Whatever happens tonight, keep at it. Don’t tune out if it’s losses across the board, don’t get complacent if it’s wins across the board.
Whether they like it or not, history is on our side. But the American right isn’t going down with a fight.

Thank you, Doug.

Fox News projecting that the Dems will control the House is uplifting.
NBC gives it an 80% chance for Dem control of the House.
This is all good.

Citation is needed for history being on our side.
Ultimately there’s a very strong rural/urban divide and we live under a system that gives the rural areas a massive advantage. I don’t see a workaround.

Baud
@Cheryl Rofer: Nice.

The thing that surprises me most so far in the House is that, by 538’s classic estimate, every candidate with a 50% or greater chance of winning has won in races called so far. All of them. Zero upsets.
dnfree
I want to thank you again for giving us the opportunity to donate funds to so many candidates. We’ll never know the difference you may have made.

@Cheryl Rofer: Still better than the alternative in some countries where there is no mystery about the outcome.

@Baud: Co-signed.

It ain’t a wave…but frankly, when it comes down to it, all we need is 218 and the emergency brake will have been THROWN.
I just need a Dem Congress for Mueller to give his report to, and two years of Trumponomics playing out as predicted. Add in 1M+ new Dem voters in Florida and we will hand the GOP their asses in 2020.
HOWEVER…I cannot spend 2 more years in a blind rage over this sorry excuse of a country…no, that’s not right. This sorry excuse of about half of all our current voters, not our country as a whole. So, here’s to them – the GOP faithful, the unrepentant racists, the proud ignorants – dying off in record numbers, here’s to us continuing to inspire young people, and here’s to truly turning the page in 2020.

Abigail Spanenburg and Elaine Luria still in it in Virginia.

@zzyzx: MLK

Where’s the pie filter, this guachi has to go.
guachi
Wow. Luria back on top by 44 votes.
44!
?BillinGlendaleCA
@guachi: I don’t give a damn about upsets, just flips.
Aleta
@dnfree: Yeah. Whole lot of D candidates became better known and better supported.
schrodingers_cat
@Baud: Seconded. Great job, DougJ.

The FTFNYT finally put the dreaded needle up, and it says Democrats have a >95% chance to take the house, and right now they have the Senate at 53/47 Rs. I think we need to remember that this was supposed to be a bloodbath in the Senate for Democrats, and a gain of two isn’t great.
Cheryl Rofer
The Dangerman
I like the cut of your … cut …
guachi
@?BillinGlendaleCA: If there were zero upsets the Democrats would hold 220 seats. A bit of a nailbiter, but that’s where it’d end up.
Raven
Bye asshole.

Erik Paulsen is OUT! Yes!

It is truly the fight of our lives, for the rest of our lives. Even for the lives of those much younger than me. Evil is never vanquished, it must be beaten back regularly. Sometimes it gains a few steps, especially when good people are convinced the war has been won.
Whatever the outcome of today’s battle, suck it up, take a breath, and hit it again.
Thanks to all here for the sanity and the focus. These have been hard years.

Davids just got called as a winner.

@Cheryl Rofer: Yay Sharice!

@The Dangerman: The California results should be fun, but won’t come in until midnight my time, and I’m not planning to stay up that late.
Baud
It should be clear to everyone by now that Trump has a strong constituency and 2016 really had little to do with the quality of Hillary as a candidate.
Baud
@Cheryl Rofer: If tomorrow. Cali is notoriously slow.

Dems pick up NJ-11, used to be Rodney Freylinghausen’s for pretty much ever
and repeating: Sharice Davids wins IN FREAKING KANSAS. First Native American woman ever elected to Congress. That in itself is worth celebrating. And in KANSAS!
ETA: @Baud: white people who don’t want to admit they support him
Gin & Tonic
All I want at this point is Adam Schiff taking House Intel away from Devin Nunes.

I’m going to setup Madame’s new TV, that we picked up at Costco this afternoon.
Dorothy A. Winsor
KS governor, yes! Bye, Kobach.
Raven
If you dopes don’t think Kobach losing in Kansas is a big deal I can’t help you.
??? Goku (aka Amerikan Baka) ??
@Baud:
I’d like to think that a less damaged candidate (not her fault!) would have won. Of course, how much Russian fuckery had to do with Trump’s winning in those right states?

@Raven:
In Pauley Pavilion (and I miss the old Pauley; some things need to be left alone) it would be (on a foul out or DQ):
So Long, Chief!

It’s only 32% reporting in. We’ll see, but I hope that asshole gets blocked. I don’t want to see him being considered for president anytime soon.

@Cheryl Rofer: The courts de-gerrymandered Pennsylvania’s congressional districts for this election. I think there are still several more potential pickups, particularly in the Philly suburbs.
Raven
@The Dangerman: I only got there once.

@Raven: He’ll needle him but I bet you a Coke he’ll vote with him >95% of the time.

@The Dangerman: They don’t do that anymore, at least the chief part.

And California has more mail-in ballots every cycle. It takes days. I forget how long it took before we were sure we had Senator Kamala, but it was an agonizing wait.
Is there a good source to see the tally of seats gained/lost?

@Gin & Tonic: OH YEA.

If you went to any games, do you remember Frisbee (?) at the games? For non Bruins, Frisbee was not a flying piece of plastic.
Frisbee was always great, occasionally brilliant.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: I really like Schiff. The first time I saw him interviewed on NPR, I thought “Who is that guy? He sounds knowledgeable and reasonable.” Why isn’t he mentioned more among the prospects for president in 2020?
The Dangerman
@Raven:
After my time.
Pickup in Pauley was legendary. Many pros showed up for the A game. I only ventured onto the A Court once and was dunked on so hard by a kid from Marquette I never did so again.
I only got on the Court years later (in Manhattan Beach) with some Clippers and Lakers to get my ass kicked.
