Seattle Meetup update: Trying to get a confirmation of a dinner reservation from Bluwater Bistro. I believe we have one for 5:30 PM.
102 Lakeside Ave (Lake Washington Blvd) 98112
It’s opening day of boating season so anyone coming from the north beware of closed bridges. 520 from Bellevue may be okay if you exit at Lake Washington Blvd. If you take this exit (Opiejean) go left through the Arboretum. Nice curvy drive.
The restaurant is right next to Leschi Park and Leschi Marina so arriving early is not a waste of time – people and boat watching and hopefully Mt. Rainier.
Reservation is under Dan B, 6′ tall, 200#, salt and pepper beard and hair, maybe with balloon.
My partner’s mom is having a medical crisis but I’ll probably be there at Bluwater. Not much we can do for her until we know more.

@Dan B:
I hope they finfd out soon just what is ailing your partner’s mother, and that it’s not too serious.

Eh, who’s this Cole fella?
I’m off the Red Rock to spend my night taking pics(time lapse of the Milky Way rising and star trails with the red cliffs as a foreground).

As long as the pets are kept in scritches, it’s all good, JC.

@Dan B: Hi, Dan–I’m not going to be able to make it after all, and I’ll be sorry to miss y’all.
I hope your partner’s mother is doing better, and that they can help her recover soon.

At a baseball game with a pack of Germans, which makes sense if you don’t think about it too much.
Kid at my daughter’s high school broke the US HS record in the fly today. He’s headed to Tokyo next summer. Dayumn
Sister Golden Bear
@Steeplejack: He’s the guy next to the willow.
Steeplejack
@Sister Golden Bear:
Oh, okay. Couldn’t really see him because the willow was too close.

Were still looking for recs for shows to watch?
You should check out the Rookie. It stars Nathan Fillion as a new rookie cop working for the LAPD along with his two rookie friends and their supervising officers.
I personally think it’s fairly progressive and deals with ethical dilemmas well. I’d greatly recommend it

The CBC’s As It Happens show today had a long report on a UN mission to the DPRK and their warnings about famine there. This probably has more to do with the missile launches today than Donnie’s and Vlad’s phone call.

Climate change is going to contribute to even more political instability going forward…

Had a doctor’s appointment today and he said that Spawn the Youngest (aka “Boog”) has hit a major developmental milestone at 32 weeks, so I am feeling more relaxed. Though HOLY SHIT I have no baby gear and I just had that realization today. Boog is apparently trying to see if it is possible to bust TF out like a Xenomorph.
I have been trying to avoid any news having to do with the garbage man occupying the White House, because I am supposed to keep my blood pressure low, but of course have not been able to resist. I hope we get to hear directly from Mr. Mueller soon.

@Amir Khalid: Mike’s mom is 93 or 95, nimbers are the Mike’sters bane, and she has stomach ulcers that are bleeding enough to cause anemia. Mike’s sister is trying to get her to a hospital but even the one across the street is an issue because of sister and mom’s mobility. Mom is too old for cautery surgery so a transfusion is the only possibility. It’s slowing the inevitable. They live 90 miles away but Mike’s brother, sister in law, and nephew live a couple miles away. The emergency care regularly falls on Mike for the usual reasons: he’s “unattached” and doesn’t ask for help. I’ve got to be here to hold down the fort and feed his 10 feral cats at his house on the other side of the hill.
Thanks for the wishes. We’ve been around long enough to know what the end stages are and to resign ourselves. AIDS did a number on our psyches. It will probably be hardest on his sister. She’s been single her entire life. Mike has somebody to take it out on, me…

@Suzanne: Glad to hear Boog is doing well. I like the notion of a Balloon Juice baby shower.

@Dan B:
Sorry Dan,
Dan B
@thalarctosMaritimus: Sorry to hear. Shall we do a jackal salute to you? We can cast perfectly rational and reasonable aspersions on your character, or photoshop the face of Darth Cheney, Stephen Miller, or various sundry other scoundrels into our group photo, with your nym placed appropriately, of course. Or we could go with your preferred course and hope for next time. //
And, are you going to have a wonderful evening or an obligation? No need to respond.
Suzanne
@TomatoQueen: Awww, that’s very kind. I don’t need a shower. I just need to get off my arse and buy some stuff. Many of our friends are lending us items. Despite this being Spawn #3, I gave most of the baby stuff away since there is so much space between the kids. And the stroller that I have is under massive recall, so I am trying to select a new one. I just need to make it a priority.
@Dan B: I have no advice, other than to just hang in there. We’re all thinking of you and sending our best wishes.
Dan B
@Jay: Thanks so much. Sometimes all we can offer each other is our stories and our truth. We’ve been fortunate to live in an amazing time full of promise and enough tragedy to keep us focused. Mike and I have each other and a whole host of people of all “races”, backgrounds, and degrees of imperfection and striving. And you realize no matter how much we fail to be perfect for each other we need each other at this juncture in history more than in decades.

@Dan B:
You should know that learning about your boating season beginning soon, and the traffic implications of the newly started boating season strike me as both interesting and amusing. Enjoy!

JC, hope Lily, Steve, Rosie, & even Thurston are well. Same with your human family.
