAY overboard* and ordered a new router for the ol’ abode. The one currently in use works fine but is approaching somewhere near 15 years of use, so it’s past time and the special price today on an Asus 1300 was simply too attractive. Still took an hour or more of mental wrestling to make that final purchasing click.

    *Second thoughts expected to tiptoe through the head all night long.

    Incidentally, for those on the fence about an Instant Pot, the standard 6 qt. model is (IIRC) down to 59 bucks during Prime Day.

    Thanks to the combination of front pagers and commenters here, we’ve all known much of the information that is finally coming out about trump, the GOP, NRA, Russia, etc. It felt like today the rest of the 73% of the country caught up.

    Trump came out of the traitor closet and the Butini arrest gave us all a better sense of the scope and players in the conspiracy.

    As unsettling as it is to witness your president out himself as an agent of a hostile foreign power, it’s also a bit of a relief to have this mess out in the open.

    So we fight to win the November election, we try to practice some self care, and we do kind things for the people and animals in our lives. We can do this. Don’t give up.

    @FlyingToaster: I still have my kids’ wagon from over 20 years ago. It’s quite sturdy and can certainly transport one adult. Perhaps not one of Trump’s heft, but definitely one within normal parameters.

    I’m willing to pull it and its occupant to the appropriate town square. Plus, both my daughters knit, and while they may not have the gravitas of a Defarge, they are certainly willing to take up their generation’s fabric arts responsibilities.

    Cannot take credit for that. Most of my friends are nuts about it. I did not dislike it, but there was something running through it I found nigglingly bothersome which was enough to demur from recommending it wholeheartedly. Production of next new season moves to Amazon and shall certainly check it out again then.

    As an old-time Jesus freak, I’m just hoping that this is the beginning of a movement where hard-core Trumpists abandon Christianity in favor of pre-Christian paganism.

    If for no other reason, just to watch evangelicals squirm a bit as they explain why they’re OK with their buddies who are into Norse gods.
